Thank you for making this video! I’ve done this on both of my ceramic coated vehicles. This completely rejuvenated the coating. The finish is slick and beading like crazy again.
Glad it helped! Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on CZcams as we surpassed 940,000 subscribers and we have over 124 million views! I have been detailing for 26 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers.

Awesome timing for this video. I just now am having my new FL5 Civic Type R professionally ceramic coated. Pan does it again……gets us the information and technics we need to properly maintain our paint.
Thanks Chris! What coating was applied to your car?
@@PanTheOrganizer I had a full frontal xpel paint protection fiim along with xpel fusion plus ceramic coating. I have done my own ceramic coating in the past, but chose to have the Type R professionally done.
clean ride
After watching this, I used fallout/iron remover on a car bodywork (used other similar products only on wheels)for the first time ever. Literally though, I had a purple bonnet. Brought back coating in ways I never expected. Keep up the good work
Thanks for sharing! And in spring, you can do an even more in depth deep clean for your coating. See how I do it in this video: czcams.com/video/oTaFE_p2OAw/video.html
Thank you for explaining the foam soap pre wash process! I did not allow it to do it’s job when I used it. I sprayed it on and started washing and just thought it was a hassle! I was just doing it wrong! Wished you were closer to me, I would love to have you do my wife’s Tahoe!
Thanks again and always learn something from each video! Keep up the great work!
I educated myself using your videos to detail and do a cut and polish on my 4 year old car before selling it. It looked better than it did when it was brand new. Sold it within a couple of hours of posting it online. Even though I don’t have a car now, I still watch and love your videos.
Cool! Thanks Matthew!
I’m blown away by how many products and steps there are to maintaining something that was suppose to make things easier

Thanks Pan. I took the coating plunge and applied Avalon King to my wife's car and Mohs and Skin to my vehicle. Used all your pre application videos did a full polish on both vehicles prior to application. These maintenance tips are appreciated. Eagerly awaiting first wash on both vehicles. Thanks again!
Great to hear! Remember to wait at least one week before washing the vehicles. Ideally I’d wait two fulk weeks.

Since the discussion is focused on GTechniq , the products i have tried and like are G1 glass coating and the Smart Fabric protectant. Easy to apply and seem to perform well.

Great vid, Pan. Chock full of info, and the thorough process of surface care. 👍
Thank you!
Lubricity… I like that. Looks like a great, comprehensive line. I didn’t know that clay was too abrasive for these applications.
Polishing a coating isn't recommended, as you would damage and strip the coating. Mechanical abrasion and friction will remove the coating. Chemical decon steps are always preferred on coated cars. I would recommend the following steps:
1) Wash the car with a decon shampoo like CarPro Descale. It's slightly acidic pH will help remove minerals and water spots.
2) Rinse it, then use a tar remover if you have tar deposits.
3) Rinse it, then use an iron remover to remove brake dust and industrial fallout.
4) Rinse and dry the vehicle.
5) Then use the water spot remover, which will also help to remove any minerals left on the coating that perhaps are masking its properties. Rinse, and wash the car again.
The coating's properties should be restored at this point, assuming the coating is in good shape and was applied properly and is still within its claimed durability.
Also, clay bars are abrasive by nature, and again, not recommended on coatings as you would damage the coating and potentially add some marring to the paint.
If maintained properly, you shouldn't have much embedded contamination. In some rare cases where you might find some contamination left after all the chemical decon steps, like a bit of grit in the clear coat, you could use a synthetic clay towel (that uses a different clay media compared to traditional clay bars) and lots of clay lube, in order to lightly clay the surface. A clay towel like this one: bit.ly/43nrfce
Or this one: bit.ly/43y0Mss
But test on an inconspicuous area first!
I learned everything from you and this channel. Those products sound amazing. 🙌🏼🔥🔥🙌🏼

@@PanTheOrganizerYou’re killing it brother. Can’t wait to see you crack the million mark. Drinks on me if we ever meet haha
Hehehe thanks man! I can't even believe that goal of 1 million subs is quickly approaching! What a dream this entire thing has been since I started my channel in April 2016. By the end of 2024, we should surpass that million mark if I still have the energy to produce videos.
It's super demanding to produce content for CZcams. One video can take 10-15 hours to produce, and I often film twice as I restart everything in French. Nobody else does this in the detailing world on CZcams. And since I started my channel, I have never skipped a single week of uploads. Iron man medal someone please? :)

