Went to an air show as a young kid and I’ll never forget the solo coming in from behind. By the time you hear the sound and realize what’s happened he’s already in another zip code
Just went to a Blue Angels show yesterday, knowing that there was gonna be a sneak pass at some point. Unfortunately, It happened just when I was trying to get up to fix my chair, sucker flew right over me and almost gave me a heart attack.
I was in desert shield. We were taught to always count planes. Common tactic is to fly a formation of 5,6,7 in plain sight out of reach for recon, make a loop back, but 2 are missing and those 2 are the ones that kill ‘ya.
Went to the air show at McGuire AFB few years back. Awesome display. Spent 7 yrs in the Marines, it never gets old. Never. Two tours at MCAS El Toro, 3rd MAW. Gotta love those F4’s too
that was right over head I am surprised they did that. That is one of my favorite parts of the performance, the sneak attack they do. just all around great performance from the Blue Angels, the Thunderbirds, just damn proud to be an American!
Went to my first airshow about 25 years ago and will never forget the sneak attack. The rest of the show I was looking for the solo plane and what he was doing.
About 10 years ago, I lived on Nellis AFB and could watch the Thunderbirds from my yard. All year long they would practice their show routine sometimes twice a day during air sho season. I had people tell me it would get old hearing that noise after a few months ... no way, it was still an awesome sight even the day we left after being there 4 years.
The Blue Angels are just the best! I saw them and this trick at Austin-Straubel Airfield when I was a boy. Great gimmick. The one plane flying close to the ground is beating the speed of sound so you don't even know it is there until it is right over head on the way past. The pilots in the sky are a beautiful distraction during that moment. Awesome! America's heros. Knights of the air.
They're not allowed to break the sound barrier usually, so they'll be around 700mph during the sneak pass. That's why there's no Sonic Boom, just a lot of decibels all of a sudden.
That was the best sneak pass i have ever seen. I have been to airshows in Chicago in the past and Indy. Excellent shot. PS. I would of pissed my pants also!
@@cha-ka8671 I've seen them at less than 50ft for 5s sneak at the homecoming show. Check with the Fighter Pilot Podcast interview about the making of the new Top Gun, because a former Blues' solo, Walleye, did all the low level flying for the movie.
Chicago used to be the best place ever, the restaurants, shops and museums….no garbage in the streets. I could never figure out why anyone would want to go to NYC. And yes, I’ve been to both. Went into NYC often as we lived in Connecticut. That was the 80’s and in the 90’s Lived just outside of Chicago. We went there more often than we did NYC. It was far better
Oh my lord, I miss Moffett Field. My dad used to take me all the time there. The best air show I ever saw there was when the Thunder Birds and the Blue Angels were there at the same time. The Thunder Birds went first. There usually was always an F-14 as well.
@@RumCaptain Way back before "Silicon Valley" existed, my family had a tomato ranch under final approach to Moffett. As a girl, I used to sit on horseback and watch the jets come in. All gone now.
By the way, this was shot from the north breakwall of Diversey Harbor, not Belmont Harbor. You can see in the video that this is from the very north boundary of the water security area. From where I was, it looked like the plane cleared the height of the trees out there maybe 10 or 15 feet. I'm not exaggerating. Great video!
Saw the Blue Angels at the Peoria, IL air show several years ago. They had a practice day where they flew over my house just above the trees and I could almost read the name of the pilot on the aircraft.
That one was super low...all the ones I've been to they were at least a 300-400 feet or more..that would have scared me too. That was right on top of everybody. Killer pass tho.
i saw them for the first time this year (2018) in Traverse City Michigan and they scared the crap out my girlfriend and I! they can be sneaky and come out of nowhere! One flew right over us going super fast and low!
That sound never gets old...
And it never will...
Right on
I just happen to live down the road from pensacola NAS. The blues buzz my house all the time. Never gets old.
Went to an air show as a young kid and I’ll never forget the solo coming in from behind. By the time you hear the sound and realize what’s happened he’s already in another zip code
Lol…. Another zip code
lmao another zip code. good analogy. going to borrow that one.

@Nuckis now they do the change over roll instead.

You can hear that lady say: 'I think I just peed myself' chuckle
they get people every time with that one
I was at an Air Show and a 'Fighting Falcon Thunderbird' did that. lol
Got me three times! 😱 I was like, "Geebees! Where did that come from?" each time!
Went to the air show at McGuire AFB few years back. Awesome display. Spent 7 yrs in the Marines, it never gets old. Never. Two tours at MCAS El Toro, 3rd MAW. Gotta love those F4’s too
I salute you thanks for your service this was an awesome video
Never lose track of the solos
"Alright, nice and slow guys-"
"READY OR NOT HERE I COME"
"DAMMIT CARL"

👍
0:52 the bird 😂😂
Could've ended really bad for the jet
That bird died.
Yes!!!! That bird really help set that up! I bet they were shaking for a while! I love that power! Hahaha
Maverick, never ever leave your wingman!!
Went to my first airshow about 25 years ago and will never forget the sneak attack. The rest of the show I was looking for the solo plane and what he was doing.
I'm pretty sure that bird had pooped his pants.
Tou Wan Moua pretty sure the guy filming did to.
+Tou Wan Moua bIrds do in fact wear pant;) lol good pass
Tou Moua I feel bad for the bird 😝
If the bird was ingested, it doesn't spell immediate disaster.. basically the pilot would lose one of his engines at worst.. and continues flying.
John Lebesis single engine loss isn’t that bad in an f18.

