Hi. I realize this is a bit of an older video but I wanted to thank you for sharing it. Finally! 🎉 I’ve searched for a tutorial on how to cut my wigs- I mean really cut them- from prior to getting my scissors out to placing them back on to wear out and you nailed it. I purposely purchase longer wigs so I can trim or cut them as the ends begin to frazzle in order to extend their lifespan but I’m not a professional stylist - I’m barely past the basics. Your knowledge, advice and suggestions have been a godsend to me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Hi Beth, you're very welcome! I'm so happy to hear that you found my video helpful!😊 I think buying longer wigs that you can trim to extend the lifespan is a great idea!👏💖
Same here. I’m just beginning the journey, so it’s going to be a very helpful video when I reach that point.
Prior to losing so much hair, I had extremely long hair that I trimmed myself. It was only slightly tricky in the sense that I always tried to avoid the straight blunt cut that most hairdressers use across the back when dealing with long hair.
But nothing as challenging compared to what I imagined trimming a wig might be! This will help a LOT.
I had to first cut most of my length off to make dealing with rapidly thinning hair a bit easier (😢) and now I begin the learning about and buying wigs journey.
I’m starting with extremely cheap toppers and only one wig (also extremely cheap) so far. Wish me luck! 🍀 🤞😄 I’ll need it!
@@Beezer.D.B. I'm so sorry to hear about your rapidly thinning hair. It's hard. But alternative hair definitely helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any questions. I wore toppers for 10 years. Unfortunately, the way I wore them (mostly in a ponytail) caused traction alopecia. Here's a link to a video where I discuss that - czcams.com/video/ihf7mRa0tSo/video.html. Wishing you the very best of luck on your journey!🤗💖
@@micheleswigreviews - Thanks Michele! That’s exactly what I’ve been doing too (wearing the topper in a ponytail), so you saved me already! 🤭
@@Beezer.D.B. You're very welcome!💖
“I’ve trimmed this several times, and it’s _still_ too short!” 😂
I don’t know where that line/quote originally comes from, but my dad use to use it (in reference to blankets, etc) to make us kids laugh.
🤣 Love that quote! Thanks for sharing it!💖
After cutting my first wig I am rewatching & learning HOW TO DO more styles! 💞🔆💞
Yay!!👏 Happy styling!💖

This was awesome. I really needed to see this. I'm somewhat new with wigs & toppers & have a beautiful hand tied wig that I cannot return .. but it has issues & I find this video very useful. Thank you for taking the time to do this!!
I'm so sorry for my delay in responding - I never received a notification of your comment! I'm so glad you found my video helpful.😀 You are very welcome, thanks for watching!💖
This is extremely helpful. Thank you for showing the different types of hairstyles. I am totally into doing whatever I can to prolong the wearability, and fix the wig so I’m comfortable wearing it. Thank you!
Hi Debbie! I'm so glad you found it useful!😀 I agree completely, I like to take matters into my own hands and customize my wigs to my liking!💖
Thanks for your he demonstrations
I need to trim my Cameron Lite. Your video couldn’t have come at a better time! Yay! I trimmed my Julianne Lite! Thanks!

Hi Michelle, Appreciate you sharing all your tips and tricks. This is a great tutorial. I have steamed and cut in bangs but haven’t trimmed the bottom of a sleek style nor a wavy style, so I found your video very helpful. Thanks again for all your time ❤
You are very welcome, Pauline!😊 I'm so glad to hear that you found my tutorial helpful! Hope you have a great weekend!💖
Excellent job! Easy to follow instructions. Thank you so much
You're very welcome!😊 Thanks for watching!💖

This was very helpful Michelle. I will try now to do the wig I have. Thanks again, Julie
Hi Julie! I'm so glad it was helpful! Good luck - I hope you like how it turns out!😀💖
I'm so glad to find your videos, Michelle. I have a wig that is so thick that I need to thin, bought a cheap practice wig and your videos are the most helpful on thinning and cutting. I keep rewatching them as I'm a little nervous to start. This takes lots of study! Your knowledge is easy to follow. Thanks again Joan
Thanks so much, Joan!😀 I'm so glad you are here and that you find my videos helpful. There is a lot to learn about wigs but it can also be a lot of fun. Good luck, I hope you love the results!💖
Michelle thank you thank you for these video tutorials!!! I just cut & trimmed my first wig! 🎉I had you on video to give me courage and it turned out BEAUTIFULLY!!!! THANK YOU so much! Whew! What fun🎉
Well done! Woohoo!!🙌 I'm so glad to hear that, Ann! It's wonderful being able to make just a few small changes to a wig to make it perfect, isn't it!?! Congratulations and enjoy!🥳💖
Michelle….Thank you so much for doing this video! It was so helpful! With the cost of wigs these days, it’s so nice to be able to learn how to freshen up the style with so little effort. Your wigs turned out really great and kept their shape so nicely. I’m excited to try this now on 2 wigs whose ends look horrible. Thanks again! 😊
You are so welcome, Donna!😀 I'm glad you liked my video! Good luck with your 2 wigs - I bet they will turn out great and hopefully you can wear them longer! Thanks & have a great weekend!❤
Hi Michelle, thank you very much that was so helpful 🙏

