1) Yes it is without a doubt possible to make a focused action thriller such as John Wick in India. Maybe this question would have left people in splits when the first John Wick released, but today, even Indian cinema has the potential to make an authentic action film. They have even been trying their best to bring in action, stunts and graphic violence into their film and also cater it to the family market. With new technologies being implemented and new directors and technicians and audience being able to accept such movies with an open mind and awe, we are moving closer step-by-step towards achieving this goal and success.
2) I agree with your opinion regarding this question. India doesn’t need to imitate or make a film like John Wick. But it 100% needs to learn from its success and international achievement and must also try to create much more action and stunt choreography oriented films instead of just keeping action as an element in the film to make the film ‘commercially’ successful.

After watching this I remembered when I was eagerly waiting for Rocky's HD print but unfortunate everything was censored. Even I wish for a story driven action movie like John Wick.
Are you talking about Arun Matheeshwaran's Rocky? If yes, yeah I agree with you. The one in CZcams has censored everything. Plus I don't think films like Rocky can cater to the general audience. I found it to be a bit too artsy with it's style of filmmaking. To be the next John Wick, you need to have adequate action

1) Yes, it is possible lets take an example as Vikram which gave the action sequences and if Lokesh Kanagaraj and others directors like H.Vinoth , Karthik Subbaraj would get together with not a high or low any budget but good story that make the world appreciate it

1. Yes it is obvious and we can make !!! Although i would like to refer one movie which Rocky handsome, i don't know why that movie is not spoken, it is one of the best action hand to hand combat movie ever made in Indian cinema, although it was remake of Korean movie, if you watch that Korean movie you will find this one pretty good, which doesn't happen most of the time, we always love original.

Actually in India cinema is made scapegoat for social issues, there is much violence in the topic of religious, caste and all !!! And after 7am arivu, we got to know it was us who taught martial arts, i don't know but somehow we were the Pioneer of that, so it was in our culture and we should explore it different manner. Keep this all aside, atleast in the sake of " trying something new " one movie should be made !!
And the pressure expectation, director has to take so much risk to do, if anyone tries to.
3. Couple actors like John Abraham he comes first to my mind, after watch pathan, Shahrukh Khan may be , and of course suriya and Vidyut Jamwal and tiger Shroff is obvious answers.
1. Yes it is possible to make a film like or even greater than john wick in india if it wasn't for the comercialisation mentality of the producers who won't encourage new ideas of young budding directors, and the censor board .
2. It is not necessary to make a film like john wick in india . we just have to set standards as high as john wick franchise has done both in terms of action as well as technical support.

For instance, in Kaithi, the battle sequences have an emotional undertone because characters like Dhilli had to keep their promise to bring the policeman to the hospital after Naren promised to help his daughter. In contrast to earlier Tamil films, when the majority of the sequences are superfluous, subplots today are likewise cohesive and contribute to the main plot. In films like Kaithi and Vikram, action scenes both advance the plot and elevate the protagonist. And if the actors are willing to reduce their pays to raise the production cost of the film, it is conceivable to make a film that is significantly superior to Hollywood's Jhon Wick in terms of both content wise and financially . Question2- There are a tonne of action thriller-based scripts that can be explored, so don't think it's necessary to make a movie similar to John Wick. By choosing a different kind of such a genre-based story, rather than just copying or being inspired by by John Wick(like atlee), one can avoid boring the audience and meet international standards.
Question3 I don't think it's realistic to ask the biggest stars, like Vijay, Ajith, or Rajni, to work for less money in order to boost the budget for the film. Nonetheless, only these'mass heroes' are acknowledged in India; they are not recognised elsewhere. It wouldn't be necessary to need stars to create a pan-global film; only performers who could do the story justice. Anybody who is physically fit and capable of performing incredible stunts can star in such films, and if that were the case, I believe Surya or Vikram would be the greatest choices for the role.
1. Absolutely. Honestly when I first saw kaithi it felt like we got our very own John wick in Indian flavour. All you need is a simple plot and just action driven storytelling.
2. Is it necessary…? No. But why stop the fun!! Action movies are always fun and especially when the action sequence has a story within it, not just some random punches and goons flying and insane fast cuts.
3. Who better than our very own action king!! Chiyaan Vikram will also be perfect for the age the swag. Honestly if they train well, the younger ones like Dhanush and STR can pull it off, can have a longer franchise and better budget

( It's my own opinion that LCU is kind of john wick style because they both have Same kind of setback lcu deals with the drug world and john wick deals with assassins or underground mafia world both have to many important secondary character and they both have great world building and in john wick 2 end there was bounty to john and in vikram end there was bounty to vikram and dilli and the scorpion symbol in drug packets was also there in john wick 1)

So I'd say a group of action filmmakers making creative low budget action films is needed to push this Idea.

