    It's good to see you back in the the original boat fishing like you did 20 years ago

      Just like riding a bike Dave! I'm not sure how I used to sleep in though 🤣

    Love it mate, reminiscent of fishing the shallow mangrove flats in the Tweed for summer whiting with my dad in late 70's. Ripper vid mate 👍

      Thanks Daniel! Whiting will always be one of my favorite fish. Can't beat the way they bury their head right beside the boat.

      @@adamneeson right on mate...the only thing that comes close to that is how bloody fantastic they taste!! Lemon soused whiting fillets...unbeatable!

    A great video. Thanks for sharing. Blood worms are certainly the go in the Nerang. One theory is the whiting aren’t interested in yabbies as there are no yabby banks up the river, so they’re not their natural food. Yabbies work ok in the Coomera though as there are good yabby beds in the downstream section. But everyone had their own ideas about why some baits work better than others.

      Thanks for the compliment! I agree with that theory. There are yabby banks in the areas I was fishing, but worms will normally out fish the yabbies. Though I've noticed that if I'm catching stingrays then yabbies will work better. My guess is the whiting hang around the stingrays to pick up their scraps.

    HI Adam , the Alvey reels you are using are they the 6' A5. is the a5, stand for shallow spool.??
    Cheers Chris

    • @adamneeson
      @adamneeson  Před 6 měsíci

      Hi Chris, my whiting reels are an Alvey 625B. It's the smallest capacity Alvey reel in the 6inch range. I prefer this because it's hard to fill an Alvey with 3kg/6lb line. They are a graphite backplate with plastic spool so they are nice and light.
      I'm not familiar with all the part numbers but the first number 6 denotes the spool diameter (6inch), the second numbers 25 denote the spool width (25mm I think), the letter B refers to the style of drag (in this case there is none)
      From memory an A5 model has a stainless steel back and no drag.

      G'day Max, they're a Snyderglass Crusoe Island CR4126 in low mount. There's a list of the other gear in the video description too.

    Hi Adam love the video mate, i just love to target big whiting Sept, till March did you dig your worms mate or buy them ?

      Thanks for the compliment! I bought crib island worms for that trip. I'll occasionally dig blood worms out of the soft mangrove mud but I'm the first to admit I've got lazy lately 🤣 Whiting were my first fish addiction, I'll never get tired of chasing the 40cm plus models.

    Hey Adam, can I ask where the yabby flats are? Just moved to the Southside and no idea on this side of town… or Gold Coast way. Cheers 🍻

    • @adamneeson
      @adamneeson  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi Andrew, I usually pump my yabbies out the front of Orana Esplanade, Victoria point. Keep in mind there's a green zone to the left hand side as you come down Point O'Halloran road so stick to the RHS. It's a huge area.
      If you're down the gold coast, most of the sandbanks in the Broadwater hold yabbies. The banks south of wavebreak island are full of them (only accessible by boat)
      I like to scope out new areas to fish at low tide. That way I can physically see the structure/sand banks and see what bait is around. If I run around I done have to wait for an entire tide change to go home either 🤣

      @@adamneeson thanks for that. We are at Waterford so usually fish the Logan river. Found what might be a yabby bank at cabbage tree. Seems a bit rocky underneath though. Lots of soldier crabs

      @@SargetheFlyFisher I've pumped a few yabbies along fisherman's gutter out the front of the Logan river. They were hard work there but I did get a few.

    Gday Adam….new to your channel and was wondering can you give me a bit of a run down of your boat and motor. I much prefer to watch Bread and Butter type fishing than others…..thanks

    • @adamneeson
      @adamneeson  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Sorry for the delayed response Mark, work has been getting in the way lately! Thanks for checking out my channel. Whiting fishing is how I started fishing and it's still my real passion. I've got the offshore bug but I'll never give up the bread and butter!
      The hull is a 1998 Clark Cutter 3.7m
      The outboard is a 1997 Yamaha 20hp two stroke motor. It goes like a rocket with the 20hp, topping out at 40km hr WOT (on a calm day)
      I bought it off my neighbor back in 2003. Great stable tinny for it's size but terrible in heavy chop and very wet. I love it though because it'll motor along in 300mm of water and I can drag it off sandbanks when I push the envelope too far.
      Over the years I've added all the electronics/lights, grab rails and a aluminum base for the timber floor. Welding in the aluminum structure under the floor really changed how the boat handled (for the better).
