    I'll add that this was a very interesting experience overall for two reasons. I've flown Ravn before, but this was my first time flying them with a lengthy maintenance delay. It's always interesting to see how smaller airlines deal with delays. To Ravn's credit, they didn't cancel the flight. They delayed it by around 3.5 hours until a new plane was available. I don't know what was broken on the original flight that caused us to return to the gate, as the crew never said. But, again, kudos for not just cancelling the fight. What made it more interesting though is that the passenger next to me spent his 3.5 hours at the bar... So... I did the very best I could to fix the audio on this flight. But, if you notice small things that don't seem quite right, it's because I had to use audio from a previous Ravn fight where I had the same seat, and I had to replace large portions of this flights audio. If you can believe it, I literally had another flight with this same exact flight attendant, so it is hard to tell because the announcements are being made by the same person. The passenger next to me was... Well... Let's just say he was so inebriated by the time the replacement aircraft arrived, that he was very unpleasant to sit next to. Large portions of this flight's audio had very loud and profane language accompanying it. And that is on the parts where he wasn't trying to hassle me and talk directly into my camera. It was not pleasant... Ravn also offered everyone on the plane free drinks due to the delay, but this, as you'd expect, only made said passenger worse... So, I hope you enjoy this one, because I put up with a lot to bring it to you haha!

      I was on a CRJ from FAR to ORD on Christmas Eve across the aisle from a guy who also sat at the bar for hours before boarding … suffice to say he was a larger person and nodded all over the place once we were air born as as well exposed some not-so-flattering skin as he leaned. Wish there were boarding restrictions for these types of situations!

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před rokem

      @mark billings Yes, I hear you. Technically there are rules about this, but they're enforced by gate agents most of the time. And frankly, gate agents are underpaid and overworked already. Many of them simply don't want to add "dealing with drunk passengers" to their list of duties, even though it's part of their job to determine if someone is coherent enough to board. Speaking for personal experience, as I worked as a gate agent for awhile years ago in college, the airline asked you to do many many things in a very short period of time, and regardless of what the airlines say about safety, their number one concern is always getting that plane out on time. So, if I had a drunk passenger and the flight took a delay because I was the only agent, and I was stuck dealing with said passenger, I could then code the delay to "safety" or "passenger disruption" etc. But, that delay still counted against my overall performance, even though I was doing what I felt was best for the flight. So, unfortunately, where there are rules in place for this type of thing, it's not usually in the employees interest to deal with it, because they simply don't want to, and it'll hurt their performance anyway.

    The footage is perfect and the fact that it is possible to look from the window at the plane's engine makes the image perfect, not to mention the perfect sound of the engines and the incredible landscape of Alaska.

      You are correct. Which is why I was able to save this flight at all. Most of this flights audio is not actually from this flight. Thanks to a very vulgar, drunk passenger next to me, I had to replace large parts of this flight's audio. And because I had the same flight attendant on multiple flights, I was able to do so without the flight attendants voice changing halfway through haha.

      @sla31  Před rokem +7

      If only I were rich haha. Believe me, I'm not. If I were you'd see a lot more really cool and interesting stuff on here. The truth is that it's a monthly struggle to keep this channel aloft (pun intended haha). I've run this channel by myself for 7 years. In the last year I decided to try to do this as my only full time job. I budget every month's travel/flights down to the penny. And I've had more months of losses in the last year than profits. I carefully plan every flight you see on here to try to get the best deals, while still providing a good variety of content that's both interesting and intriguing. If money were no option you'd see me in Antartica on an A340 or in Emirates first class like Sam Chui haha. I do the best I can, with what I have to keep things interesting. And I'll fully admit... CZcams ad revenues have been way down recently. So, I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to watch, comment, like, and subscribe. I'm not rich, and I sustain this channel primarily with the ad revenues. Without everyone watchman every day, this channel would cease to exist very quickly. Anyway... The point is, that I'm not rich. I run this channel on a shoestring budget a lot of months, pumping a lot of my own money into it. I fly roughly 8-10 days per month. But when I do, it's just to get footage for the channel. So, I often fit 3-5 segments in every day. My record on several occasions is 6 in one day. So, I fly enough when I do fly to post ever day, but I don't fly every day.

    In my theory and hopefully happens or just a dream. Those Dash-8 -100 is a very excellent regional aircraft and flown many times under the U.S. Air Express inter Florida in the 90’s and they now old and needs to be replaced with new second hand aircraft. For me it’s look likely they will be replaced with some or the entire fleet of Q-400 from ex Horizon Air as Alaska Airlines plan to retire this year and hopefully it’s happened as find financing the aircrafts

    Won't be flying this airline. Looks like the return to the gate was a landing gear or hydraulic problem notice the doors are down before the engine start. Maintenance was up there. And after landing and parking the pilots were checking the prop pitch on this other plane. Knowing Alaska mechanics not surprised.

    • @sla31
      @sla31  Před 9 měsíci

      I mean, this is hardly the first airline I've ever had a hydraulic issue on, so if we're using that as our standard then I guess we shouldn't be flying any airline at all haha. I once had an American Eagle ERJ completely loose steering, an American 757 vomit it's entire supply of hydraulic fluid on the ramp during pushback, a Delta A319 that had it's spoilers stick in the up position, and I could list 10 more. Thanks for watching my friend!
