  • As the Russians moved towards Germany from the east and the Western allies attacked from the opposite direction, the Japanese continued their battle in the Pacific, fighting the American Marines to the death on the island of Iwo Jima. As the endgame loomed, desperate measures were taken by both sides and casualties continued to mount.

Pourquoi flouter l’horreur de la guerre ? Bien au contraire il faut montrer que la guerre c‘est l‘horreur et arrêter de cacher cette horreur en flottant les images

I deeply resent the redaction. We do not need to be treated like children. These are super important events in history, censorship is unforgivable.

After what the Germans and Japanese did to Warsaw, Rotterdam, Belgrade, Stalingrad, Nanking, Manila, no one should have the least bit of remorse for Dresden, Tokyo, Hiroshima or Nagasaki. None of this should have happened, but never forget that the Germans and the Japanese were the aggressors.

To go into battle knowing you were already dead, taketh the biggest balls possible. Pure bravery. Real men.

The dead should not have been blurred out, people should see the true horror of war.

Não me canso de escrever: De longe o melhor documentário sobre a 2 guerra mundial. Com uma ótima narração contextualiza os cenários da guerra e da política. Parabéns!

blaming the Allies for the destruction of Dresden is an obscene bit of pretzel logic. All the suffering and scary music would have been avoided had the German's capitulated... or even better, not invaded everybody in the first place.

Get a bit tired of the same machine gun fire audio sample being played behind every battle shot.

The U.S. and Britain saved france twice within 30 years each, and still the french have an aura of superiority about themselves.

This is great! Finally some European Documentaries translated into English! There must be so much of this stuff still awaiting the light of day. Never learned French myself; I did have a French girlfriend from Lille but she only spoke in vowels!

These documentaries are of superb quality What about a documentary on how they were created, by whom and how they were financed?
