All chemistry is physics at the atomic level. And it's part, quantum mechanics, also helps here.
@@gamergodsspoon3920 never said it wasnt. I was simply elaborating
The fact that this dude pours a corrosive substance on a laptop and called it physics had me dying
So much better when you know how physics and chemistry works before talking. thats middle school level.
The interaction between aluminum and gallium is primarily physical. When they come into contact, gallium does not form a chemical bond with aluminum, but it physically penetrates the protective oxide layer on the aluminum's surface. This weakens the layer, making the aluminum more susceptible to reactions with other substances like water or oxygen.
Although the interaction itself is mainly physical (with gallium infiltrating and distorting the aluminum's structure), it facilitates subsequent chemical reactions. For example, once the exposed aluminum comes into contact with water, it can react to produce hydrogen gas.
So, the aluminum-gallium interaction is physical, but it triggers chemical reactions afterward by exposing the aluminum to external reactants.
@@kamikazboy69I am sorry to make unpleasant comments, but - in the name of truth - I must do this. You are mostly wrong. The observed phenomenon is not related to the destruction of aluminium's structure, or removal of oxide and subsequent reactions with other elements. Aluminium oxide is removed by mercury, not gallium.
The real mechanism is the formation of eutectic mixture of gallium and solid solution of gallium in aluminium. If pure gallium is liquid, it means that the temperature is higher than 30°C. The eutectic mixture, which forms in these circumstances under the pool of gallium, melts at 26.6°C. So, this eutectic mixture must be also liquid at over 30°C. The aluminium casing under the pool of gallium turns into a mixture of liquid eutectic and loose grains of aluminium. It behaves like a liquid, if it is even slightly pressed.
@jarekferenc1149 bro, I've worked in leds industry for years, and we made them with some Aluminium and gallium derived product (to make AlGaN for blue and white leds).
I've never talked about gallium removing oxyde , just penetrating it .I'm so sorry, just with that point, you made me laugh.
The temperature range for them to bind together and make an alloy starts efficiently at 20°c up to 100°c. The gallium doesn't need to be liquid as water to start interaction.
Just buy some you'll see.
@jarekferenc1149 telling me I'm mostly wrong and not even answering a single time to my argument. 🤣 come on, melting point at 26.6 ( when it's actually 29.7) and you are telling me gallium is liquid over 30.
I wish I could actually understand what you all were saying.
All I see is…
“Hmmmm, gallium make laptop weaker”
First one is particle friction
Second one is gallium which does that to most metals
Third is different density and surface tension of different liquids
Fourth one is the framerate and oscillations per second being *near equal
Fifth is inertia :)
