Yeah people that do a jump attack. Then they poke a few times. If they use an ash of war, it's the covering your weapon in rock one or endure. Their way is just as boring and safe as his.
This playstyle is not without it's drawbacks, if I remember correctly, he's fat rolling. He traded agility for defense, a valid tactic, in my opinion. (And even if I thought it wasn't a good tactic, I ain't about to tell people how to play the game)

@@golik133it's not a counter. If you use shield crash with bleed you can easily over dps her lifesteal. The only real counters are status effects and grabs.

It actually happens to quite a lot of builds, that you have all these tricks, spells and combos... but against truly hard bosses, you are usually devolved to getting One Big Hit every 15 seconds. So naturally greathammers and collosals, buffed to max are the key :D

I found messmer easier than rellana, he has more punish windows and is actually susceptible to bleed so your lightweight build could still work, just some learning to attack delays is what's probably holding you back

Honestly I like that this kind of build is possible. It always felt strange to me that past a certain point in Souls blocking with a shield became a bad strategy. Why make mechanics and then have the endgame zones/bosses render those mechanics meaningless? Having "be super tanky and have a giant ass shield" be a viable build that has gear to support it is awesome.

What you really gotta do is go for a stupid powerful jump attack double twinblade seppuku build and melt anything short of that fucking ancient dragon and that other dragon. Using gargoyle's twinblade and the twinned knight swords on a strength build gets slightly better damage than a godskin peeler build, but also let's you use the GOAT occult giant crusher and Marais executioner sword

Xqc had a full STR build before the DLC and ended FULL STR after the DLC. It's your playstyle, you can play Meta and Off-meta at the end of the day it's the person behind the controls that will dictate the rest. So yeah the build don't matter as long as the person know how to play the game

Game isn't too hard, people are just too stubborn to try different things. People who chose not to use certain things in the game and complain about the game being hard have only themselves to blame.

I don't see any reason to not use them since they are useless outside of it..

I think you underestimate the sheer number of people that used nothing but Rivers of Blood or Moonveil the entire game. This is my first souls game and even to me, there are a fck ton of tourists out there. They cannot be bothered to look something up or figure out how anything works.

This isnt some new meta Asmongold found out about. Using the fingerprint shield and just holding down the block button is something every 5th person uses (and used before Asmon) whenever I invade.
There are lots of tools/strategies to triviliaze boss encounters.
-Summoning (Ashes, NPC, Players)
-Scarlet Rot
-Certain spells (Comet Azur + Flask + Terra Magica combo on certain bosses)
-Certain incantations (AoE Lightning against bigger bosses one shots them)
and way more.
At the end of the day the game is about having fun. Some people like to kill bosses using a greatsword, playing it solo and just use the roll button - other people like to become parry gods, other people like to cheese like Asmon usually does, and some people even like to cosplay as necromancers and just summon a skeleton army.
But yea, chatters/viewers are usually retarded. Whenenver I join a stream (same with Asmongolds) the viewers just spam misinformation about Elden Ring because they have no idea what they are talking about.

I do the same build and make it work …. Asmon can’t learn to expand his weapon uses . I always step away from the shield counter build because I like variety. But the stagger damage alone from the guard counter is nice .
