Of the 5 videos I found on CZcams showing how to do this, yours is the only one that taught me everything I need to know from start to finished. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you!

This video was an extremely good explanation of the basic features of the Multilevel list, including the only explanation I have ever seen of how to quick access the editing feature. Thanks for this great video.

Thank you so much for the video. Is it possible to have continuous numbering for all the levels from the beginning of the document/report to the end (irrespective of the headings/level).

i have watched about 10 videos on this. none of them show how to prepare a blank document for this. they all show how to do it if you already have items to list and "convert." how do you do prepare a document in a hierarchical format prior to even writing it? one that allows you to auto "tab" to each level?

Good video. I have a question. I have created a personalized multilevel list that reaches until level 7... (Example "Art. 125") the number 125 is the correlative. but I want to know how to Find that number very quickly using word tools, not using scroll bar. just TIPING "125". Cuz Word only find 125 if it is on the text. but not if it is part of the multilevel text. Thanks...greetings from Bolivia

Hi Kirt, so thankful for this video. Once thing that I cannot do, is to *center* an "Article I" number including a second line subtitle after I've inserted a line break between the paragraph number and the wrapped second line:
    Article I
    The First Title
    Can you please help?

If "The First Title" is supposed to be part of your multilevel list, apply the correct list style from the menu. Then right-click on the text. The context menu should show you an option to Set Numbering Value. Select that. In the next dialogue box, click the radio button to Continue From Previous List. But rather than pressing the Enter key to add space between paragraphs, you should modify the style to include additional space (either after the first paragraph or before the second paragraph; I prefer to work with space before).

I wish to know how to number my document as follows:
    1. a)
    b)
    c)
    2. a)
    b)
    c)
and so on using multilevel list on word. Thanks

I created a multilevel list where I defined the first-level number as a field with a number in it (the "1.") and then manually typed " a)" after that (include a space before the "a"). I defined the second-level number as "a)" to get the letter there. When applied to text, the first line is "1. a)" and the second line (when demoted to the next level) is "a)". In order to get that second line to start with "b)" you have to right-click on it, select Set Numbering Value, and then set the value to "b" in the Set Value To: list. It's a little kludge-y but it works.

    Level 1: 1., 2., 3.,
    Level 2: 1), 2), 3),
    Level 3: a, b, c,
    Level 4: -, -, -
How do you create such a multilevel list in Word 2019?

    • @guyivie8987
      @guyivie8987 Před 4 lety

Create 4 lines of text (I just typed the words "One," "Two," "Three," and "Four" on separate lines) so you can view the levels. Select all 4 lines and apply an existing multilevel list. Then click before the first letter of the word in the first line. Pull down the multilevel list menu again and click Define New Multilevel List. Now adjust each level's "number" in the "Number style for this level:" box to match your requirements. (For the 4th level, I selected "New Bullet" and then selected the dash from the window that opens up.) When you're finished, click OK.

    Great Video
Any idea how I can reference a clause number inside a paragraph...?
    i.e.
    7.1 Lorem ipsum....
7.2 Subject to clause 7.1 above lorem ipsum...

Use the cross reference tool. It's under the References tab.
