Hi Jimmy! First of all thanks for the awesome content you put up week by week. My flight instructor was an actual pilot and FI on the Mig 15 17 21 series in the Hungarian Airforce. They did their whole training back in time in the USSR, he still has a ton of documentation and training material tucked away in his garage (of course in russian) for the Mig 15 as it was his all time favorite next to the Mig 21 BIS. After he retired he could still keep his pressure suit and helmet which he used on the 21, it was more like a spacesuit then just a regular pressure suit :). He also taken a G-meter as a memorabilia from the 15 and it is still installed in on of our flight schools motor glider :) (SF-21 Falke, look it up for some LOLs :))

We had an off base "base" in Tonopah, Nevada (area 52) that had a handful of those things there back in the 70's. They were tanks compared to the 19's and later the Mig 21's & 23's Those were heady times. I never flew the 17 as it was really old technology even back then. The 19 was a lot hotter bird with a top speed of over 900mph. If you buy this thing, buy a fuel truck!! Good luck Jimmy!

The price included the diss-assembly and crating of the aircraft, along with all training flights need to learn the airframe. Plus it covered the re-assembly of the aircraft once it arrived in the US. I am waiting to hear what your price is for this airframe. We had a pilot/owner bring one to our school airport when I was in UAS school. Without a doubt, it is one of the loudest jets I've ever heard. And it does take a lot of runway to takeoff. I have C-17s fly over my house about 1200 ft because we are in the landing pattern of the airbase. The huge C-17 with its massive four engines is not as loud as that Mig-15 was. I've seen F-15s, F-16s, F-18s, and they were not as loud, now they were in the air at 1500 or so and I know that's not the same as on the ground. The Mig is so small compared to the fighters of today. When I first walked up to it I couldn't believe how small it was.

@Destroy all Soy I believe you. I would have loved to have seen an F-14 takeoff in person. The F-14 is one of my favorite planes of all time. I still think our Navy would benefit from an updated F-14 platform like the Super Tomcat that was planned but canceled. Our military likes to throw the baby out with the bath water in my opinion. The same as the A-10 they wanted to get rid of. We spent so much money developing these platforms and with modern updates, the platforms themselves would be able to continue service with less cost per hour. We don't need all of our planes to be stealth planes.

Man, I don't know how you got your money, but at least you're doing cool things with it. There's a Mig 17 that might be for sale in Casper, WY at the war bird museum. It's painted all black with a red star. I was told the previous owned had dumped a ton of time and money into it before passing away. It's been sitting for awhile now. I talked to an AP there. He thought that it could be fully airworthy with about 1 mil to finish. I also believe that the engine had been rebuilt, and never installed. It's only money, right?

When we captured a couple of 15's the pilots that were dog fighting them could not wait to fly one so they could find it's weakness, they found that it took a gorilla in a steep dive to the right to hold the stick. That's were it was vulnerable so they would try to get them in a steep dive to the right.

Fun fact - the engine is basically a Rolls-Royce Nene handed to the soviets by our labour government (as long as they didn’t put them in military aircraft) and we now know that they would keep their word. They now owe the uk billions in royalties.

I would be fooling you if I understood all this. Wow, lot to take in with this airplane. My initial reaction is lot to understand and expensive to operate and initial outlook is the aircraft appears to be in relative good condition.
Time will tell. Step by step on this one. So so so very interesting. Thanks for taking us along. Looking forward to the next video.

Do it. We had someone up in Minnesota try to get the Crystal airport to extend the runway (at their cost) so it would be long enough for smaller jets. Allegedly he had purchased about 20 Mig 15's in various states of flyability and wanted to cobble them and make 5 flyable "fighter" jets but the powers that be didn't allow it. What a shame.
