    Its scientific name: the (Tupy) Coereba = indigenous name of Tupy origin to a small blue bird, black and yellow, not confirmed by Garcia (1929); and (Latin) flaveola, flaveolus = diminutive flavus = golden yellow. ⇒ Bird yellowing.
    The Bananaquit (Coereba flaveola, Linnaeus, 1758) is a family of bird Coerebidae, being the only species of the genus Coereba. It has wide distribution in the Americas and is also popularly known in Brazil by the names of sebinho, sebito, shit-tallow and mariquita. English is better known as bananaquit and Spanish among its various names are reinita, mielera, pinchaflor, Santa Marta, cazadorcita and picaflor.
