The fact that merg came back just the day after uploading the first one shows how persistent and determined he is, what a chad, not that i expected nothing less from the cherry himself of course!
The hall: literally broken and not even recognizable anymore and a demon is using it as a playhouse and possessing sans and breaking reality itself.

The ending and progression of events was really unexpected, such a great game!
I have no idea what exactly we're fighting against by phase 4 , but I'm working under presumption that it isn't Gaster.
Alternative flow of events will include Sans giving up, but instead of going for one last measure to secure absolute victory he simply leaves the job for others to complete. This other being is Gaster of course, using the artificial soul as a vessel for Gaster's body to become physical, to make him exist again so he can rid the world of the human. But something goes horribly wrong, instead of resurrecting his only ally he ends up giving birth to an entity that is far worse than what he had to face.
Now cornered and overpowered, already at the end of his wits, bleeding out like a gutted pig and barely able to stand. Nearby a curios human, their world view shattered by what happened during their fight with Sans. Maniacal outrage and denial, hatred and spite, determination and perseverance.
Both are delusional, both aren't heroes but both are MONSTERS. Would they get over their thousand year long confrontation to face the ultimate threat to their existence? Or will they shred each other apart, leaving their world to be conquered by forces from within? Can they even win if they tried?..

@@narrativeless404 There is an argument to be made that he still gets one shoted against LVL20 Human, but he will perform drastically better against LVL1 Human when compared to Classic.
Gaster base power is irrelevant, cuz the creature inside the soul will be the one fighting, not him.

"Normal Undertale Chara" would:
a. Not care about the 'name' at all
b. Not exist in the timeline where the 'name' is "Frisk" and thus, the human cannot SAVE and RESET and Flowey keeps on having fun with it(killing you and bringing back whenever he desires)

Ok, so I think I know what’s happening. Gaster used the artificial SOUL as a conduit for himself, and the body he’s using is Sans’ horrifying, mutated form from using the prototype.

As far as I can tell, and this is just my personal theory but I think it fits pretty well, the thing that took over sans is not gaster, but an entirely new entity, born from the fragment of gasters soul. Gaster tried to intervene in faze 3 so that sans wouldn't need to use the soul, but was unable to, obviously. That would explain its connection to gaster, having similar blasters, the hands, purple theme, but he isn't the same entity, there dialouge doesn't match up. Also, I think sans did have the capability to harness the souls power, he just couldn't win in the mental struggle against the soul itself. It mentions how it's surprised and impressed that sans was able to contain its power, which probably means a weaker monsters body (literally every other monster but sans and maybe undyne) wouldn't have been able to contain such a power.

It's pretty obvious that the Soul is just a fragment of what Gaster is, It isn't Gaster, Nor is it one of his Creations, It's something else entirely, It's part Perseverance Soul, Part Gaster, It's a Fusion of Monster and Human, That legitimately ended up becoming a ACTUAL Monster, He's not Asgore nor is he Gaster, Merg, I really hope you understand that.
In a way you could say he's Gasters "Child" though, Since he's a byproduct of him using his own Souls energy as one of it's components to be created, But the power it uses is definitely not natural by any means, It's probably not even Magic.
And as for why his phase was so easy, It's because he just woke up, He doesn't know how to control his own power, So by all means his Phase is by far the easiest up to this point, Him breaking the Game apart is just a show at how strong he truly is though, He broke the Games basic Mechanics and jumbled them around SIMPLY BY EXISTING, That's why you're forced to use the Mouse to avoid stuff, And you ended up gaining 2 random abilities of Self Regen and Dashing.
He made it clear he knew how strong you were after-all, He was amazed how you were able to adapt to the "New" Game Mechanics.
Suffice it too say, This is one of THE best Fan-Games I've ever seen, Most if not ALL of them make stuff too "Edgy" or not make sense enough, But everything that happens here is very true to Undertale, Both in Difficulty as well as Lore-building, This Sans isn't TRULY an insane killer, He just understands that this is the only way to fight you at your own game, He never lost what truly made him "Him"
Although it IS true that Papyrus showing up behind him is a sign of his own guilt manifesting itself, In the same way you feel your own Sins crawl on your back during Sans's OG fight, It's extremely well designed stuff.
I'm really glad that Chara/You end up losing in the long run, Even if you ARE given a second chance in a potential Hard Mode run, I think this is the first Fan-Game I've seen mention just how important Frisk really is as a Character, Frisk is the one who saved the Underground after-all. "As well as the one who ended up killing off everyone in the Genocide Run, It was ALWAYS Frisk"

You seem confused here, so I'll give you my (most likely incorrect) understanding of it.
You are "playing as" Frisk, but you are still Merg (or Max). Chara is a being from the world you're using Frisk to interact with, and she is aware of the fact it's all a game, with you as the player. Chara is stuck to Frisk's determination, and eventually considers you a partner. Depending on the fangame, Chara either wants power, or wants something to entertain her. This usually means repeating genocide routes until the game glitches and you get a timeline like this fangame. Frisk is just a vessel with very little control over themselves. The name you choose at the start is assigned to Chara. I don't know why Chara never tries to get a glitched pacifist timeline in these games, but it's probably just because people like Sans.
I hope this helps. Someone please correct me if you see anything I got wrong.

This does make sense for sans to be in pain since Alphys kept talking about how it messed with them. Explains why Undyne melts in her death
