The state law need to up level to “fine” these people with compensation to:
    1) the victims and their love ones,
    2) public expenses on the clean up of that road accident
(those poor one, make sure they work in jail/factory, all their earnings goes into making compensation, similar to idea of people with bankruptcy).
Failing to pay the fine shall warrant them additional jail term on top of court's judgement.

It is helpful that drivers drive carefully, and it is better to be late than sorry especially if it could risk the safety of oneself and other road users including pedestrians.
May i ask did the news or driver mentioned why he sped so fast? was he under the influence of any substances or was he physical unwell , or was his brakes or accelerator faulty?
    Thank you. 😑🙏

We will see this sort of "accidents" again and again. DUI, reckless endangerment, speeding, racing, just plain entitlement and selfish mentality resulting in deaths and permanent disabilities. Let's call it what it is: vehicular homicide. And as with homicides and manslaughter penalties should reflect the seriousness of it all. 20+ years jail term, rotan, permanent loss of licence to all classes of vehicles. Time for the government to step up and make singapore roads safe for all road users.

It is totally unacceptable that government is still too lenient on reckless or drunk drivers even when they kill and destroy lives. Why not impose tougher laws against them like 25 years of imprisonment, revoking drivers licenses, heavy monetary fines, etc? Law minister must look into serious traffic violations more seriously. 8 years in prison for destroying families is not justifiable.

We have to be fair to all the victims and to him on this particular accident?. All those who happened to captured this accident on their dash cams should voluntarily give a copy to the police. A thorough investigation is very essential and crucial so tha appropriate judgements be administrated for this accident. Because of the big awareness by the public on this accident, many would like to know the truth and that the law will enforce the due sentences, so as to send a clear message to those, to think twice, before committing similar act of traffic serious offences.

He said all his documents and passport had been seized and he is not a flight risk’. So obnoxious. If i was the judge at his sentencing i would give him life! No remorse, no apologies but just so self absorbed. Selfish

Ridiculous verdict vs charges vs innocent lives lost vs public funds/resources mobilised to address the accident and assist the injuried parties. The rippling effects also spread to many families members of all victims and a company also involved here. The law, justice and punishment administeted to such rash and reckless driving, endangeting lives of public at large, must be re-looked into. Where is the deterrent effect? This reckleas man simply walked away with a small smack on the wrist! He will become repeat law offender! Only those celebrities who gotten jail term, and free media publicity remembered the nitemares their actions brought pain to others. In this case, our law systems lacks intergrity and justice!
