- 'No Stilettos' was a short-lived BBC music series made by BBC Scotland in Glasgow, and presented by Eddi Reader. The programme was broadcast in 1993 on BBC2 in the UK and was recorded in the Cottier Theatre, a converted church in Glasgow's west-end.

My friend and I loved this performance so much. We went to see Pulp at Keele uni, then came back to my house and watched this on video. With a plate of beans on toast. One of the best moments of my life.
this was such a sweet comment
Heinz?
Pulp had the most original arrangements. More bands should be experimental with their instruments like this, the effect is amazing.
What an amazing version of an often overlooked great song! I wish I had the entire set, the band seems very tight here.
How is this not like the most legendary song ever? They were beyond a great band
I love when it's the simple sounding things that mean the most and are most memorable. Also love this song.
Such a professional performance. Frozen in time. Love it.
love pulp and always will.u make my day brighter just listening to your songs xx
Jarvis always gets it right first time
I just want to say that in the song pink glove, the drum beat reminded me of Morris from Joy Division
I wish I'd been there. Took me until "Comon People", then i jumped aboard the hype train! What a great, counter cultural band they were x
literally the greatest band of all time
The best of the best!
PULP!!
Amazing 👍👍👍
Lyrics (live version on No Stilettos, 1993)
You better watch what you're wearing
If you want him to come round and see you tonight
Uh uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh
But he doesn't care what it looks like
Just as long it's pink and it's tight
It's what he likes
Uh uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh, uh uh uh
Oooh
So what should you do
Should you stop being you
Just to be how he wants you?
Oooh
Go and visit your mum
And tell me that you'll come
And meet me in the afternoon
Oooh
He's got your heart
You got his soul
You might as well know
So what?
I know you're never gonna be with me
But do you understand now that maybe
You got it right first time?
I realise that you'll never leave him
But every now and then in the evening
You'd get it right first time
I know you think I gotta be joking
But if you touch him again then I'm going
You got it right first time
Get it right first time
Now you've done it once and he wants you
To wear your pink glove all the time
Uh uh uh uh, uh uh uh uh, uh uh uh
Now he says you're a refined looking woman
So you do it again and again
Do it all again
So he can, so he can take it off here
Oooh
So what should you do
Should you stop being you
Just to be how he wants you?
Oooh
Go and visit your mum
And tell me that you'll come
And meet me in the afternoon
Oooh
He's got your heart
You got his soul
Oh God, you might as well know!
So what?
I know you're never gonna be with me
Until you understand now that maybe
You got it right first time
I realise that you'll never leave him
But every now and then in the evening
You got it right first time
I know you think I gotta be joking
But if you touch him again then I'm going
You got it right first time
Get it right first time
Oh
Oh oh
You'll always be together
'Cause he gets you up in leather
And he knows your friend called Heather
But he never kissed her leather
So you know what to wear at the end of the day
And I'd laugh if I viewed that I'm out of the way
Yeah it's too long ago, shouldn't care anymore
But I wanted to know, is it as good as before?
Yeah it's hard to believe that you go for that stuff, all those
Baby-doll nighties with synthetic stuff
Yeah it looks pretty good, yeah it fits you okay, yeah
Wear your pink glove, babe
You put it on the wrong way!
So
I know you're never gonna be with me
Until you understand now that maybe
You got it right first time
I realise that you'll never leave him
But every now and then in the evening
You could get it right first time
I know you think I gotta be joking
But if you touch him again then I'm going
You got it right first time, yeah
Oh, I understand that you'll never leave him
But every now and then in the evening
You'll got it right first time
Oh, I know that you're not gonna be with me
Ooh ooh ooh, oh, but d'you see yet?
You got it right first time
Get it right first time
Fucking mind blowing... did this church ever feature in some parts of Scotland's incredibly interesting historical events?
@Listen2Gene
I have '59 Lyndhurst Grove' from the same show, not sure if they did 'His 'N' Hers' or not.
FANTASTIC. . . .did they do His N' Hers at this show??
Thx so much for these. I'm confused though - I'd have sworn this was the show where Jarvis walked into the audience, blowing my mind even further...just frighteningly brilliant before that guy 'produced' the album & made them do She's a lady without the violin and sanitised them to fit the charts or whatever.........anyone know what the other show on BBC2 was?
i personally prefer she's a lady without the violin, the studio version is so much better than the live one
You're thinking of His N Hers live. He walks to the crowd and asks what they fear.
Generally I agree His N Hers is over-produced and too much reverb going on. But I do think She's a Lady on there sounds ace.
Sheff A Dude I hate to self promote but if you think this you might like my stripper back cover of it on YT :)
