  • DISCLAIMER: This is NOT a TACTICS Video. Jason is ONLY showing tips on Foot-work; for Operators that already have mastered the basics of CQB. ****
    This week on Tactical Rifleman we get into a little Close Quarters Combat (CQC) tips and techniques. CQC is practiced over the course of all Special Forces careers and endless hours are spent honing these skills as it is sometimes considered the “bread and butter” of the trade. Operators work tirelessly to perfect this craft and breakdown each phase of an assault as to increase their performance from one kinetic operation to the next. In this video, former Navy SEAL and owner of Arion Risk LLC shows us a simple hack to optimize efficiency of movement into a space. Although it may seem like common sense, even the entry through a doorway is thought about and practiced. The way in which an operator initially enters a space is just as important as their action within. An operator has to be on balance through all phases of an entry in order to take a well-placed shot regardless of target position. A simple calculation of foot placement and entry procedures can be the difference between a well-aimed and balanced shot and a miss. The technique shown in this video is a testament to the detail with which Green Berets and SEALs practice their trade. So, listen up! This video will forever change the way that you enter a room and may you never be off balance again.

      Spec Ops works in a group, there is no way to survive their attack, no matter how many videos you watched.
      They act quickly and shoot "10" almost every time, and that is in full speed move.
      They have the mindset not to hide or escape until the enemy is still a danger.
      I don't think any instructional video will help any bad guy survive, 2 years of experience in training for battle shooting can't be compared to any hours of video watching :)

    Worked on a movie a few years ago called "Insight" in which we did exactly what's being described in this video (a corner fed room, opening to the left). We had a technical adviser that was in the 19th SF to help us LOOK like we knew what we were doing but I don't think he ever covered the specific footwork that I see in this video. It was basically all about first guy; second guy; third guy and which sector of the room each one of them is going to take. We were filming at a place called "Blue Cloud Ranch" and I remember getting a safety briefing on day two about the Mohave Green rattlesnakes - and I was thinking "that would have been good to know on day one". It was a lot of fun actually, I served in the US Army for eight years but never got to do MOUT training while I was in because I did communications (31-F).

    He brings up a significant point about balance and footwork when entering a room, however, equal credence should be emphasized on moving through the "fatal funnel" as well as individual vs team movement when entering and clearing a room. Though it is hard to tackle all important elements in a single video. Most concepts are taught and applied in layers since it can be overwhelming to learn too much at once.

    • @cate01a
      @cate01a Před 2 lety +2

      what if you're one man clearing a room of armed enemies, you re in this scenario where you have a corridor to an open room with threats, and you have nothing but your gun. What would be the best course of action? Slowly slowly peek out degree by degree, shooting the enemies that you see? Or perhaps quickly turning the corner standing, and hope you dont die? Or perhaps blind fire and try something else like exiting the building and shooting through the walls even?

    • @perchowski3021
      @perchowski3021 Před 2 lety +6

      @@cate01a This technique would be proper IMO for team clearing rooms but an individual should go slowly and expose as little as possible until the entire pie is sliced.
      If there are multiple enemies in the room you're trying to clear and you step into the room like in this technique as an individual, unless you surprise them you're gonna get smoked. You might get one but the other is gonna get you.
      This video is titled "how a Navy Seal clears...," so he's definitely not wrong, this just isn't the way an individual should clear a room.
      Take this with a grain of salt as I am not a professional, but from what I've learned and different methods I've tried throughout the years, the best way ive found as an individual is slowly slicing the pie, exposing as little of your body as possible until the entire pie is sliced.
      Project gecko has a great video on an individual clearing rooms I believe.
      With the project gecko technique as an individual in airsoft and paintball, I've had the most success. I haven't seen all of this channels videos but I wouldn't be surprised if he had an individual room clearing video that differed from this technique of how a seal clears rooms.

