What I'm talking about is in his new video, I also used a very similar technique to make my song "Idle" as well as some other ones I haven't released yet. So fuck it, I'm hopping on this trend as well.

It's actually quite easy and I've been doing it for years. Open up a sample in SliceX (this works in fruity slicer as well). You can auto chop sample in SliceX or you can do it manually. To automatically chop a sample in SliceX, go to the regions tab above the sample waveform. Under the detection label look for the "Auto-Slice". There you will find 6 options. Don't worry about the grid-slicing options, the only ones we care about are the top 3. Dull, Medium, Sharp. Each one of these have a different use and very dependent on your sample choice. Just use the Medium one for now and experiment with the other ones later.
After you've made your selection it should map your midi to your currently selected pattern track. If you don't want the midi to ge generated every time you change a region marker then disable "auto-dump", that is located towards the top of the plugin in the black bar(I would honesty just disable it as soon as I open the plugin Its really annoying). SliceX can now play sections of the audio in the piano roll. It will also only map the first 128 markers so keep that in mind.
Alright next step is go to the wrench icon (Miscellaneous Functions Tab) for SliceX. There is a section there called "Echo delay / fat mode". This is not a regular delay as you might think but a midi effect. Change your feed to 100% (this can be experimented with, just think this is how much velocity is applied after each echo) Raise the pitch up a random amount and set the time amount to 1:00. Echoes can be change to how many repeats you want. Then try placing a note into the piano roll of SliceX. You should see it playing note other than the note you placed. Experiment with pitch, time and echoes to get a desired effect.
SliceX also has envelopes, filters and your able to pitch the sample as much as you want. You can also do per note pitching as well. There's a lot of thing can do in SliceX and I would try to learn as much as you can. It's very powerful for a sample engine. Sorry for making such a long comment. I tried to include as much information as I can as well as making it simple. Let me know if you have any questions