Id say no as Raunaq pointed out in the end. There is already one in Hollywood. Eventhough currently it is the big films which are drawing audiences to the theatre, I believe now is not the time for this as , with RRR's global reach, i believe now is more than ever the time to focus on making films which are completely Indian.

1. Of course. We are capable to make a movie like John wick in India. But the Industry should focus on the way the John wick team focused. Firing the gun with zero bullet (Indian films).

1) It is possible to make John Wick in India but we have to alter it to fit with our culture and making it more relatable. Plus we could use the basic idea and develop a more ‘Indian’ story around it, obviously with extra masala, but we could reduce the amount of songs in films (eg. Vikram). We should choose a powerful, memorable and affordable cast who suit the character. We could even add a few extra comical ( preferably dark comic, eg. Nelson’s Doctor) characters to drive the story, in an Indian way.
2) I don’t think it’s necessary to remake John Wick in india, but we should definitely learn techniques, ideas and etc from the franchise and implement it in the India industry. Although, If we remake it, the current audience would have a positive reaction toward it as the whole of Indian industry is also in its ‘Gangster-Smuggling-Action’ era (Vikram, KGF, Michael, Pathaan, Thunivu, Pushpa, etc.)
3) I have a few in my mind for being cast as John Wick. Dhruv Vikram, Dhanush, Mahesh Babu, Silambarasan, John Abraham, Vikram, Arun Vijay, Arjun, etc. Dhruv Vikram has the stylish and sleek body of John Wick and the action will suit him, plus he already contains the Mass from Varma. Dhanush is an amazing actor, he is one of the most talented actors in Indian cinema. He has the sleek style, the calmness, the action and he can act amazing. I think Dhanush would be perfect for the role, with the immense mass from the Tamil crowd. Mahesh Babu is also an actor of great caliber, he is also very calm an can contain the emotions within, like John wick, he also has mass from telegu industry. Simbu is back and he is on fire. Simbu now has an athletic build long hair(if needed) and he is an amazing actor. After Maandadu, everyone faced a side of Simbu he never showed. A calmer more thoughtful one. John Abraham is also a good actor. He has the necessary body style and look for John wick. He even showed how much of an assassin he could be in Pathaan ( although he can do far better surely ). Vikram is an obvious choice. He is has already acted many dark roles and stylish roles. Plus, his appearance in Dhruva natchathiram will make his assassin like feel stronger. He is obviously stylish and sleek with amazing talent. Arun Vijay has it all. Experience working as a sleek, stylish, dangerous man and he is also a good actor as John wick. Action Hero Arjun is obviously an action hero. He is known for his fights, toughness, and recently his alter ego. He has been in the industry for long and he also gets better with age. At the end I am not entirely sure of whom to cast, as it is up to the director’s choice. Maybe even a new actor whom is directed properly can ace this as anything is possible.
EXTRA) Director choice. The directors I feel like, can completely eat this story and idea up are: Obviously Lokesh Kanagaraj is the best Choice. I also think AR Murgadoss, H Vinoth, Nelson, GVM, Pushkar, Venkat Prabhu, Pa.Ranjith, Shankar, Mani Ratnam, Nalan Kumarasamy, etc. I chose these directors as they all make top notch action movies and are known for their unique style. I think Loki is the best because of his importance to every character, character arks , twists and his ability to keep us engaged(like you said). If not Loki, then my next choice would be between Nelson, H Vinoth and GVM. Plus, I really want Anirudh or ARR to score for this as the music also moves the movie. Ani has been the top choice for everyone recently, he made Vikram more better than it already was. ARR is obv amazing. He’s been making music for all sorts of films. Anirudh made iconic scores that gets stuck in the mind. Plus, he has the modern unique style. Rahman has his own style and way of scoring, he usually uses the story to get inspired.
Tbh…I wanna see every version of this…or even its own Universe or Multiverse!

At one end we have the great technical expertise to achieve the style but on the downside filmmakers aren't really exercising the use of Practical Effects which is the main soul of John Wick franchise. And the safety of Stunt choreographers is something that should be improved in our cinema
2) There's nothing like Necessity in the concept of art. Everyone can try anything at anytime no matter the era it is. While "John Wick" franchise takes its inspiration from the South Asian and Vintage hollywood action movies, it doesn't feel like a Pastiche but something original on its own. The Wickverse is loaded with firearms and in India, the firearms culture isn't really a thing compared to the US. For eg. Malayalam film "Ranam" was technically a good pastiche of "Drive" but it doesn't really have the Indian soul to it. Similarly, if we are making a John Wick franchise in India, it would be better if they feature an indigenous martial arts style which could give exposure to those endangering martial art forms. If the Necessity arrives to make John Wick styled films in India filmmakers should give concern to this point.
3) The Indian actor I would pick for "John Wick" would be Chiyaan Vikram. He has the prefect stature and the agility to pull off the realistic action sequences just like Keanu Reeves.
