the character development is clear. Paddington has made them all into quite nice fellows. Had those words been spoken about them in the beginning they would've been extremely angry.
I like to imagine that they all hang around there every visiting day hoping someone will want to introduce them to their family, and that was the first time ever that they actually knew it would happen and were really excited while they were waiting.

He did it the paddington way: he proved him wrong. He proved he’s smart enough to know the difference between light and microphone. He embarrassed mr brown.
