Just saw the last few episodes of this season, Penelope and Colin's scenes felt rushed because of lack of space for their story, even though they were supposed to be the protagonists this season. And then the most important and most emotional scene in the book, where he and his family publicly defended her in front of everyone after people found out the truth, was cut. I can understand it to a point because it is an adaptation. But now, they are trying to make Benedict a polyamorous/whatever dude and Francesa a lesbian. I am speechless.
Eloise mentions in the last episode of this season that next year is her mother's masquerade ball. The ball where Benedict meets Sophie in the book. If they erase her from his story I am gonna be so pissed. That was one of my favorite books along with Penelope's, if they change it I am gonna be so mad. And then Francesca... you are telling me you are gonna make her a lesbian in the Regency era? Seriously? Are you fricking kidding me? I can understand the diversity in races, although not realistic in the historical context, the extravagant dresses and the adaptation of modern music for the dances, but holy shit, this is ridiculous. The show is becoming absurd.
Also as an avid reader of books in general and a fan of these books in particular, since before everyone knew about them, I am so angry at the producers of this show and a lot of others too. It is always the same thing. They use us fans of the books to have audience for their movies and series. They grab famous books to adapt them and then they destroy them, because...why not. If you are going to adapt books, follow the MF books. Respect the books and respect the readers that had made those books and the show popular in the first place. It is not that difficult to do.
Agreed! Benedict is a slut and hated those nasty scenes. This is a ROMANCE book NOT a sex book.
This is such a weird take. The books are so dated. If they followed the books, none of the men are going to remotely tolerable.
@@medioreblatherskite The books are based in the Regency era, the beginning of the 19th century in the UK. We can't talk about that moment in time using our own perspective in 2024 and our own opinions about life as a base. Changing things from the past because they are boring or you don't like them is called censoring and/or changing history, which, no matter what, no one can do.
People will learn more about the past and will stop making the same mistakes over and over (and lord knows people nowadays needs to remember what happened in the past again urgently) by seeing how hard life was actually like and how much people fought to change things. That's way better than hiding the ugly things because they are uncomfortable and modifying whatever people feels like it so that it fits our modern narrative. Romanticizing, in the process, a life that was definitely not as incredible as the show portrays.
And if you don't like the books as they were written, that has a simple solution, write new stories with new characters yourself. That's what our present day authors are doing as we speak, showing the future people of Earth how life is in 2024 and how much it has changed from a century or two ago, without forgetting there is still much that needs to be changed.
For God's sake, bring lots of Penelope and Colin scenes in season 4. we need them in every episode. best couple. We deserve to follow this couple that we have loved since the first season. the best couple.

She asked Shonda what was the most stressful situation? Lady Featherton situation made me cry - the Mom had to take care of 3 daughters - 2 of them clueless about money and running a household. When she said she married for security (last episode) - but her husband left her in debt! Very frightening...can you truly blame her for thinking of scamming the ton?, not knowing where the money is going to come from? Her situation was very realistic to me and my own Mom went through that after her divorce with my Dad.
My girl interviewer in yellow was not feeling it if she felt she wasn’t on camera. Even when she was on camera…..the energy…..🤔

Just watched the 2nd part 4 episodes. I have to slow clap well freaking done to the best 4 episodes of tv I have ever seen. Wow. Everything about these eps was stellar, and I laughed and cried, cocked an eyebrow or two, jaw hit the floor a couple times, and I just loved every second of it, except one tragic error in judgment on the part of the writers.
Only one flaw really. I am incensed that I won't get my Michael as he was the hottest character in the whole series and none of Francesca's story can happen without him. Literally. Michaela can't be the new Earl who feels like she usurps John's life which prevents her from being with Francesca, because Michaela is a woman so she can't be an Earl. Francesca can't have kids with Michaela, so her two desperately wanted children just died before they happened. As precedent was already set by Benedict's art class friend that same sex relations are punishable by hanging, we can't very well have Francesca hanged either nor hide her story from London gossips as she's the lead character. Michaela isn't the Harlequin Romance God all tortured, angsty, broody and sexy steel that Michael was. He was Edward Cullen minus the sparkle and blood. Face it, they got this one wrong. It's a change that cannot be made. Benedict can be bi, no problem, they've already got a date set for the ball where he'll meet Sophie. Hell, even Eloise could have a same-sex tryst and we'd believe that, as long as she still marries Phillip, but Francesca, well, that's just not her character and we're not going to buy that, and we're going to be furious to be denied our Michael who was the only part of Francesca's story that was even interesting. Bad move. It won't be worth watching if you have to completely come up with a whole new story. That's no longer an adaptation of the book, it's a whole new book. What were they thinking?

