Great project friend of mine, it looks cool and the quality is so lo-fi that you might actually use it for garage recordings and it'd sound just great for the use intended (no doubts about any true garage band taking my advice) Don't be fooled by the comments below, at least you could make it out of trash for next to nothing(recycled parts ~$), just like stated in the title, but in my case, I would change the housing for something a little bit tougher, some copper pipe might be proper and would work just fine in order to block some Interference if there was any. You could record microphone sound in computer because hearing it from speakers in video, is hard to know true quality, but anyway, i think that quality is very good from what you callled trash
In this build you only need headphone's speakers. This microphone that I built is dynamic. And microphones that are included in the headphones are condenser microphones. If headphones have good sound then microphone made out of it will have a good sound.
