- Today we are going to show you how to install a FULL-SIZED graphics card into the Dell Optiplex. The Dell Optiplex has a hard drive cage/bay right near the PCI-E slot. This prevents you from using some of the bigger/better cards on the market. By removing this hard drive cage, you can install any GPU your heart desires.

Tech Yesterday Still need help I am from the UK and the power supple does not have the same layout as UK I need some help with that and the new case fan does not ship to UK
@@yoahhehgoofyugh841 ?? Im also in the uk but I did it, what do you need help on? Ill try my best to help
@@mrepicbruh2839 okay so you know the power supply it has a different layout and the second problem is the new cases fan does not ship to uk
iSun Thats because your looking at a mini atx power supply or something, ill find you a good one if you want and just stick with the dell optiplexes og case or buy a different one, the process is the same
@@mrepicbruh2839 power supply problem fixed thx for helping now just got to find a fan for the new case i still want new case but if I can't find a fan that will ship to the UK i stick with the original case
Did this build and it works perfectly. Thanks. Subscribed and will stay for future uploads
OMG this is the info I have been googling for about an hour now. Thanks
I really need this I hope I'm able to build it later or sooner thank you so much man
Your builds are so crazy 🤯 ❗️ I cant wait for you to hit 1mill 💯☝🏽
Gaggins you son of B. Whats the ETA on your build. I want to help you out some how. I remember you said you were saving up or something?
Tech Yesterday I have 20 dollars saved up. I haven’t forgotten, I’m thinking of selling my ps4 games or something because I never play it anymore. Thank you, for being so helpful! How much should I save up ?
Thanks man for the videos and the benchmarks. I have a FX-4130 OC, 600W PSU, tomorrow i'll be getting a GTX 960 with enough clearance! My PC will be a beast in no time!
that's a huuge bottleneck. ur cpu is barely better than the q9650, that thing is 13 year old. u would be fine with an GT 730
Exactly what I was looking for
Hey man kinda late but congrats on 10k keep it up bro
Great vid man!!
Keep up the great work bro luv ur vids
Go in there with a magnet too after drilling. Good job. 🙏❤️🙏 Did it yesterday to my 9020 slightly different rivet positions but worked it out. Got my RX 480 in no problems. Thanks .
This is my favourite kind of video! Making an old pc great for gaming. 2020 I will make one of these ;)
Same lol
Can u make a video of u doing it and I will like and sub so I can do it too
I use mine for vr, that i7 2600k and a rx 580 is the perfect combo 💯👍💯
Congrats on 10k!!
I’m buying a optiplex tomorrow! Can’t wait to upgrade it
YO, another vid I like you are coming back with the semi consistent uploads. KEEPS GOING!!!
OG RIGHT HERE!
@@techyesterday4960 always will be :D
Great video. I am actually about to do this on a Dell Optiplex 990 tower and your video just confirmed my goal will work. Thanks.
Did it work? I’m boutta do the same thing
Alan Goberstein did it work? I’m thinking about doing it
@@sa5s183 it did. However I didn't use anything but the floor to hold the tower, so it ended up bending the bracket area for the expansion slots. It was not a big deal but made it so I had to remove the clip and use just screws.
Molotov tanker i was gonna do it at first but I found out that since I live in Brasil, optiplexes are expensive af and I could just get a brand new prebuilt for only a couple hundred bucks.
Great video! I recently removed the hard drive cage from my dell precision t1700 by using soft iron hammer and flat head screwdriver I removed all rivets like a professional not a single mark on the case of destruction. 😌
This is an awesome idea! Thanks for the video. Do you get nervous working and pulling on metal? Since your injury last year.
Thank you my dude! I literally needed this! (I built the 200 dollar console crusher BTW :) i didn't change the case tho thats too hard lol) Sick content tho recently
You have to remove all of the components to do the drive cage mod. How is swapping it to another case harder? O.o. It's actually less steps because you don't have to drill!
Does the PC work
Was it easy or hard
Jeremy Roberts obviously
Egg with 5k subs??? Believe me, on video it looks so hard in real life I literally didn’t believe It was that easy, trust me, its dead easy
Nice beat your are using on this video and a awesome build , advance happy new to you.
Thanks bro! You 2!
Badass! Exactly what I needed
Thank, GOD. I was just about to return this gtx 970, I tried this and it fits and works great
Thanks for Showing This. i was about to upgrade my pc but you saved me
🥰
I always waiting you dude to upload your content is so amazing keep it up dude❤️

Congrats on 10k subs I was your 10k sub with proof keep working hard‼️‼️❤️
Thanks brotha! Your loyalty and support means the world!
@@techyesterday4960yes me brudda
I ended up doing this today! Thanks for the tutorial! This was absolutely the best video I have found. Now I can fit my rx 580 8gb with no problem. Thank you!
Which RX580 did you get?
what rx580 and are you running the same frames as he is in the video?