Hello Michelle i am reviewing this amazing wig trimming tutorial cause again i am trimming a wig today 🤗
Hi Ann, I'm so glad to hear that my video is continuing to be helpful to you!😊 Hope you love the results!💖
Hi Michele, Great video. I have trimmed a couple of my straight pieces but haven’t touched the wavy ones. I’m all in when it comes to extending the life of our wigs. Thanks again very helpful💕

I’m gonna try this! I just bought RW Down time and I want to make it a little bit shorter 😊
Good luck - Down Time is a very long style!👍💖
I put a silicone wig grip on my wig head and that secures the wig without pins.
Great idea, thanks for sharing!👍😀💖
I just got my first synthetic wig today and I feel like such a newbie trying to figure things out. I need to cut the length and thin it out a bit. It's a beautiful color though.
Hi Michelle, congrats on getting your first synthetic wig!🥳 I remember being where you are now. There is a learning curve when it comes to wearing synthetic wigs, but I'm sure you will figure it all out quickly. When you are new to wearing wigs, they can feel like a lot of hair/fiber, especially if you are used to fine and thin bio hair. I recommend giving it a bit of time and wearing your wig at home until you feel more comfortable. Then, if you are sure that you want to thin your wig, here's a link to my video showing how I like to do that - czcams.com/video/l-GjnVy4Qds/video.html. Good luck!💖
This is great!! Do you also have a video on cutting layers in wigs???
Thanks Patti!😊 I have never cut layers into a wig and have no training as a stylist, so I don't feel qualified to create a video on this topic. Thanks nevertheless for the vote of confidence!💖
Thank you so much for your videos! They are always very informative and down-to-earth. What wig stand do you use with your GEX block head and where was it purchased? Thank you!
You're very welcome, thanks for watching!😊 I use the HYOUJIN Wig Head Stand Tripod from Amazon. Here's a link - www.amazon.com/gp/product/B011NW72UO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1.💖

Hello! Your info is wonderful. What wig are you wearing for this video?
Thanks so much, Sally! The first wig I'm wearing in the video is Miranda Lite by Jon Renau in Shaded Peach.💖
Wow Michelle, another very helpful video! I have not been wearing any wigs or toppers that I purchased a couple years ago because they need to be customized. Do you have any videos on trimming long sides to make them more face framing? I have HM Brooklyn that the sides are so long they drag down my facial appearance. If not, any suggestions? Also which tripod do you have, one from Amazon? Thanks so much!
Thanks so much Rebecca!😀 I love hearing that my videos are helpful. I do not have any videos on trimming the sides to make them face framing. That is just a bit beyond my current skill set. I have never used this technique, but here is a video that might help - czcams.com/video/hL1bbJFSfB0/video.html. I use the HYOUJIN Wig Tripod Stand from Amazon. Hope this helps!💖
Interesting technique with ModernSalon. I think I'm not coordinated enough to try that😬 I now see there are some other tutorials like one by 408 Beauty by Greta. I guess what I am really going for is a side swept bang on a mono part. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and go to a salon, but thanks for the tripod suggestion!
I had the same experience as you with the first topic
Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that! That was definitely not a happy moment for me but I did learn something!👍💖
Me, too
Such good information as I am always needing to trim my longer wigs. I have to ask one question. Your wigs look so natural on you. What do you say to someone if they compliment you on your hair? Do you just say thank you or do you reveal that you're wearing a wig? I can't imagine anyone would be able to tell you're wearing a wig.
Hi Mary! I'm so glad to hear that you found my video helpful!😊 When someone compliments my hair, I typically spill the beans... I love telling people that I wear wigs because I think it helps normalize wig wearing and I love watching their reactions! This usually leads to a great conversation.👍💖
Thank you for this video!!! You make it look very doable. By the way, does the Cameron lite fit comfy? I have a 23" head. Wondering if I could wear it comfy?
You are very welcome, I'm glad you found my video helpful!😀Cameron Lite is comfortable on my 22" circumference head but I did loosen the adjusters all the way. For a 23" circumference, I would recommend getting Cameron Large, instead of Cameron Lite, by Jon Renau. Cameron comes in a large cap.👍💖
@@micheleswigreviews thank you!
@@pamdietrich9862 You are very welcome!💖
Hi Michele! Could you tell me which wig u are wearing in this video? Thanks!
Sure... in the beginning I'm wearing Miranda Lite by Jon Renau in Shaded Peach. After that, I'm trimming and wearing Zara Lite, Cameron, and Julianne Lite, all by Jon Renau.💖
Thank you! Question on last wig. Like mine, it is parted on one side. The other side is a little too full (it is smooth not wavy, looks a little "fake" just in that area); where do i start to undercut with the trimming shears? Much thanks for any help. Hi from Canada!
You are very welcome!😊 If I'm understanding correctly, you are interested in thinning the other side? I recommend using thinning shears. I have a video where I show how I like to thin a wig. I will link it here - czcams.com/video/l-GjnVy4Qds/video.html Hope this helps!💖

