I am the honest vocal coach! I have been teaching for 16 years and been singing since I was 17. I teach from my own studio and via Skype. "Alcohol you" is a play on word she mean "I will call you" because apparently they sound similar
It's the kind of wordplay that you only hear after many years of 'indie singing' vowels 😂

Roxen was selected as the artist and then she sung 5 songs for the selection - Cherry Red is worth a listen too

'Alcohol you' means actually 'I'll call you'. She says it this way because she is supposedly drunk. To be honest a lot of fans wanted another song of her called 'Cherry Red' to win but she didn't perform that well and ultimately 'Alcohol you' won. Can you react to Albania (revamped version), Switzerland, Greece, Bulgaria, Sweden, Malta and Israel?

Actually, Roxen was internally selected for Eurovision by the broadcaster and sang 5 songs in the show. A jury and the public chose "Alcohol You", Storm came 2nd ^^
Yeah TVR selected the singer and gave her 5 songs. They released a revamped version on the Eurovision CZcams channel
Now the song has some changes, check it on official eurovision channel, eurovision song contest
If you think in metaphor terms, "alcohol you when I am drunk" could mean you are the reason for my sickness-dizziness = your words are toxic like the alcohol, I am blaming you for my confusions, when you speak to me you are get me drunk with your words.In Romania we have a sentence about getting drunk with words when is about love and deceiving. So, I will call you when I will feel that my thoughts are more clear and strong.The dress is also with purpose, as she is feeling exposed and half-naked,unprotected in that relation.Usually the dress(not the trousers or other suits) is the symbol of relationship.
There is a revamped version of the song on the Eurovision Song Contest. You might like the key change at the end and I guess it takes it to a whole new level as it isn’t as flat as before.
The song overall is not about getting drunk tho. Heck Roxen doesn’t even drink alcohol. It is about getting into a “dreamy” state of mind which allows you to find your own self. That’s why she turns back in this performance she is singing to her own self. It’s not really a love song, but it is indeed open to a lot of interpretations. This is Roxen’s song interpretation tho^

Roxen said that the song refers to the state she has when she detaches from everything that surrounds her and is alone with her, a state of meditation that is similar to the one in which you are drunk.
She did do ‘Storm’ too...personally I think ‘Storm’ would have been a better entry. Odhran is right, it’s a play on ‘I’ll call you’ x
She is saying alcohol you when I am drunk means I will call you when I am drunk but the message is that when she is saying that she is drunk means that she is in her own world having beautiful dreams and someone is waking her up and telling her that life is not how she sees it in her dreams. (It isn't an interpretation this is what she said at the romanian radio.)

I had same thing with Sweden I love The Mamas who won but my fave was Bulletproof by Dotter she came 2nd only lost by 1 point. So cruel x Bulletproof just had something I thought x
Yes, she did all the 5 songs proposed by a label and this one was chosen by voting. I loved the Romanian song from last year... idk about this one.

I'm getting the message that she knows her lover is bad for her (possibly abusive) but she can't bear to be without them and gets desperate and calls them when she's drunk? Same with alcohol, she knows it's bad for her but keeps coming back as it makes her feel good. Idk though

You are a vocal coach, not a literary critic, so don't pay so much attention at lyrics, but at her vocal performance and at the melody itself, if you can. But to satisfy your curiosity, the song is about a bad habit. In fact, two bad habits. She gets in love with the wrong men. They treat her like garbage. So, because she knows she deserves much better than this she leaves them. But after she leaves them she is tempted to go back to her executioner - sort of speak. But her reason stops her to do that. Except if she gets enough drunk. So, to restart a bad relation she needs to start an intoxication. „I will call you when I am drunk (and enough stupid)”. But she is already drunk and she cannot pronounce correctly the four words. Instead of „I will call you” she converts in „Alcohol you”. Four words become two. It is a grammar mistake made by her unconscious. It is a dramatization of this kind of mood. Maybe a weak one. And I don't think „Storm” would be a better choice. My favorite was a „Beautiful disaster” but I admit the public will reject this song. So, on wich place do you put Romania?

I personally don't like the vocal fry, it makes me uncomfortable lol
I personally really don't like her live performances of this song... I'd prefer her to sing with some more resonance, I don't like the moewy type of singing. Maybe it's just me, could be.
