    James good one, I retired at 45 and sold everything I had in my life in the UK and moved to live in Vietnam, everyone said I was crazy and that I would be back after a few months, how wrong they were, I looked at it as living in the UK up to age 45 was my first life and now I am going to live a second life in a different country but a country that I truly loved especially the people and the culture, now I am 60yrs old have a family and a ten-year-old son and no I am not rich but I made the best of my assets, many people can do similar things in the UK if they just stop thinking what if and cross that line that's in their head.

    Well said James and couldn’t agree more with point number 9, I am 37 with 3 kids and still renting but we live where we want to live and we have all the freedom in the world. I am saving and maybe one day when I’m old I might buy a place or I might not but I will see when that day comes for now we are happy and don’t have to worry about house maintenance or mortgages that are going up. Great video🎉

    • @James_36
      @James_36 Před rokem +1

      what makes you think your rent wont go up? it will and what makes you think you wont get kicked out when you don't want to? one thing being in your 20s with no house, especially if you in the UK, but renting per month usually costs more than the monthly mortgage for the obvious reasons but 37, you have lost a lot of no brainer growth by not owning

    • @facelessfettle
      @facelessfettle Před rokem

      @@James_36 I am not denying that rent might go up but so does mortgages they due to go up and just did again for millions so not dissimilar at all, I don’t have to worry about big items breaking and forking out for that on top of bigger mortgage payments. Don’t get me wrong I would love to own a house but rather than working to get a mortgage and technically still not owning the house till I’m mortgage free I am saving/investing to eventually be a cash buyer once kids have moved out and don’t need anything too big near where kids might live or I might carry on renting who knows? The danger is there that I might get kicked out but that is the beauty of renting I could move at quite short notice if needed but I have had amazing experiences in life that my peers haven’t due to being tied to a mortgage. I do me and happy to be me and my situation and I really haven’t lost anything at all just by not owning a property plus I’m not going grey yet which is always a plus 😂 well done for the growth you have achieved.

    • @James_36
      @James_36 Před rokem +2

      @@facelessfettle rents will go up more than mortgages for obvious reasons - mortgages may go up if you get caught, I am still on 4 years more of cheap interest, something not in your remit if renting... trusting this was his weakest point of the clip - You cannot out earn house growth %s on a high value item generally

    • @facelessfettle
      @facelessfettle Před rokem

      @@James_36 i genuinely don’t think it was a weak point of the clip and an amazing video and I could relate to pretty much everything that was said. I am not saying your decisions in life for the path you have taken are right or wrong the same way I am not saying it about mine I am just embracing where I am and looking forward to the future what ever that might be. This is not a place for right or wrong but rather embrace the differences and reflect of where you personally are but I completely understand that you don’t get it so well done on your achievements!

    Thanks James that last one really hit home, I’m 26 about to be 27 in a career I’m no longer passionate about and I’ve come to a fork in the road where I was going to stick it out buy a property then once I had that then maybe I’d be able to figure out what I want to do for a career but In my mind that looked like a prison sentence and I knew I would be miserable doing it. I like being free as you said so instead decided I’m staying in aus for 1 year to get a bit more money behind me and also my long service leave and then I’m selling everything leaving to go backpacking South America for a year or more the maybe off to Spain to live, the only plan I have is buying a plane ticket and not looking back because deep down I know this is the path to happiness for me.
    Have a great day!

As someone from an abusive family and cut off and alone in my 20s, you don’t understand how much I benefit from your wisdom. I love that you keep it real and you express what you are and what you think, even sometimes there’s some points I don’t agree but then I think about why you said it and then I think no, maybe I need to rethink my opinions. And I went out there to challenge it and grew. Please continue these videos - please also consider creating content specifically for younger men like me in 20s without family or direction. I genuinely believe you could have a huge impact on young 20 year olds.

    I think this video spoke to me better than most “ Be rich means be successful” vids that makes you feel like money is everything but it’s truly not how i feel when i think alone.
    Also i think the word happiness has a lot of nuances. But it’s more about having correct people around you. Who don’t get annoyed when you say you don’t want to drink but support you and who are happy to share things and hear them.

      👍 it’s a good set of dot points to refer back to. I found my passion for my job at 42/43. I’m a Registered Nurse. I start the bachelor program when I was 20. I was young, shy, very naive, nervous and quite. I got there in the end. I’m never going to be rich but I have a my home (townhouse), my animals, my health and a bigger holiday a year ( overseas , around Australia, scuba diving trips etc) catch up with friends for the weekends, smaller trips (camping, 4wding, music ( playing, seeing and listening). I didn’t trust myself or was honest with what I wanted or what I was happy doing. I started that search and my self confidence grew and I am now where I honestly believe what I wished I was when I was sitting in that nursing course 20 years ago.
      *** my point after rambling ***
      If you do have a clear vision for what you want go for it. Keep trying. There are ways to get there. My brother is better at managing people, he is more extroverted, I hate but sometimes trying things can make us find out what we like, what we don’t, what we need to work on and what we don’t. Most work or hobbies or life stuff will come up and the more you learn. It will build, confidence and skills. It wouldn’t have been easy for James to say to the 20% of clients that he didn’t want to work with them. Sometimes being uncomfortable is a good chance to see things for what they are = tired, stressed, feelings of guilt, upset, anger, frustration, physically hurt or burned out. Each time take stock of what you like, are goood, thrive. When James says in his video that sometimes something doesn’t start out as a passion (never realised that the potential for work in a particular industry or career path, is it a hobby or something that you enjoy and just want to keep for you etc) but if something comes along and you don’t mind the work, are ok with turning up, not really wanting or needing to take mental health days like in other jobs you may have worked because you like what you do and then the passion is there. My brother always knew what he wanted to do. If that you go for it.

    Can tell you put effort in this one. It's hard to articulate advice for people in order for them to take it the best way possible. But doing it for as many people as you have, I can tell you put effort in this one. I appreciate you

    I can definitely resonate with this video 100%. Ever since reading all three of his books, it has opened my mind more than ever before, and cannot be more thankful. If no one else has read the books, or is only just following his content then definitely check them out, and also his other content, as you won't be dissapointed. Maybe you'll be less inclined to jump onto the corporation hamster wheel, get a mortgage, and being bored as f**K to please others! 🙌