can you also help with cutting bangs into a wig?? I am loving learning how to create a wig to look more natural....but I need bangs
Here's a link to a video where I show how I like to trim bangs (I have not filmed cutting bangs into a style that has no bangs) - czcams.com/video/LC-2jJ-OXYc/video.html. Hope this helps!💖
I noticed that you trimmed the lace on Zara, Michele. Are you going to demonstrate that? I might have to do that when my Zara Lite arrives.
Hi again Liz! Having said that, I think I will create a video showing how I like to cut the lace. Stay tuned!❤
@@micheleswigreviews If you do, that will be awesome, Michele. I just bought a new pair of small, sharp, German steel scissors for Zara. She will be here Wednesday and I am hoping I don't have to trim much -- I have never trimmed lace, just length. 😬🙏🏻
@@LizLyonsPhD Your scissors sound good!👍 If all goes well, I plan to post the video on Friday.❤
@@micheleswigreviews Great. I am in no hurry to do this, lol! 😍😍
The wig you have on, if you wanted to straighten those ends and it was synthetic, how would you do it? I appreciated this video so much!!
Hi Gina, I'm so glad to hear that you found my video helpful!😊If I wanted to straighten the ends on Miranda Lite by Jon Renau, I would use either a plastic hot air brush or a steamer. Here is a link to a video showing how I like to relax flipped ends with steam - czcams.com/video/jcDltchkQtU/video.html. Here is a link to a video showing how I like to relax them with a plastic hot air brush - czcams.com/video/oOsczIUvfPU/video.html. Hope this helps!💖
@@micheleswigreviews these were both so helpful!! I loved how you straightened those ends on Cameron! Which method, air brush or streamer, would be the least harmful to the hair do you think? Your videos are so thoughtful
@@ginawhite3399 Both methods are safe for synthetic fibers as long as you follow the tips I mentioned. I find that the plastic hot air brush works well for relaxing the flips or waves a bit. The steamer is better if you want to completely straighten the fibers. If you are concerned about damaging the fibers, I would suggest testing some fibers on the underside of your wig first. Good luck!💖
@@micheleswigreviews thank you! I am definitely one of your subscribers now ☺
Which wig tripod are you using?
I'm using the HYOUJIN Wig Head Stand Tripod from Amazon.💖
How do I order?
Hi! I work for Wig Studio 1 part time. You can order the wigs shown in this video from wigstudio1.com. Thanks!💖
Can you send me the link to your video of how to cut flips on the sides on your wig?
Hi Judy, here's a link to a video where I trim a flip at timestamp 6:23 - czcams.com/video/-noABApJwjc/video.html. Hope this helps!💖
@micheleswigreviews thank you. That's pretty much like the wig that I need to relax side flips on. Thank you
@@judycrisenbery2982 Oh good!👍 You're very welcome!💖
@@micheleswigreviews thanks again
I have 3 Camerons & and for me, they're too long. Im afraid to cut the length on them:-(
If you are not comfortable trimming your own wigs, I would suggest calling local salons to find a hair stylist who will cut them. First, you could search on Yelp or Google for “best wig stylist near me” and then call them and ask for a stylist who has experience with wigs (tell them whether it’s synthetic or human hair). Some will only cut it if you buy your wig from them. Hope this helps!💖
@micheleswigreviews I've checked several salons, none of them will cut wigs. They said cutting wigs is different than cutting hair
@@judycrisenbery2982 I'm sorry to hear that!
I ended up getting a block head in my head size. Game changer......