That's awesome, even that bird was like "holy s*** what was that"

In a conflict you wouldn't know it hit you.
andgate2000 Exactly! That sucker would be on its way home in the meantime
In a "conflict" you wouldn't even hear it.
It's referred to as a silent killer.

Blue Angel #5 is cleared down to 50 feet for the sneak pass, so it was right around 50 feet from the deck.

I took my son to the Chicagi Air Show in about 1984-85. We saw a B-52 and fighters. He is now designing aircraft for Boeing. The show impressed him.
This has got to be the best reaction to the surprise pass!
Might be this one as well ;)

Never trust the diamond
love it in slo-mo.........Blue Angels trademark...GO NAVY!!

Bird: Hmm this is a nice day
Blue Angle: Flys Bye
Bird: Holy crap! I almost just got obliterated!
I've learned that you look for the one you can't see
I knew it was coming and my heart was stopped for a moment!
Was absolutely awesome!
They love doing that sneak pass. I bet the pilot was grinning from ear to ear as he flew over the crowd.
Blue Angels Airshows never will get old.
Holy baby jeebus, i dropped my phone. Daaaaaaamn that was awesome!!
The moment people realize they could be dead now (if they were the enemy).
Those pilots are very special people

One of the coolest things in the world to experience
The first time I saw the Blue Angels was probably in the late 50s at Moffett Field. Been a fan ever since.

I got sneak attacked this weekend at the California Capital Air Show, it was so great!!
That's what you call a Sneak Pass!!!
Wow! Great vid man!!
Haha these never get old
That was very close to being a bird strike.
liciousvicious it's a visual illusion that bird is only 30 feet off the ground where the f18 is at least 85 to 100 ft
if it was close enough that bird would have p been hit by jet blast and most likely killed
That bird died.
@@patriotsfan1236 Yes. The bird was killed.
This could have turned. Ugly. Thank goodness the timing was off
Love the sneak pass!!!
Harharhar scared the crap out of me the first time too! Out at NAS Miramar back in the day.
That was awesome!
love blue angeles good video

Gets em every time. LOL
The vertical 'Corkscrew' reminded me of a time I saw a 'double' in 'Nam'!
Saluting the bird that you can see actually dodged the jet that nobody saw coming
Great timing by the gull. L.o.l. Magic.
holy shit!! that even scared me!
That bird at :54 almost ended the show lol
Just makes me so proud to be an American!
O
Sensacional que barulho lindo.✈️👏🎉🎈🇧🇷
That was epic. Please come to the UK and do that.
partybiscuit Only in the USA lol
That solo fighter is deadly
Thanks for the slow mo.....did not see it in actual time !!!!!
The bird is in therapy now.
The bird is dead.
That is what is meant by "Air Superiority". You can't hear us coming until we pass. By then........
If you can say "what was that?" You're still alive!
They use to say, you have just been shown the art of tactical surprise!
Well now *that* woke me up! 😳
Best sneak attack yet!
That bird was like: Dude you cut me off !!!
Are those the sound of the vortices after he passed by? Sounds a lot like other jets but all of 'em are shown.
0:54 When you accidentally hit a Doorstopper at 3 AM in the morning.
00:51 that is the best because everyone was looking at the 4 angels and then... bammo!!!
That poor bird was like “FFFFUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKK!!!!!!!”
Now that's a sneak pass well done
You can hear it coming cus hes going faster thsn sound!
So cool
They can't go supersonic at that altitude, if he went faster than sound, they would be deaf
No. About 500 mph here.
That seagull was like "I'm out................"
I think the bird pooped too! Lol
I almost frickin dropped my phone
I Didn't know whether to wipe my #=$@
Or grab my phone when it fell LMAO 🤣
SUPERIOR SOUND QUALITY
Now thats a sneak pass
I have motion sickness now!
They do this at every show lol.
But imagine if that was a missle... and bear in mind that they can go up to march4 twice as fast as the f22. Nice shot lol.
That made me jump 🤣 🤣🤣
the oldest trick in the book, and still works.....
Best sneak pass ever!
Blessed be and sending gods gift a secret of love
Who’s in the air and water show 2019 while watching this
1 year since this beauty happened
How high was that? 60 yards?
Hello new driend from kuwait
Probably scared the crap more outta of that bird than the crowd lol
That one was super low...all the ones I've been to they were at least a 300-400 feet or more..that would have scared me too. That was right on top of everybody. Killer pass tho.

Nah, they do that. I was at an Air Show and a 'Fighting Falcon Thunderbird' did that. lol
God I love America so much
Just happy the solo pilot didn't have a bird strike!
They did that to me at Miramar a while back.
When you see four blue angels flying alone get ready for your ears to let you know why. 5 and 6 love to sneak up on you full afterburner.
That is so cool
USA is a great nation. ( police officer from tunisia).
The bird flying by was like" WTF"
They're like deer. Always have to keep an eye out for that last one.
Wow, how sad! The Blue Angel sneak pass caused this person to have an Epileptic seizure
That one jet scared the sheit outta these women
God bless America🇺🇸

They fly right under the speee of sound for this if I remember right, just fast enough to sneak past you before you can hear it
