I've read some of Churchill's writings and he was a master of words. I was captivated by his exploits during his military service and the Anglo Boer War, being a South African myself. He had a razor sharp intellect and I admire him greatly. It's a pity about Gallipoli - poor planning and command caused too many Australians and Allies their lives. It was a slaughter and I am surprised he made such a strong comeback. The Chamberlain appeasement fiasco gave Churchill a foot in the door.

Tyvm for your analysis! The U.S. military wanted to invade Europe in 1941-2, while the Wehrmacht was mired in Russia. I've read that Churchill persuaded Roosevelt ("soft underbelly") to basically save the Empire's Mediterranean interests first, giving the Wehrmacht time to stagger back to face the 1944 invasion. You have given me another perspective!
War has nothing to do with heroism. War only has to do with a lot of politics, destruction, anger, hate, death, duty, money, economic standards etc.
you're wrong, you talk like you know anything about war but you don't. that's why they have medals of bravery to save your comrades, your country family, friends and your future. something you will never understand because you will be hiding like a coward when war happens and you will be found and then you will have nothing more say forevermore.
@@iamnotmental In 19 years I fought through 3 wars. I think I know what I am talking about. Anyway you have the right to your opinion. I'm glad you're using your freedom. I'm more of a memorial guy. So the ones willing can visit it and vist a place of remembrance. You know. A day like memorial day. Etc. Is nice to have.
