*RARE* - Burrow Road / Lauder's Lane LC breaks down !

- Another very unusual video of a level crossing on the Howth Branch called Lauder's Lane / Burrow Road acting up. This was very strange for me because I got a full video of Baldoyle Road LC breaking down as well.
The line was closed due to engineering works from Saturday - Monday in either October or November of 2013 im not quite sure. The LC was broken for at least 4 hours when I was there from 7:45am - 11:00am. It could have been a test but they wouldn't leave the alarm on for such a long time.
Well I let you guys decide, was it a test or did it break down. I think it broke down. - Auta a dopravní prostředky

01:25 RIP Headphone users. Sutton and Lauder's Lane go down at the Same time. The Signal before Lauder's Lane is a Distant Signal which goes green when the Signal for Claremont Rd Level Crossing goes Green I think

I have a question, so if the level crossing barriers fail to lower as a train approaches does the train crew get out and "flag the crossing like they do here in the USA? Here in the US, if a crossing malfunctions, the train conductor has to get out, drop 2 flairs for each direction of traffic, then "walk" or "flag" the train through the crossing.
As far as I'm aware, no. As seen in his baldoyle road video, the train just kind of gets stuck at the red signal until it gets "fixed", If it takes too long, the branch services will be cancelled
The Signaler can also ask a “crossing attendant” to go to the level Crossing and stop traffic, similar to the US, i think
If the Barrier fails to lower after some time still, the train driver sometimes gets out of the train and phones the signaller to alert whats happening.
Did you call in Irish Rail to inform the problem or did Irish Rail find out then?
Sorry for stating the obvious - Instead of filming a broken level crossing for a long time pointing your camera at the sirens fixed to the back of the signs (as if were are all stupid and need to be shown what they look like etc- Most people would have picked up the phone at the side which puts you through to a signaller and tell them ??

Sam Edward Barsoum Nuisance to people nearby, not to mention motorists who might actually want to cross here, not knowing the line is closed. Besides it is illegal to cross a red light, line open or not. So no cars should have crossed here for 4 hours. I'd have phoned the signalman.

hmm I think the barriers are the cause as there upright so the alarm will go off and not shut the hell up thill there down and I thaught after a while the alarms would cut out or silence

Newsham level crossing had that simular sort of a fault what happened was the lights came on for no parent reason and no trains where on the line it could of been a whole lot worse if the barriers where down but luckily they didn't or you would be talking a massive tailback

Thanks Matthew, and you would be correct there, Sutton crossing goes down at the exact same times as Lauder's Lane does.
Ah when I heard the siren I was thinking had Sutton failed too.

It was fixed on the day it broke down, a staff member from Irish Rail came to have a look at it when the alarm stopped.

Well yeah, I mean its a very uncommon sight. It would be the exact same in England. You hardly see any crossings breaking down over there.