How did you get the pcie lock into place my one wont go in with that card
This is awesome but could you specify more clearly where you drilled before removing the hard drive bracket? I am currently trying to install an R9 390 in an optiplex 990 nearly identical to this.
So Nice finally i found the way to detach the graphics card to clean my ram
Looks like he smashed some of the SATA cables at the ports when he put the GPU in, lol nice job! 👍 Noticed how the GPU is tilted upwards at the right side? Good lord, lol!
Love the content man keep it up
Properal i see you with all the support recently. It means alot, let me know if you have any video ideas that could help you out!
@@techyesterday4960 you should do a comparison in prices and performance with all the gpu's you used in the optiplex videos
To everyone changing cases are easier than you think just grab the motherboard and power supply with the parts on it and you have all the cables. Just put them in the case and you’re pretty much done
Will any case work?
Which pc case will work?
@@buzmie7435 any
Keep the Front connecter hub on just tuck it in the case
Wich also is great got usb rgb strips and all types of stuff
The tips for removing the riveted cage were tremendous! VERY helpful.
After I got it all put back together, I found that my new video card (GTX 1660 super) does not clear the ram tabs. The backplate on it is metal, maybe aluminum, and I could probably grind 1-2mm off and it would probably fit. Im hesitant to grind on a brand new $350USD video card to fit into an old PC though. It was going SO well until this hangup.
I might be better off to just scavenge the drive, processor and ram and find a new motherboard/case combo that will fit everything. SO... just wanted to put that out there as a PSA that GTX 1660 Super won't fit by just a millimeter or two.
hey, what did you end up doing?
@@lightninghd3281 I ended up using a Dremel to grind the ram tabs down so the GPU would clear them. It ended up not being that big of a deal and everything is still working great to date!
Best pc ever I did not know how to put a full size gpu in my optiplex finaly I don’t have to use my gt730.
How do you take the hard drive cage out ?
Nice man good work
Thank you so much you saved my day
Thank y si much bro y are awesome i had this problem
thanks bro great guide
I literally did this yesterday it’s really easy.
Lex Pavon I got the small factor i7 will the gpu fit or I have to get a bigger case?
@@luckful9044 if its a sff case then u will need a low profile graphics card ..
Love your vids❤️
Ayyyyyyy GG monnnnnnnnnnnn
Ok daddy
Are the sata ports blocked?
Also youre already at 10.5k subs? Wow Congrats.
Happy New Year 🎉
can you make a step by step full upgrade and tear down because I want to buy a Dell Optiplex and upgrade it with a new PSU and GPU. Also great video now I have hope to getting something close to a gaming pc.
I have the exact same card from the thumbnail, I was worried it wouldn't fit but I worked it around and it did!
hitjack64 I have the sapphire nitro Rx 580 and it won’t fit, I did the drilling. And it’s good but the width is to thick, like it gets in the way of the ram, what did u do?
@@Dyclor Nothing, I just inserted it i/o side first into the pci and boom.
My card's fan doesn't cover the whole card so it's just the card itself near the end. no shroud.
every inch counts in a small case like this.
If you have the same case as this ram shouldn't be an issue for you because the ram slots are above the card.
It's the sata ports that get in the way.
hitjack64 did u disconnect the sata cables, are they necessary?
@@Dyclor They are necessary to connect your storage device (e.g. Hard drive or SSD) to your motherboard, you only need to use one of the four ports.
so you're gonna have to disconnect your CD Drive, you don't need it.
hitjack64 oh thanks dude that’s all I needed
I fit a XFX RX 580 8GB in a mid tower case, I did it by removing the fan if the front and bending the metal a bit in the back and bending a bit of metal in the front, You can't notice it front since it's covered by plastic and no one looks are the back.
How did you mount the HDD? Did you screw it in under the optical drive mount? Did you leave it without screws?
Thanks man I was stressed I got rx 580 i7 4790 16gb 1600mhz crucial ram and 120gb adata ssd and a 7200rpm 1TB Seagate HDD I’m happy
Which motherboard have you used in the video?
Great videon👍🏻
Hello bro thanks for the video
TECH LETS GO I DID IT, the build turned out rlly good, runs super smooth and fast, and this is so worth it, everyone has to find out about this so they know pc gaming isn’t that much of a price, 🤩
New pinned comment brotha! Thank you for all the support and im pumped it worked out for you!
Finally love you bro!
OHH...NOOO.....I LOVE YOU!
Oh yo bro I am subbed to u since a long time
😊 My Dell 3010 thanks you and me also, cause saving $ so I can mod my Dell. Can't wait to start.
Did you start because i also have the 3010
So rx570 works in the optiplex 3010?
How much power supply I need
Nice one ☝️
Is this like for all dell optiplexes or specific ones.If u can tell me your one that you were using on ur videos pls tell me what the dell optiplex ur using is called.
