    Animation of CV angles was great! It could be a tick better if you made the car's body 30-40% transparent in the animation. It would not cover the position of components. But it is just a minor improvement opportunity, as the animation is great for understanding.

      Brian Mansfield thank you for the feedback, it means a lot. I most certainly don’t have the best setup when it comes to filming the videos and I hope as time goes on I can improve. I agree having a more interesting background helps as well as better using my depth of field so I can blur the background and help direct attention. • @ignitionoffroad5028
      @ignitionoffroad5028  Před 4 lety +1

      I would guess there isn't much difference between the 2" vs 4" kit in terms of handling, as they are only spacers and don't alter the suspension in any way. Changing/removing swayers and changing spring rates are going to have a much larger effect on car handling.

    Very informative video. Thanks. With a 'new to me' 2015 Outback 3.6R, I'm looking around now to plan out the lift kit and wheels I'll be getting. Unfortunately, the SubieLiftOz web site doesn't contain much visible love for Outbacks. On the page, their "Lift Kits" link goes to a section containing full description of several different kits, but their "Store" link only contains 2 lift kits - one for the 1st/2nd Gen Foresters and another for 3rd/4th/5th Gen Foresters.

      J G my recommendation is get 235/75r15 tyres and a 4” lift kit. Those are the biggest tyres I would recommend for a subie and that’s a pretty serious lift. If you want to lift it more than that it’s all in the subframe spacers but you won’t gain any ground clearance doing so.

Coilovers are very stiff, and apply that to an offroad application it will be an uncomfortable ride and you will have little articulation over rough obstacles. @@ignitionoffroad5028 right so when you mentioned the lift raising the diff isn't that part of replacing the struts and springs to taller one.

      @@Stealthhayes93 generally Subarus are lifted with spacers only. Currently Ironman 4x4 are the only company that provide a full strut and spring lift for new models. Otherwise you can get raised springs that provide up to 1” of lift but they only fit a stock strut. Any of these lifts will increase diff clearance due to the independent suspension design at the cost of increasing CV angle. That is why subframe spacers are recommended after 2” of lift to avoid excessive CV angle.

      @@ignitionoffroad5028 well subarus can be strut lifted but using a taller strut like my legacy has forester struts and springs and that'll give you a bit more than an inch from factory but I just don't understand how any bit of your lift changes cv angles if all it does is drop the suspension down from the body.

      @@Stealthhayes93 yes that’s true regarding using suspension from other models for a longer strut.
      So the diff stays mounted to the vehicle but the wheels are pushed downwards by adding a lift. This is why the cv angle changes because one point is fixed and the other (being the wheel) doesn’t.
