Leverage you Tech experience and offer other recommendations for compatible parts or straight up pre-selected combinations of parts that work well together for different builds. Putting together parts for fresh builds is always such an annoying process to have to remember to put everything in my cart.
Also offer targeted upgrade packages of common part replacements for major manufacturers different series of replicas. A Cyma AK upgrade package, a G&G m4 upgrade package, etc. If you can become a prommy dealer that opens up Krytac upgrade parts. A compatibility list based upon your experience for certain parts that might only fit well in certain gearboxes or different replicas could also be a great feature to add value to your site.
You do need to consider that, while putting videos for each part leans heavily to your strengths as a content creator, once that content (or any information/experience you have and decide to share) is on the internet any of your competitors can choose to “steal” that information and use it for themselves. Make sure that whatever format you provide to your customers is easy for them to find and understand, while also being difficult for you competitors to replicate or integrate to their own offerings.
Finding products that are airsoft related but not common at retailers can be a huge win. Easy example is the 3:1 heat shrink clandestine sells. I’ve made orders from there specifically to get that for other hobby use and picked up some other parts I was considering at the time just because I was on the site. Turned a less than $10 order to a $60+ order just because they have a useful product I haven’t found elsewhere for as good a price.
Stay simple and focused too start. Likelihood that it fails is high so keep that in mind. Inventory is difficult still right now and out of stock products can really hurt profitability.
Edit: it seems to me like the knowledge sharing and content creation is a big part of the driving force behind this. Do you have any interest in partnering with and already established retailer on the content creation side only to help them add value to their (already well established) retail sites? Stating there and then possibly influencing the retailer to add “airsoft tech recommended/approved” products would allow you to accomplish a similar goal with substantially less risk. Your best chance say success lies in the most effective way for you to leverage the value you have now, which is an audience and strong branding so make sure to try to retain those in whatever effort you do pursue.

Love the idea. It's exactly what is needed. I'm currently on my 4 or 5th start up (one being an airsoft store). Now what could kill you is not running the back end of the business properly. It's what plagues the airsoft market is people with passion and not experience in business. Happy to talk the business side sometime if your interested.

I've never seen a website where you can have a set of wishlists for separate reasons. Like if you wanted to put some parts for a desired build on one list and then parts to another on a separate list. That way you can have a idea of what parts you need and want for each build, have them saved to easily look at quickly and have a complete idea of what parts are available on said site for each build you have planned.

I think this is a great idea!
One of the greatest issues I've observed as a beginner tech is that it's often difficult to figure out how each part interacts with another.
I think an amazing educational tool to have would be 3d animations of different parts/components to be able to visualise better some things like AOE, compression ratios, gear ratios, stroke length, how SSG, DSG and TSG work, nozzle lengths, etc... It's something that I think would be relatively easy to do for anyone with a 3d scanner and an animation program.
That would help to understand and visualize what it is a beginner tech wants to do with each part.

    Here's my $.02 lol
RealDealAirsoft has a great parts store...but hardly any selection compared to other stores.
This is a VERY good thing! ALL his parts are primo quality and if you buy something from him, it comes with personalized instructions. He also has videos reviewing, installing, and using all those parts.
Your videos have helped me sooo much, but I always buy from RealDeal because of the customer service and FIRE parts. The few times I have had problems, he walked me through it until we figured out the problem. He even sent free merch and parts when COVID caused shipping delays. He's the RealDeal.
I love your idea, and I'm sure it will be profitable. You have a good following and none of the toxicity that the social media of this sport promotes. Best of luck to you!

I believe the education part referring to each part is where the value is. Most major retailers post only the part and a brief description of the part. In the comments section is always a list of people asking to specific information about the part that the retailer hardly ever responds to. I believe that’s because the person running that portion doesn’t even know. It’s a good idea and I would love to support your business if it comes to fruition.

Great idea! Maybe you could even have some sort of "upgrade kits" that would contain everything one would need to build for example a "high speed" (not talking crazy high speeds but maybe 30-40rps ssg) airsoft gun. Then you wouldn't have to do as much research to just get started with modding and along the line you can learn more if you want to go more extreme for example. Just an idea, not sure how it would actually work out but maybe worth looking into 😅

Love the idea, would defenetly buy if shipping is available to the EU. Would like to see a wizard type page where you can select your criteria for a specific build and get combinations of parts that would work to fulfil those requirements. Maybe even accompanied with actual data (from a chrono, db meter, amp meter). That would be something unique.