You Frick in beast I had two hardrives I put one under the optical drive and gonna put the other one where you put it so I can sell my 1650 and finally upgrade
Can you make a video on how to install this whole build into the dell case? Thanks
What the top video card i can use for hp compaq 8200 elite mid tower i7? Btw great video👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Tha evil santa lough in music is best. ....hohohohoooo
Super bro you solved my problem 🤣🤣🤣
btw for the temp issues just take off the side panel
i have the big version so well it just fit
I had a full sized gaming chair and a whole optiplex delivered from ebau before amazon can even deliver my ssd or power supply. (Ordered at the same tine) love your vids btw.
Thankse voose. And ebay is low key slept on. Gets a bad rep. I use it over amazon daily.
Far out. exactly what I was looking for. Trying to install gigabyte geforce gtx 970 on dell optiplex 9020. Please suggest a good PSU. Thank you!
Thank you
Nice work! Looks like something I wouldn't mind doing. Only problem is that my dell Optiplex has a lowly I3-2120. I'm thinking of putting a I5-2400 or 2500 into it. any know if 3 gen cpus would work too?
i5-4690 is your best bet for budget, if you are willing i7-4790k should be supported but pricey
You can take it as far as your budget and imagination allows.
What power supply did you use and do you need one? Also how many watts
Can you pleas do build with the new optiplex 7040?
Thanks bro I am about get a dell optiplex 7010 tower and gtx 1050
Will this work on a Dell 755 Optiplex? Could you also suggest a processor combination that would work with this system? Thank you.
nice job ..
Would I need to do this if I were to buy the $250 build?
Do you have to reconfigure your HDD, after moving it to a diffrent partition slot
can you please do a full tutorial on how to build it with the original
optiplex case. i would literlaly love you if you did that!
Its already on my channel lol
Tech Yesterday Ik but can you do it with the tall skinny one (sorry I don’t know what the models called) or can you only do it with the mt case?
I had an issue with plugging the sata cables due to clearance with a larger gpu. Do you have any visual photos of that or video I have a nice full size gpu and currently using the lesser low pro card.
thx you
Great video. But what about the power supply?? Wouldn’t the RX 580 need more power
Yes
how do u think call of duty modern warfare would run and the fps
Pretty sure that 570s come in 10 inches. The Msi armor 570. So technically if you find the right 570 your set. Also you can do it this way or use a flat point screwdriver with a hammer and smack the rivet hard, But this way is riskiet as it can dent the metal
If the hard drive cage is removed is there still space anywhere for a second drive? Thinking of adding a sata ssd. If there isn't, is there anywhere the ssd could be mounted if the hard drive cage is removed? Thanks.
what screws did u use for the PCIe
Can anyone offer more guidance on how to put the new hard drive in the new spot? I already drilled out the hard drive cage
I have a $300 - $400 budget on a pc can you make a video on a pc with that budget that runs super well with high frames or can you just tell me what to buy and I’ll order all of the parts please :D
What PSU did you replace the old one with? Thanks
Do you think a rx590 would work in this build?
Did you change the psu and in the video are you showing the I 5 or i7 version
Did you need a 6 pin adapter for the card or it is already attached to the power supply? I'm new sorry
Did this back in 2006 with a dell inspiron and a geforece 6600gt
On your console killer vid i bought a evga gtx 770 do i have to get a evega gtx drivers or a normal gtx drivers
So a xfx rx 570 could fit perfectly without taking out HDD cage?
Is this the same build as the gaming pc case one just with another case
Best way is while its appart swap the psu with a nice modular one...
Only problem with these PCs is the 1% lows are really low. FPS isnt that steady. But its not bad for the money. But saving up for better parts is worth it
Is there a need for cable adapters? PSU or for the gpu
He replaced the psu with a new one that has a 6 pin connection for a graphics card
Hey man ! Bought an RX 580 , any advice on how to get it to fit properly? The backing plate hit the small clips that the ram goes into
Did you end up getting the rx580 to fit? I'm picking up a sapphire rx580 tomorrow and saw your comment
@@WIDERisBETTER yep it fits !!

Hello, we build the same pc with RX570 and i73770.it gets a little bit hot do we have to buy new fans for the case or ?
great video!
i also got 9010 optiplex, xeon 1225 v2 processor with rx 580 8gb card in it working totally great actually but was just thinking that can i swap my motherboard into another Case?
U might need a new cpu it may bottleneck ur gpu
@@MysticRose777 yes i do but it is doing good so far..
@nucking figger its about 9.13 inches.
Can you tell me if i could use a His Rx 570 idk the length but im more worried about the sata cables near the hdd caddy(bracket etc idk)
IS THE POWER SUPPLY SAFE?
Will it ruin my optiplex if I dont remove the other internal components. I dont really feel comfortable doing so. Plz Help.
Can you drop the link to the drill and the bits please?