Definitely a helpful video on preserving coatings. The only coating I've used is the csl/exo combo. Very long lasting and glossy as can be! GTECHNIQ makes fine quality materials. Ceramic GWash looks interesting. I'll pick up a bottle and try it out.
Pan, Thanks! And enjoy the weekend.
Thanks Jay! Have a great weekend too bud!
@@PanTheOrganizer Thank You very much! Polishing and Coating My best bud's 1990 1LE Lingenfelter IROC Z. It's a monster!
Rock n Roll baby!!
Great looking results as Gtechnique makes strong products. The new EVO looks really glossy and slick which should make a lot of people happy. For those worried about the drying aid just use the drying aid when the vehicle is wet and dry. Then reapply the topper when the paint is dry. Sadly I just ran out of their bug remover as the product always worked.
I do have a idea for future videos as the use of a primer polish before applying a ceramic coating has been going through my head a lot. Then again this could be a rabbit hole too. Thank you for another educational video full of tips and tricks!
Thanks Neil. I think you meant EXO right? EVO is in the Gyeon line of coatings. ;)
For primer polishes, there is still much debate on that. Some like using them, some prefer to just IPA wipe, and then apply the coating.
However, having visited Dr Beasley's headquarters recently, and having talked with Jim, owner and chemist, he had an interesting take on his primer polishes and his explanation made total sense. I have been testing the NSP line and I'm quite please so far! Here's that interview: czcams.com/video/IxacMrFEHis/video.html
@@PanTheOrganizer your correct Pan on EXO. I must have been thinking about eating tacos! I ann still ignorant on the bindings of the ceramic to the paint. I can see the primer polish filling in the crevices of the paint which then gives the coating a better grasp. I know when I am over my head and this is one of those moments. The Dr. Beasleys video got my attention along with Miranda’s videos about the polish too. Thank you for thinking about this.

Great video! Never would have thought to use an iron remover...would have thought it would degrade your coating.
Thanks Josh. Yeah using chemical decon is actually recommended to help remove brake dust, embedded contamination, or things like water spots or tar deposits that can mask the coating's properties. And the coating brands always develop chemicals that are compatible with their coatings and won't hurt them.
@Pan The Organizer makes total sense! I have Adam's Graphene on my truck...so will pick up some of their iron remover now! Keep up the great videos!

Hello again to the hardest working detailer on CZcams! I'm a novice compared to you, but I'm wondering whether your washing regimen, and that of most of the CZcams detailer folks, might be a bit excessive, at least for coated cars. Let me know what you think if you can.
I bought a brand new car this year with black paint which came with a synthetic sealant. I wanted a ceramic coat, but would have to strip the sealant, so after a great deal of research I decided to just apply the Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Graphene spray 2-3x per year since it gives ceramic properties and can be layered on top of other coatings or itself. I applied it after a car wash in mid-April, it's now early June, and I haven't done a proper contact wash or been back to the car wash since! While I don't drive a lot and it doesn't rain much here, I park outside and Calgary is very dusty, so the car gets covered in dust in under a week, yet a pump sprayer pre-soak followed by a waterless wash is all I've needed since mid-April. I do 1-2 washes per week (~30min each time), it's still easy to clean, and hasn't lost its hydrophobic properties! Also I just use tap water and CarPro ECH2O and air dry, and even if I use the very hard water at my parents place I never get water spots. I just don't wash in direct sunlight or else the chemical leaves minor streaks.
I'm not sure if my results are due to my chemicals, my wash frequency, or just dumb luck (maybe I'll have problems once I drive through some mud puddles), but so far I'm not seeing any reason I'd need to use foam cannons, pressure washers, the car wash, or even a sponge and bucket until the winter road salt returns.
The Turtle Wax Graphene Flex Wax is very good, and on its own, I typically see 9-10 months durability in our harsh conditions. Some viewers in gentle climates have reported 10-12 months. So yes it's a very good paint protectant, especially for such a low price.
But you still need to reapply more often than a full blown ceramic or graphene coating in a glass bottle. Those typically last 2+ years, many new offerings are now 3-5 years+. They offer even more performance compared to spray products. True coatings have better self-cleaning properties, better hydrophobics, more gloss and slickness, more chemical resistance, etc. But they cost more, and take more prep and time to apply.
So it all boils down to your personal preference, experience level and budget. There's nothing wrong with a spray alternative, as long as you stay on top of reapplying when needed.
Hi PAN, love all of the videos, tips and tricks!! Is there a difference between C2V3 and the Gtechniq QD or at least distinct use cases for each? I have both but really don't see the use for the QD if C2V3 is recommended as a drying aid, top coat, and potentially stand alone product. C2V3 seems like it would be the go-to product as it seems to be a higher level of protection.
Hey Alex! C2V3 is great for maintenance on a coating or a drying aid! Quick detailer is best used in situations such as a quick wipe off at a car show! Hope that helps!
Thanks Alex! The guys at Gtechniq gave you the right answer.