As a Noob E myself, I have had to try and navigate through hours of CZcams videos to try and find out the information I desire for my new Airsoft purchases.
I applaud your desire to make something more accessible to Noob B's and Veterans alike. I think it will be a daunting task to make videos about every product and make them meaningful for all Airsoft goals. I say this because, I don't know, what I don't know. What is best for someone else, may not be my best or fit my goals.

No cap, this is the store i have been asking for. As a newbie tech, its a pain in ass to search for consistent spec sheets specially for parts coming out of china, HK, or taiwan. Most of the times, the manufacturer themselves dont provide enough information of the product and the stores that sells them does not even test the parts to get a rough idea of the specs. Which led newbie techs such as myself to BUY and experiment different parts. And most of the time, newbie techs buy completely incompatible parts. Although its part of learning process to learn that certain parts are incompatible with the other, but its just a damn money dump.
I like this concept of a store that educates its buyers from a viewpoint of a veteran tech. It provides much more information, including those which are not contained in the spec sheet.

  • @LegacyAirTech
    @LegacyAirTech Před 2 lety +1

Something to keep in mind is that you are only going to get positive responses to this. You're essentially saying "hey guys how would you like whats already on the market PLUS free personalized advice for every part".
From the customers' perspective there is literally no downside so this will be a positive feedback loop. Make sure, on the business side, you can still compete with established stores or use your brand + these educational videos to advertize your store.
It wouldnt hurt to do something niche in terms of the products you're selling as well. For example, lets say you have a "bundle" for each group of routine upgrades or "tiers" you would do to a customer gun. The videos can be educational and reference these bundles that only your store has driving traffic to your store.
Just thinking out loud here. Glad you're still in the space and enjoying it. I wish you the best of luck Ryan and if there's anything I can help with let me know.

Combining an education/information content to help newbies understand what part or accessories can work with different guns is a great idea and would definitely help me better understand what parts or accessories are compatible with different airsoft rifles and pistols. imo Would allow to save money for newbies to not buy unnecessary parts or products to only blow $Money on parts, accessories etc. Which may discourage them to not play airsoft. You’ve got great ideas and I wish for success in your endeavor. I’ll definitely become a loyal patron.

I think as a tech you know what is good and what is not good and if you just have everything in your shop without indeed being able to buy everything from one shops which is good, instead of just paying 6 times shipping. but all the information you can provide on what you sell is of course really great! But everyone also just has their own thing what they like or not and EU and US are of course different.

This idea would be great man! I really like the angle of being educational with the upgrade parts, as we all know when getting into teching or getting together a build for desired results can be bit of a task or headache.
Videos on every part will set you apart from others i think! A video showing the physical shape of the part for those people wanting to do custom builds in the unconventional way and trying to figure out if itll work based on pictures on online can be a huge hassle.
Showing compatibility of parts on the videos and honest reviews about them is a huge help given most retailers are biased to promoting products.
Id be all for buying parts from one retailer than 6 for all my parts needed haha
Either way, i love the idea and see much potential for it!
If prices are competitive to brill and clandestine, you have my support 100%!

I think it would be a great idea. I would definitely like to see more information on parts that may not always be available on other parts websites (For example nozzle lengths). Other things I would like to see is compatibility charts for parts with certain guns and with other parts as well (For example what gearboxes fit correctly in what frames or what barrel/bucking/hop up combo work together without being too tight or what optical mosfets fit in to what gearboxes). Possibly a chart on what parts are proprietary to what guns or parts. Being able to get parts that may not be readily available or ones that are not usually sold separately would be nice. Tutorial videos are always welcomed. Whether or not it is on the installation of a product or the modification of parts. Also videos on what works well and what doesn't or what you may want to get a desired outcome. Tools for installation, organization, and/or modification would be great to sell as well. I am always looking for new information on parts, installation videos, tutorial videos, and anything else tech related because it is what I enjoy doing. As a tech myself, I learned everything through watching online videos (A lot from you), reading information from online forums, spending my own money for parts, testing what I can, and spending so much time on it that it eventually got me a job because of it. There is always more to learn and I would definitely love to see more people get into tech work.

