    Oook. First of all, people looking for VPN are usually the ones looking for privacy.
    Since it was completely omitted here, I'll provide some comments:
    1)If something is "free", you are the product. Or, your browsing/searching/shopping habits are the product.
    2)The ISP might not see your traffic flowing trough the VPN,sure,but the VPN provider sees all. They can either keep logs of your actions, or not (This parameter is important AF, and there's nothing even close to it in this video). In other words: If they keep your logs,they can sell your profile, or give you to authorities on silver platter.
    3)If you pay for service, the provider has your PIIs for billing purposes. There goes your anonymity.
    VPN provider might easily become the weakest link in your disguise, so if you really need to use one,choose the one that's rock-solid and stays away from your activities.

      what would you recommend since you know what your doing ?

    • @drTERRRORRR
      @drTERRRORRR Před rokem +1

      @@pglt2459 It's all about security/privacy vs ease of use. It's an endless struggle. The key question is what level of privacy you actually need? Do you just want the agencies to fuck off because your browsing is your business, or do you want to go "full Snowden" ? There are many books about how to become almost completely anonymous,but in short:
      1) Open Access Point + some free VPN (with phony credentials) + MAC spoofing. You obviously need some stable open AP in your range (Signal amplification might be needed,so decent net card and antennas come in to the game).
      2) Proxy chains. You're jumping trough series of proxy servers to obfuscate your actual IP while using your "regular" connection. Obvious issue is the performance and reliability of the proxy servers (again: you can use the paid ones, but you have to provide your credentials while paying the bill).Also, the first hop knows your actual IP and you can't control what each proxy does with logs.
      3) Onion routing, aka Tor. Look it up. It's ALMOST perfect. Law enforcement or "threat actors" ("malicious/blackhat hackers") can create so called "honey pots" to track you. Google around for details.
      4) Bum Gateway ;) Get some random unrelated person to buy and register the SIM card for you and "refill" your new gareway with prepaid cards bought with cash. Buy new telephone or 4G modem with cash. You are ridiculously easy to find from mobile ISP's perspective, so use this in combination with other methods.
      5) Separation !!! Get separate hardware for secured connections to Internet. Never log-in or register to do your regular stuff using "your ultra secret spy setup".

    Hello, first of all, thank you very much for your tutorial. I am a friend from China. After my test, I found that only Proton vpn and Opera VPN can be used. Proton is very easy to use, and Private is also very good, but it often cannot be used. Other VPNs you introduced cannot be used, such as psiphon, which cannot bypass GFW's algorithm review. The network firewall of our country is continuously improved and strengthened. For the sake of national security, this is necessary. Of course, it will also bring some troubles to those who want to study or work abroad.
    Finally thanks again! !

    Thanks Cookie Monster. 😁 I believe you omitted how many devices one can connect to from each VPN service. I've been using ProtonVPN since 2018. I'm an expat, from the States living in México, and use the VPN so I may hear/watch ads in my native language. - Pluto TV & Plex requires to disable ad blockers.
    ProtonVPN provides unlimited data but only allows one device per connection; I have five devices, therefore I had to create five accounts. If I have anything bad to say about the service is: I'm not sure why it auto-connects to Netherlands (sometimes Japan) when it's suppose to connect to the US. I usually don't notice the connection until I log onto CZcams and see the RU (Russia) as my location. Don't mind having to manually reset the CZcams location, but It'd be nice to know why.

      Proton used to be good, but it does not work in Russia any longer. My family is Russia/American, so first hand, we have had to put up with a great deal of illegal shit mostly from my "own" American government, and I use "my own, or our own" very loosely, since the present regime and the obama regime happened and took our country over. Thus additionally since these illegal sanctions have been in place, we are very aware that sanctions only hurt real people, though they actually have benefited the economy and country of the Russian Federation and the ultra rich elite globalists of the world on the other hand. Opera is a Commie company and I would bet a large amount of money that a Trojan is hidden away in there collecting all your date. If you trust communist China with all your data, then keep using Opera.

    • @vpnranksofficial
      @vpnranksofficial Před 3 měsíci +1

      Using a VPN can sometimes help change your NAT type, especially if your university has strict NAT settings. However, free VPNs might not reliably achieve this due to limited server options and bandwidth. For better results, consider a premium VPN with more robust features.

    Free vpn = sell your data. Always avoid free vpns if you care about security.

    • @KevinStratvert
      @KevinStratvert  Před 2 lety +8

      Most of the services reviewed have no log policies and seem to commit to protecting your privacy. If they were caught selling data, I think it would represent huge reputational risk for them and would probably wipe them out. In terms of data privacy and protection, I'm most confident in the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th options. My confidence in Opera is a little lower since it's owned by Chinese investors. With Privado, it's still a very young company without as much of a track record or reputation at risk.

    I'm thinking: Maybe there is a reason companies like Opera are offering "free" VPN. If countries in the future are forcing VPN providers to log data anyway then our data is no longer "private". Was it ever truly private to begin with? When people are using VPN their data gets stored on those serves. If you control that server you have all the data of those users. Data is money, data is information. So I would assume that companies would start advertising their "services" to the customers to gain access to that data, which would almost defy the purpose of VPN.