Love the channel... I have a new 2023 white 4runner (2 months old, garage kept) that I am planning on doing a ceramic coating. Do I need to use iron remover? Also, with a new car, do I need to polish (there are no swirls or holograming). If a polish is a must, what gentle polish would I use?

Congrats on getting your new 4Runner! However, a new car is never new until it's properly detailed.
- at the factory, the paint defects are often corrected quickly by rotary polishing which can leave marks and holograms, so polishing corrects those, before you lock that in long term with a ceramic coating for example.
- vehicles are then transported by truck, train and boat so they are exposed to the elements, industrial fallout, brake dust, rail dust, etc
- vehicles are often left at boat docks (when transported by boat) or in exterior parking lots for weeks or months, again being exposed to the elements
- at the dealership, the vehicles are almost always poorly prepped using the same dirty water that was used for all the cars on a given day, and poor washing and drying methods leading to swirls and scratches
- at the dealership, a layer of cheap wax or paint sealant is usually applied to attempt to make the paint glossy prior to delivery. It's crucial to remove any previous protection before you apply a ceramic coating, as coatings need to bond directly to a virgin clear coat.
If you only plan on applying a regular carnauba wax or paint sealant though, you could decide to skip machine polishing, as those protectants can be applied over existing protection and it's not as crucial to prep the paint as well.
I explain all of this in this popular video: czcams.com/video/QgoyrC-5CMc/video.html

Pan Thank you sooooo much for this absolutely detailed video. I just had my new car coated with the nano diamonds you showcased on your channel and I love it. My question is, what would you recommend to care for nano diamond? Would these products be safe for that or do these products work better with Gtechniq???
You can use which ever brand of products you want, as long as they're made to be used on ceramic coated cars (or graphene coated, same applies). This includes being able to use Gtechniq products on your coating.
You can also use your specific brand's maintenance products should you want to. It's your choice.

For chrome, there isn't anything special to do, assuming it's in good condition. You can typically apply the same paint protection on chrome as well. Chrome plating shouldn't oxidize or rust. It can rust when damaged in an accident for example, or start to be dull over the years. You can use a chrome polish at that point, to help restore it.
Thanks, Pan. When my TWHS stock is depleted, I'm going to try out some of the other products you recommend. Keep up the good work. For those of us who are just getting started on auto detailing, we appreciate your knowledge and expertise. 👍

Great video. Perfect timing. I have a to a maint wash on a ceramic coated white truck that has rust spots likely from the brake pads. Sounds like iron remover will remove them?
Hi Alan. The rust spots are most likely brake dust (ferrous particles) that embedded themselves into the clear coat, oxidized/rusted and hence why you see those. Yes an iron remover is meant to help dissolve those.
You would proceed exactly as per this tutorial. Depending on how bad they are, a second round of iron remover might be necessary. Wash the car, rinse it, apply the iron remover, let it dwell for the recommended amount of time (don't let it dry on the surface, and don't apply in direct sunlight) then rinse and dry the paint. Look at the results. If there are still specs left, reapply the iron remover on dry paint this time, and gently work it in with a microfiber towel, and rinse. That should do it.
@@PanTheOrganizer thank you very much for the detailed reply 👍I was hoping that would work. Didn't want to have to use my clay towel to remove those especially on a ceramic coating.
How is the G2 maintenance spray compared to the Kamikaze Overcoat & Polish Angel High Gloss?
Pan, you use a lot of brands that I've never heard of so it's neat to see them. I've used R1 Ceramic Coating for my cars for years with great results. I then use Griot's Garage 3-in-1 Ceramic Spray Wax which I know you really like, it's great stuff. The ceramic Gwash that you used in this video reminds me of the Griot's Garage Ceramic Wash & Coat. Hi Pan thanks for all your great videos.
Just a question from your past video on “Turtle Wax Graphene Flex Wax”.
I do all the preparation that you suggest but enjoy using the carnauba wax as I like the finish and look it gives.
Q. Will the Graphene Flex wax work successfully on top of the carnauba wax?
Yes you can apply Flex Wax on top of waxes. But it won’t last as long as if you applied it to virgin paint with no protection on it.
A good combo that Turtle Wax recommends is a base layer of their Graphene + Ceramic Paste Wax, and Flex Wax on top for maintenance.