Great idea. Honestly think you could just jump into the deep end with it. Since you already have the marketing with your youtube page. That gives a healthy bit of information on a lot of the products you will be carrying. However with making a video for every item you will carry is great. It will be uber time consuming. I would recommend having a partner in the business that can help with that aspect and hopefully a couple other things. With either recording or editing. That way you aren't doing like five things at once. With a day job, normal youtube stuff, running a website, shipping orders, customer service, recording video's for site, and ordering product. Being able to share the load at the beginning is crucial and lets you settle into a routine. But I do think this will be a profitable adventure for you. Hope to see it come to fruition.

I love this idea, I'd definitely buy parts from it because I know it's coming from a good dealer. A good idea might be you offering a pre-built gearbox plan where they mention their rough specifications for what they want and then you could guide them to what to buy, and maybe offer a building service for a bit more money. One thing I'd also like to mention is that you said you want a big variety of parts in the store, but I think, IMHO, that you should only stock good quality parts that are well known and trusted, as in nothing angel customs quality.

I find myself needing to order parts from Taiwangun and sixmm all the time. I have MP5Ks and MP5s that CYMA makes mlok rails, buffer tube adapters, flat triggers, mid caps, and so on. Cant get them in the US and shipping makes it expensive. Wish there was a US based store that had CYMA and TM stock parts.

The idea sound fantastic, but it’s seams pretty hard to realize. I would rather made a part picker or builder where for example you select the rof the fps the trigger build type (full auto or semi response) the budget and it’s provide you with the parts that you need to achieve the result. Or would rather sell the gearbox upgrades kit for what you desire. I think also that in general a noob tech like me would rather try but itself different thinks to discover by themselves what works better for him. That because I love your videos but sometime their in contrast with other tech video that I love and maybe you both are right so the true is in the middle.

Hello there, I have a question for you. I've built a high speed ssg using the LT Proline gearbox shell and MOSFET that came with it. I've tried 13:1 and 12:1 gears with a matrix Sonic 5000 HS motor and have blown two different full rack pistons after working great with one magazine. After a second mag was used, the pistons blows. The rack tears out of the piston. Do you think this matrix motor is too fast for the build? Do they make a stronger piston I can use that won't blow out? These pistons are full metal rack but they're stock out of other guns I've taken apart. The motor is extremely fast cause I was getting around 35 rps with that motor, maybe a little more. Any advice you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks my friend

Yes, I think that your idea fills a hole that is lacking in the industry. It seems that there is little, to no, issue in finding a product that someone would be looking for. If one site doesn’t have it, there are many others that will. But what I find that is missing is information. What parts are best with which guns for “x” scenario, etc, etc.
I’m new to airsoft and I have found it difficult gaining information in products and comparative difference within them.
Now I have a question, if you don’t mind. Do you have any recommendations for a book, or some other, educational materials in tech-ing? Have you thought about writing one? There is also a lack for that.
I appreciate the education that you provide and look forward to future ones.

I am very interested but also daunted by the idea of the project. I would love to see it happen, but I have some conserns if I were to do it myself. Hope my reflections are useful to you. Also I haven't read slot of the other comments so I hope I don't repeat to much of what others might have said.
Video for every single part to be sold: how long should the video be? How much information about the product should be the minimum requirements for agreeing that it is a meningful video for the consumer, whist still not 'draining' all your time (when thinking of quantity of potential videos that could be done held up against quality, but also considering personal burnout).
An addition of info to the be added to the products page that could be nice is - extended information of product measurements like: nozzle exact length, diameter of gears, port location measured from front to first cut of the port and so on, so on.

Would you ship to Canada? How about ‘upgrade packs’ I.e not just a single updgrade item, but various parts to achieve certain targets? Also could have them for different budgets

If I can get everything I need from one store, it's actually easy/fun to shop on the website, other relative components are listed in suggestion appropriately, and I get a descriptive video as needed.... Sign me up.
It will be tough to pull off, no doubt, but you could be just the man for the job... 🤔
I must agree, not a single online store truly serves my needs, much less my desires.

You are asking for criticism, so here goes my pessimistic ass.
I am afraid of your role as both the seller and the "authority telling people what to buy" - I do believe it is not your intention to mislead or manipulate less knowledgeable people for profit, however, what happens if at some point your honest education would get in the way of your business? (That is a rhethorical question, you don't have to specifically answer (: )
Also the plan to be a "one stop shop" for all of our airsoft parts needs is a little ambitious.
I really like the idea of selling parts and other items that aren't exactly related to airsoft on their own - e.g. those fancy tappet plate springs you always talk about.
Conclusion: I like the idea, just afraid of the execution (like I am not sure it even can be done right.)