    • @mztd912
      @mztd912 Před 2 měsíci

      @@perchowski3021 you really think a seal is gonna show you their best techniques on youtube? This is just a very basic watered down version of how to be efficient going around a corner. That is it. It is by no means the ideal way to clear a room, but of course as a seal, they don't tell you that. They want their enemies to think this is the best way to clear a corner and clear a room. This is like day one stuff, Seals don't ever reveal their true tactics to anyone, that's why they are called "quiet professionals". Having said that, if you look closely, he's doing a lot of things that he doesn't talk about but are tell tale signs that he is an elite professional at his craft, his footwork, how he presents his weapon, how he breaks that corner, how he gets on target, his posture, his form, how he moves into the room, just the subtle things that he's trying not to make obvious, but it's hard for a seal to hide years of training and muscle memory from mastering the art of killing people.

    Always good to watch a tradesman apply his craft. Nice work, definitely a dangerous bunch to face, if an opponent is putting this much thought into their game then you better be sharp. Would be hard to counter a sweep and clear executed by these guys. Still, its fun to run thought experiments. I bet they do the same thing.

      if you want to be stealthy, with a corner on your left, you hold with your left hand so your gun is closer to the wall. lower profile it won't stick out as early. HOWEVER the trade off is if you're taking that same corner with the right hand you can lean to the right as you clear the pie and you have a better right angle corner advantage.

Gents, I want to answer SO MANY of these messed up comments, but we decided years ago that we would NOT discuss Tactics on Tactical Rifleman, only tips and techniques. If you want to learn CQB, please come take a class; but we are not going to do this over the open internet. Thanks for watching, TR.

      Kobaspire well you sir are in luck because I am here...His first rookie mistake was suggesting a working dog to clear the space. What you really need is a midget to start off clearing space. What people fail to realize is seeing a midget in person causes confusion and stress. When eye contact is made with a midget it causes them to go haywire thus causing chaos for the enemy. Given there small stature and shifty personalities enemies become paranoid of where they may be hiding and tend to run out of the room making for easy capture .

      "We are not going to do this over the open internet" says the guy name dropping Navy Seals in every breath he can. I dont disagree with the tactics here, these people know their stuff, although i would take a corner fed room a lot slower and pie the corner my self after frags and or bangers(he partially mentioned this) but im so tired of youtube operators claiming their navy seal special forces room clearing commandos. Well described and presented. In actuality you follow the same technique as we do at JSOC/ODA. I’ve also noticed you collapse the weapon under your arm before clearing the corner and present it to fire, which is also the identical technique to what they teach at Army SF. You didn’t talk about this or your half Weaver position, but for the trained eye you’re A Class.

    • @mztd912
      @mztd912 Před 2 měsíci

      @@fizzmoe9846 not really. It's not just that, he's doing several things at once here. But he doesn't explain it because seals are quiet about their tactics. But in CQC situations with a long gun, you always want to keep the gun pointed towards your target at all times, and you want to keep it close to you at all times, it not only helps in concealment, but it also keeps your enemy from knocking it down if they were standing around the corner, it's real easy to knock it out of your hands or knock the barrel off target when you see him and try to fire. You always want to "push" the gun towards the direction you are going at all times. Notice in his live demonstration when he breaks that corner his gun barrel never drops, it is always pointed forward and towards where the enemy might be standing. You always want to have your gun pointed in the direction you anticipate the enemy to be at all times. If you drop your barrel down as you come around the corner, it takes much too long to bring it up and get on target. But if you "push" it forward, you can shoot it the moment the barrel breaks the corner and someone is standing right there. You want that barrel to break the corner at the same time as your eyes/body so you can get on target immediately in case someone is waiting alongside that wall.

When facing off that corner you make sure your chest armor is forward in case you take rounds from the enemy. Not all of you is protected but most of your chest is covered from taking frontal hits instead of leaving gaps on your side armor doesn't protect its side gaps. Side sapi plates if you whereing all your ballistic plates many don't still don't cover very high up. Your shooting skill. Speed violence of action all contribute but you still want your armor forward to actually work saving you from incoming rounds.
