hello again and because my hype for this ost cannot be contained here's the 283746928th version of The Edge of Dawn for youtube for a whopping six minutes lmao. This is the vocal version that serves as the ending theme for the BL and GD routes (though I recently did do the version that plays during the BE ending, The Color of Sunrise, with Israfelcello--check it out on his channel here: • The Edge of Dawn (from... )
I do really like the intro version and the BE ending version of this theme especially because they're so piano-y but the vocal version just REALLY grabbed me because it was this really cool lo-fi hip hop jam that I loved so much that the night before the game released I was already scoring it out. It took a LONG time and went through so many revisions, because while the sudden transitions in the original version are what make it so awesome, it is HORRIBLY awkward on piano so I had to take it back to the drawing board many times to work them out. (Many thanks to Animevivi for being my sounding board!!! you the man!!!)
It would have been very easy to turn it into a nice dreamy pop ballad but I really wanted to retain the feel of the original as much as I could, plus when have I ever wanted to make things easy for myself SOBS hence a bit more of the rhythmic elements. Striking that balance was what made this one probably the most frustrating and difficult arrangements i've ever done, like ever, so much so that Antidote feels like a walk in the park now and I should just really go and finish it lmao. Anyways I still feel like there was more I could have done to make it better but after six weeks and countless hours of going back and forth on it I just want it out of my freaking life now lmao, so here it is.
I still don't know how I feel about this overall hahaha and not expecting anyone to really like it but i'm hoping you guys at least find it different, that's really all I want hahaha. FODLAN WINDS NEXT
(sorry for the video sync issues you may notice during the end--recorded at fps 29.97 vs. fps 30 on REAPER and being a longer video than usual the drifting became more obvious after the 4 minute mark and I had to go in there and manually extend the vid by 0.2 second segments IT WAS NOT FUN ARRRRGHHHH i don't have enough expertise on how to transcode audio when I import it so that the frame rates match so if anyone can give me the tutorial for dummies I would LOVE that omg thank you)

aww thank you so much for the kind words, I'm so glad you liked my arrangement! as far as sheets are concerned i normally do not sell my sheets because it takes too much time to properly make sheets (believe me what I am reading off of only has half the notes lol), plus it's hard for me to relisten to my stuff without cringing lol, but I have gotten kind of overwhelmed with requests for this one so I'm actually reconsidering my stance on sheets. I don't think I could properly do justice to expressing what Fire Emblem 3 Houses means to me. Hearing The Edge of Dawn, especially with piano draws tears, almost without fail. It's not just the stories this game tells. It's the people, the friends ive met from this game.

I might be watching this video very late but this was absolutely sublime, I almost cried with the sheer emotion this gave me, even though I started the game not so long ago I could notice the amount of heart you placed into this, needless to say this piece is full of bittersweet emotions, but it should have always been a piano arrangement instead of a Lofi mix (although I really like the original version), but I do appreciate that you took the time and effort to rearrange the piece in your style

This is a fantastic arrangement and sorry to hear that it gave you some trouble, I think it's truly amazing how you made it go. You mention it could have become "a nice dreamy pop ballad" and I'd love to see you do something like that as an alternate take variant if you ever wanted (nickname it something like "dream of dusk").

I loved piano for a long time, didn't care much about learning to play it, but when I heard Ovelia Worries from under your hands, it pierces me that deep to buy some stuff and start to learn piano.

Ahh thank you so much for following me for so long and for the kind words, it means a great deal to me that I have somehow inspired someone to play piano and that’s just so humbling and a huge honor, more than I can put into words. thank you again ❤️ I hope you continue with piano when the learning curve plateaus off, many adults get discouraged. As for Vagrant Story: believe me, nobody wants Vagrant Story piano arrangements more than me, I love that game and that OST but it is so, SO hard to translate to piano because the feel is so ambient. I’ve had a few working drafts for years but nothing seems to work to my satisfaction. It may be beyond my skill to arrange properly, and I would have to commission someone to do it which would be a few hundred dollars, not cheap at all haha. So I hope you can understand why Vagrant Story piano stuff is a difficult reality for me to make happen, it is most definitely not for lack of wanting it to happen.
