      And Fender. A Les Paul or SG with a good Hot Rod or Deluxe Reverb sounds celestial. 👌🏼✌🏼🎸☮️

    They both sound amazing, but I prefer the SG. Since the marshall has already such so much low-end and that the les paul provides a lot of low end too, the Sg balances really well. Nice playing!

    the les paul has that unmistakable velvet cream tone and the sg got that snarl and bite
    the les paul cant bite as hard as an sg, and an sg cant hit some of the tonal ranges of a les paul
    there really is no way for me to prefer one over the other. they are both perfect guitars on their own

    Personnally I couldn’t really tell when he changed guitar. Same pickups, similar construction, similar neck and wood (except for the maple cap) probably same scale lenght... on that video I closed my eyes and my ears couldn’t tell when he switch. Great demo😀👍

    Both sound great, but for me SG wins - sounds much tighter! Been playing SGs for my entire gigging life and never found a better guitar personally

    sounds great...The sg has a more mid focused tight tone. The LP is a little looser all over. The amp sounds like it should...awesome!!

    its a tie, they both sound AMAZING!!!! I'd be honored to play either one but I have a soft spot for SG's considering it's the only electric I have or will ever need =)

    At the end of the day a great guitarist like this guy could make a squier sound like a PRS. In reference to the vid, I prefer the crisp sound of the SG better but both are guitars I wish I owned together. Great setup BTW bro 👍

    What a coincidence! I compared my R7 LP and '71 SG Standard this past week. In my results, the LP was more mellow and the pickups were hotter (vol 3 on LP was = to vol 7 on SG) The SG was more aggressive sounding. Both sounded fantastic but quite different. THANKS!!

      All I have at the moment is a Zoom Q3 stereo mic. I didn't feel it would be sufficient for an online comparison.

    The Les Paul is a slight bit fuller, but I dig the AC/DC snarl out of the SG. Both sound fantastic through that amp. Helps having a great player doing the video as well.

    SG for sure but it’s hard for me to differentiate between which one is better. They both sound really good and have their differences. I love les Paul’s sound wise and look wise but I definitely prefer the SG. They’re just so biting and they make so many different tones

    The tone you get in your videos is always perfect, its always clear and cutting yet super fat! Will you do a vid on the bassbreaker 007? And how well does the tone in your videos represent the sound in the room, i'm guessing you're pretty good at miking ;)

    I've always, and always will, love the sg way more, not because of the tone but because how it feels in my hands. It's so perfect. the body is is skinnier and lighter and the neck feels amazing.

    I suck at telling the diffrence in tone, but here they both sound similar, however, the SG sounds a bit more snappy, whereas the Les Paul has a bit more bottom to it. But otherwise very close

    I love both guitars but I do prefer the Les Paul for the way it hangs on my body when standing up and playing.

    With that setup there would be no complaining from me either way! 😂 But I do prefer the SG. I own both and grew up with the LP but once I got an SG I fell in love and rarely pick anything else up these days

      Thanks Charles, yeah the hotplate is set at -16dB and nine o clock on the continous dial. And yeah it's a strange experience to stand and play I never do that! :-)

    where the pickups on both neck and bridge at the same height? in this comparison the les paul seemed to have more distortion i assume it is because of the pickup height

    I love the feel and sound and weight of an SG, but don't like how flimsy the neck feels. Les Paul sounds just as good, plays just as nice, while feeling like a solid chunk of wood.

      +Gary Dotson yeah, it requires a lighter touch/grip on the neck for correct tuning. I prefer LP for that reason too

    love the video-sounds like the SG had a bit more bite-I have Burstbuckers in my Gary Moore model and I love them-must be nice to play thru a full stack(settings?) don't your neighbors complain? how loud is it in your place? keep rockin !!

      Thanks! i used a hotplate -16dB and nine o clock on the continous dial. So it's relatively quiet. The settings are bass 0, mid 10 treble 7, prec 8, vol1 8 vol2 -10 but I used the two channels separately. Cheers

      +grrojo Thanks! :-) that's the strap that came with the R9. Many are leaving it and the rest of the "case candy" in the case in an attempt to increase possible collector value, which is absurd considering the production volumes :-) Cheers

    I like the sound of the SG but I like the look of the Les Paul.. A LP with CustomBuckers would be perfect ( 2013+ historics )

    he SG sounded a little clearer to me and not as compressed, which makes sense given the differnce in body mass. You'd never tell the difference in a mix though, and i bet the SG is 30% lighter!

      I have both, you can tell the difference. A les paul will push an amp harder even with the same pickups, because of the way its built... There's no better though. They're equal in my eyes. Very diverse guitars... I grew up a Fender man but I'm learning a lot about Gibson as I go too and I love having both in my arsenal now. Yin-yang if you know what I mean

    Nice vid, yeah les paul sounds fuller but they are so heavy... To me its more of a studio guitar.

    Hi Johan, the R9 still has Burstbuckers inside right? Maybe the difference would be more obvious with better PAFstyle pickups in the Les Paul, because BBs always sound a bit more mid focused with less highs, and so they easily match to the sound of the SG. Greetz from Germany ;-)

    I prefer the SG because you can roll off the tone a bit to get the same creaminess as the LP. However, you can't quite get the bite of an SG with a LP

    Both are Les Pauls. The SG is the modern version. The SG is thinner and lighter and that makes the tone a little less fat. I like the SG more. I have a 1968 SG Junior and love it.

    i need an SG in Cherry so beautiful and ive read that is has more high end then my LP, but i wondered what changes does it make if i play my Seymour Duncan SH-4 and SH-5 with and without pickups covers? :)

      +Jonas Jørgensen depends what theyre amade out of, if the covers are brass then with the covers theres reduced hight end, if theyre nickel silver i think ? (cant remember) then there wont be a difference

      +Christopher Alchin It's got a thin early 60s neck. Weird with a 61RI with a fat neck.. I do use fat necks on all my LPs though
