It was such a relief to learn that we don't need to eat cold pasta to be healthy. Cold pasta always tastes exactly like sadness.
Agreed
Hmm now I'm in weird position, bc I like cold spaghetti Bolognese, not like fridge cold but hmm idk room temperature, I forget the word 😅
@semilianooo I don't think that weird at all. I was thinking more along the lines of cold pasta salads. I find that they usually have a strange, almost metallic taste. Bolagnase sauce would easily drown that flavor out. Even if someone does enjoy the flavor of cold pasta salads, that doesn't mean they're "weird." It just means they have different tastes than I do.

hi
I used to work at Olive Garden. All of the pasta you're eating there is cooked, chilled and reheated before service (except in rare cases when they run out of ready pasta and have to make more on the fly). This protocol is pretty commonplace in restaurants, actually.
How else Olive Garden gets to serve unlimited bowls of food?
I love Olive Garden, it’s the fancy cheap food and it’s delicious.
Olive Garden is probably the one restaurant I can see myself sitting down at in the future without getting tired of.
That is good to know
Never ate there that's disappointing. I feel like the reason to eat at a restaurant is it's fresh and something I couldn't make myself at home. I mean it depends on the place. Like I don't expect bar food to be fresh.
@@violetdusk1968 bar food is some of the best. High quality and delicious! At least where I live
5:20 Therapist: Tony Starch doesn't exist, he can't hurt you.
Tony Starch:
Pasta is supposed to be shocked in ice water anyways to prevent the pasta from continuing to cook after being removed from the stove. As such, it’s the sauce that you add to the pasta that should be served hot with cold noodles. Hopefully, this will slot well into the idea that reheating pasta will increase the resistive starches.
Like, who’ll do something like that. I like my pasta hot, and my sauce hot as well. Only when they both cool down and I’m eating leftovers will I ever decide to reheat it, even if it’s better for me to do what you just informed me. I can’t change my ways in a snap of a finger (trust me, I tried doing such with my laziness, and it always fails). Now that I’m ranting about this, I wonder how it tastes 🤔
@@pistincup352 Just because you don't want to do it doesn't mean other people think the same way. The reason we shock pasta and noodles in cold water after cooking is to create a more appetising texture. It's the traditional way to cook it.

My dad told me about reheating things like potatoes makes the carbs healthier just like what you said about pasta
I was wondering if it worked with other foods too.
That’s actually awesome, because with my ADHD, and being a life long pasta fiend, most of the last ten years I’ve been making extra pasta to have leftover the next few days, either chilled or reheated. Woo hoo :)
Husb does same. Also works on potatoes and other root veg. Konjak noodles or ‘pasta’ using spaghetti squash are also good. Search both.
i have adhd and i am straining my brain trying to figure out how in any way the condition has anything to do with eating reheated pasta
@@herisruns I am presuming it just has to do with less effort for future meals. I have definitely had times that I have forgone a meal or eaten it way later because I hit a "block", which likely had to do with the effort of preparing something to eat. Truthfully I am not sure if this has to do with my ADHD, but I always presumed it did
My daughter is a type 1 diabetic. We always reheat her pasta because it helps to stop the spikes that just heated pasta does. It's nice to know this is the reason why it works :)
@@eugenekrabs7707 no it doesn't change the carb content but when you reheat and cool pasta it releases the carbs differently. I was cooling and reheating pasta WAY before watching this video
@@abooie ok, matpats video is still disinformation since he said that the caloric content is changed. But if it works for you for the right reason then that is great.
@@eugenekrabs7707 Where did he say the caloric content was different? All I heard was that it changes the carbs to resistant carbs, resulting in it being broken down and therefore entering the bloodstream slower.
And actually, it was implied that these starches can be so resistant they leave the body not entirely digested, so in that sense it could be said to have less effective calories.
@@6ThreeSided9 He was saying that reheating pasta can help you with weight loss.
@@eugenekrabs7707 jeez talk about double down disingenuous douche lol
Okay, so former OG employee here. Olive Garden actually already reheats the pasta in store as well. Part of the prep is to cook and then chill the pasta so it can be quickly reheated and served. So uh... you're already getting some of the benefits of this eating at OG. XD
Lol I thought it was a joke they reheated everything ZD
Old info not the new info
I mean it makes sense. pasta and stuff can take so long to cook. not super long, but when you're offering unlimited pasta to you're customers, you need to have a large supply. and food like pasta tends to taste better after sitting in the fridge anyways.
Never thought there'd be benefits to leftovers. Without even knowing about this science I've been in the habit lately of making large batches of pasta with the remainder to be used later. Might want to make pasta completely ahead of time now. Besides, while cold pasta with sauce isn't too great, some cold angle hair noodles by themselves are delicious, particularly if you added a bit of salt and olive oil to the water.