We don't give a flying fig about Lady Tilly and her whore man messing with Sophie's Benedict. Why Spend 5 scenes that crap??!!!! We don't give a care. Benedict is Sophie's not either of theirs. We want what screeners fans got! Including the changed one like having Colin into the carriage to see her home safetly after them almost getting caught against the door. Also we want Colin giving Pen Oral, The whispering in front of their mirror thinking back about their first time. We want it all!!!! Them laying in bed together about his journals!!!! The whole all over Bloomsbury Love-making montage!!! With how long we Polin fans had to wait for this season and the treatment Penelope and Colin got from the horrible haters in this fandom and that we got when defending them, We all deserve to get to see all the Polin cut scenes!!!! PLEASE!!!!! The season incomplete without all of it. You guys are professional and good at what you do so do what we ask so the season can be professional and complete. Nicola & Luke worked their butts off filming all that and then spending all that time promoting their season. Be repectful to them and us. If you want my future money you'll be smart and do it. I might just stop watching anything Netflix or Shondaland from now on until you guys give all the scenes you have taken from us. It's not hard, you can just add the cut scenes where they belong in the story then make an announcement. I know for sure the Polin stans will be hitting it in a flash of light speed. The numbers will go through the roof. Please and thank you.

it was genuinely so bad and overhyped. that grand PR campain, hundreds of interviews with the cast online and for what? definitely not enough intimate scenes between main leads (who felt like side characters and only got like 30mins screen time in total). unnecessary plots - the whole Mondrich storyline is completely and utterly unnecessary, Danbury’s brother, the appearance of MichaelA, weird Benedict’s shenanigans and him not mentioning art in a conversation where he was all about it? am i the only one that feels so sad and devastated for Cressida? her mother is physically abused (the bruised arm moment was so painful), she got ridiculed when Penelope got praised for the same thing? unhappy and restricted in her own life, Debling’s absence in part 2. he would’ve been perfect cause he isn’t engaged in gossip at all, and wouldn’t be interested in the whole ‘unmask the lady whistledown’ thing and could genuinely support her. i was hoping she would run out to him seeking help in her situation. or if anything, Creolise would make more sense as the lgbt plot than whatever the writers have in mind (however i’m not so sure anymore after how they’ve complextly ruined their friendship).

I read this series (and own it) years and years before it ever became a Netflix show. I was Thrilled to say the least. I loved Season 1...and I loved Season 2.... I felt Polin was done a disservice overall, as was the season, overall, was just not as pleasing for me. Polin felt overwhelmed by other storylines and too much time was spent with them unhappy. There were not enough romantic falling in love scenes over all. Still, there were scenes I loved, if not the whole season. But it was the last 5 minutes that seriously deflated me. The only season I have wanted since the books were optioned for a show was Francesca and Michael's story. It is the best book. He is the best male lead. The story is fraught with meaningful storylines, and then there is 'Michaela'. The whole WHWW book is destroyed if she is to be the lead to Francesca. Literally, it changes the trajectory of an entire book and I thought the main couples would 'never be changed.'... I am all for LGBTQ+ representation. There are rainbows all through my family. I love the use of diversity (though I'd love to see some more Hispanic or Asian rep in leads.), but changing a major character? Then I found out there was a new showrunner for Season 3 who was even quoted as saying she felt she was doing a little 'self-insertion' through Francesca. Ugh. That's why Season 3 felt different, and now she's going to ruin the best storyline of them all. Eloise was the perfect character to make LGBTQ+. Or, Cressida - hello, her actress is a gay woman! Worst possible choice. #JusticeForMichaelStirling
Disappointing with season 3 wouldn't bother with season 4 especially it's a two year wait. No thanks!!! 😂

Im very disappointed. Literally any and everything took from
Colin and Penelope's story. They told no story . They had sex once ,
got married and he seemed to tolerate her, he slept on the couch most
of the time. They and they fought a bunch or ignored each other for 3 or 4
episodes then at the end had a baby. Worst season yet. meanwhile
Benedict had a story, Francesca had one and a marriage, Violet,
the Queen, Eloise, Cressida all had a story but it wasnt their season.
After all the hype of PR promotion we got very little of the main
Characters together. Probably because they knew the main characters
had no screen time together in which they wasnt arguing or ignoring
each other, Especially since they trended worldwide
#Polin and Luke appears in public with his real GF not a day after
it released. Which killed it for ALOT of the younger Generations.

I think Jess as the show runner is an awful decision. The direction this season was too modern and it made no sense. The whole Benedict story line should have been left out it gave nothing to the story. More time should have been spent on the leading couple. The costumes were ill fitting and the make up was ridiculous. The way this season was received has made a lot of people annoyed and saying they will not be watching in the future. So many stories have been ruined because of this season, please go back to Chris please
