      @@joshobrien7708 Thanks Josh! We bought the canvas version.(As opposed to the lighter fly material) I'm a big fan of canvas because it reduces the chance of dew forming on the inside. @@hamishbf8352 Hi Hamish, I'm not familiar with the Profish brand so I can't offer any opinions on the boat itself. Generally speaking though, a 5.5m plate boat is fine for offshore. I still have to pick my days in a 6m boat and a 5.5 wouldn't be much different. Before buying my boat I joined a few Facebook pages for specific boat brand owners. It gave me good insight into the common faults or positives for each boat brand. We don't generally fish far off Brisbane. Most of our fishing is between 30m and 90m deep. On rougher days we just stick closer in. I highly recommend taking any boat for a test drive before buying one. I hope that helps.

      Thanks Dota! The boat is a Bar crusher 615c. I absolutely love it because it's an all rounder, I can fish 400mm of water for whiting one day and then fish offshore in it the next. It's not perfect for everyone, but it's perfect for me. The bunks are a little short but will still sleep two people comfortably. I'm 6 foot and fit in on a bit of an angle. The best advice I can offer is check out a few different brands and models to see what suits your style of fishing the best. I target them land based in the broadwater over at labrador at night…believe it or not…theres so many lights on the walkways you can easy see your float…theres some snodgers…over there it comes down to calm/no wind nights, or sw wind. They like eddies, run up and top of the tide…often get bream as a side catch..using size 12 hooks which i have to buy on ebay, i order the rubber stoppers, and floats earlier in the year in readiness..all comes from vicco, where they love chasing gar…qlders not so much. My burley concoction consists of damp sand, crushed cheezels, half a box only ( other half for eating) and tuna oil…i need some weight because i have to peg it out, hence the sand. My theory is don’t over feed them…otherwise they won’t take the bait…you want to excite them, not feed them with your burley…fine dust particles of food only.

      Thanks Chris! Whiting was my first fishing passion and they will always be my favourite. I prefer the last three hours of the incoming tide and the first two hours of the runout. My favourite period is the last 2 to 1.5 hours of the incoming tide. Worms worked best that trip, they normally do. Occasionally the yabbies come out on top so I always like to have some onboard. If you're local to the gold coast Broadwater you're very lucky. The fish down there seem to grow much bigger. My theory is that the food down there is more abundant. It can't rain forever so the fresh will clear up eventually! I'll try and do a few more whiting vids, they seem pretty popular and I enjoy fishing for them.

    Hi Adam. Good sesh mate. My recommendation would be to go hit up the council chambers in the nerang for your whiting. Fished a lot but there's a reason for that, the whiting are there. Instead of putting your rod in the gunnel rod holder, try leaning it on the transom to hold a lower angle. Most of the time the hooks down the whithing's gullet so just flick em in unless its a stonker.

    • @adamneeson
      @adamneeson Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks Smithy! I used to fish the Nerang quite a bit, it holds some good fish. This trip was also an RBAFC club trip and our fishing boundaries are north of the seaway. I'll make an effort to try the Nerang again though 👍

    HI Adam , the Alvey reels you are using are they the 6' A5. is the a5, stand for shallow spool.?? Cheers Chris

    • @adamneeson
      @adamneeson Před 6 měsíci

      Hi Chris, my whiting reels are an Alvey 625B. It's the smallest capacity Alvey reel in the 6inch range. I prefer this because it's hard to fill an Alvey with 3kg/6lb line. They are a graphite backplate with plastic spool so they are nice and light. I'm not familiar with all the part numbers but the first number 6 denotes the spool diameter (6inch), the second numbers 25 denote the spool width (25mm I think), the letter B refers to the style of drag (in this case there is none) From memory an A5 model has a stainless steel back and no drag.