Fun fact for people who aren't aware: most chain restaurants like Olive Garden and Corner Bakery actually already do this to their pasta. It is generally prepped in large quantities prior to lunch and dinner rushes and then stored chilled for longevity, then reheated before it is served. So they are actually already serving you healthier to eat pasta!
I worked in several food places esp restaurants and can say that is true. Either made the night before or several hours before big rushes like lunch, dinner or even special events. I worked line cook and prep cook at the same time, we'd warm up the food before opening the restaurant and prepare little things specifically for breakfast for the deli.

so it,s not just me?
Food theory idea:
Is taste objective and whether you like it subjective, or does everyone taste different foods differently?
AKA Does everyone taste the same thing when they're eating the same food, and just have different opinions, or do they taste different things and have either different or the same opinion.
definitions at that level are not really concrete, but the best way to understand it is that we all taste the same things, but like different ones. What you taste and whether you like it in a way is really the same thing. We use the same mechanisms to distinguish tastes, but our brains interpret them differently. There isn't really even a shuch thing as taste: you like it to some degree, and your brain makes up different ways of liking things for different tastes
The reason some people taste some things differently is genetic. I’m not sure if this is the sole reason, but it is an important one.
I mean objectively speaking not everybody does, because some of those with synesthesia may have their sense of taste for a particular food register differently than people who don't have it. Plus any people who've lost their sense of taste, but if you're only looking by default at those who have a functioning sense of taste then uk
It is mostly subjective, however some people with different genes taste foods differently. For example, someone who has the OR26A gene will say that cilantro tastes like soap, because the OR26A gene makes you taste foods like cilantro slightly different.
As someone who is on a Keto Diet, and who LOVES SPAGHETTI, thanks for this vital information!

As someone who enjoys eating and cooking pasta I found this video really interesting and helpful. Although here’s a question that had to do with another theory you made a video on. Is there a pasta dish that meets all the nutritional requirements. I feel like not only me but many viewers would be interested in something like that considering most people enjoy eating pasta
Instead of using the meat sauce you find in stores, my mom created her own secret ingredient to replace the meat sauce (since me and my brother didn’t like the meat sauce). With the sauce she uses instead, we get our veggies in our bodies because of the sauce, but since the blender is MIA, we haven’t been getting those veggies, but once the blender is found, we’ll add that in immediately. My mom adds Carrots (for the color), Celery (for the taste) and Onions (even though we add Onion Powder, but I’m sure pure Onion helps with the taste). This alongside Sofrito, some spices (like Onion Powder) and Tomato Sauce all together makes the meat, and the pasta itself much more enjoyable to gulp down, even if we have the stomach capacity to have seconds. She later upgraded her secret recipe to include more spices to make it even better, which, we enjoy, but I was only really taught how to make the original recipe, and for some reason, I really want to add some Dorito Chips into the recipe for some reason, as a spice, make it into a powder (RIP Blender) and call it “Dorito Powder”. I wonder how many tablespoons or teaspoons would be in a normal, regular sized Dorito Bag if I put it into powder form. Until I am taught the full recipe of my mom’s secret recipe of her Tomato Sauce, I’ll just keep dreaming about using Dorito Powder, like that’ll ever happen. Anyways, now that I was talking about this, I’m gonna go and make myself some noodles. Just need to go and get 2 pounds of ground meat and Trio Italian so I can make this delicious pasta that I love so much

Literally every Italian:

As an Italian I can completely confirm this is true

Unless you ask about how usanians treat pasta...
or food in general.
This is amazing, because cold linguini Alfredo literally tastes better than when it's hot.