Hey Pan, Great Video. Is it okay to use Iron Remover on a ceramic coated car every once in while? thx
Yes as shown in this video. It’s actually recommended to use iron removers on coated cars once every 3-4 months or as needed depending on your levels of iron contamination.
Super informative video as always! I’m planning on ceramic coating a new car next but I can’t store it inside. Can I use a car cover overnight to keep the morning dew off the coating whilst it cures? (I never use a cover but wondering if I should make an exception here).

What products to use for the dry foam & what ones to use for the intermediate? All I got was you using wet foam for the tires and wheel wells. What about exterior & interior? What for an alkaline/acidic pre wash or an iron remover. A rinseless wash. The carpet, dash, plastics. Door jambs, etc Really go over what kind of foam for each one. Thx.

@@PanTheOrganizerWith all due respect that doesn’t answer my question.
Which products do you use for each task? What foams good what doesn’t? Product waste or no?
Hi. I wonder if you answer a question, as I watch most of your videos and trust your judgment. I recently had my truck ceramic coated with Gtechniq. However some of the panels don’t bead and I was told that it is due to the fact the panels are plastic and or painted over after leaving the factory. Is this true as I don’t feel they have coated the vehicle correctly. Thanks

What brand are they? Did you reach out to the company to see why this is happening? Are they perhaps too old? Did you wash them before the first use? You must always wash microfiber towels before their first use.
Also, do you wash your towels correctly? With an appropriate detergent? See my microfiber cleaning tutorial here: czcams.com/video/t_ryfGlkE9I/video.html

Hey Pan! Great video! Watched a few minutes and saved to finish it later! Question...
My wife's SUV was ceramic coated with a 4 year from Ceramic Pro. It also has PPF on the whole frontend. I wash both of our cars on a weekly basis (even in the winter) and after 13 months, the frontend and trunk seems like the water sticks and there is zero hydrophobic properties. I have been washing it with Optimum No Rinse and every so often Mr. Pink from CMG. Yesterday I finally washed it with CarPro Reset, it helped the lower panels a bit, but, the frontend and trunk are still clinging on to the water, as if there was zero protection. Was I too naive to think that washing weekly would extend the need for a decon on the ceramic coating? I have IronX on the way, to see if that will help before paying the detailer to do their maintenance wash, which I believe is the same (or almost) process as I am doing. And, something tells me I should have gone with a different company for the coating lol...
It depends if the coatings is actually dead, or just clogged with minerals, limescale and other contaminants. To find out, watch my ultimate spring coating rejuvenation tutorial here: czcams.com/video/oTaFE_p2OAw/video.htmlsi=rkcv0aGqg0qIWIRr

Hey Pan, what products/brands can I use when washing a coated car with my foam cannon? Can I use Meguairs ultimate snow foam? Or do I need a high end special soap?
It depends what your intention is. For regular weekly washing, a pH neutral snow foam like the Meguiar’s or Koch Chemie Gsf is all you need.
But when you need stronger cleaning power for removing traffic film and grime, a stronger snow foam is recommended like the Gtechniq, CarPro Lift, Bilt Hamber Touch-Less, etc. Repeated use of those can weaken even the best coatings so be aware.
Hey Pan,
Is there a reason you do the decon after the contact wash rather than before? Cheers.
Yes. The chemicals need to focus on doing their task and not also fighting through surface dirt. So you wash the car first, and then decon.
Hi Pan, Gtechniq makes a Bug Remover. Do I apply that after the Iron Fallout remover?
Usually you use the bug remover as part of the prewash. Bug remover, foam over it, rinse, then proceed to hand wash.
Bug removers will help soften the bug guts and allow them to be rinsed off. What ever is left can then be easily cleaned during the hand wash stage.

Anyway, superior content as always, thank you SO much. You're a terrific person and so darn great at making these videos. I've learned a lot from you.
This is really interesting. Since my coating I’m not getting any foam or dwell time on the car. It’s like it repels the foam! It’s the same canon you’re using and foam with same dilution I have used countless times before. But as soon as it hits the car, it looks like it’s already been on for a minute or two. The only thing I’ve done differently last wash was to apply Wet Coat. Could that be the problem??
It's not really a problem if your coating is super hydrophobic and repels stuff, hehe. It's actually a good thing. Also, I don't know what snow foam you are using, and what coating you have. Many variables can influence how runny or "clingy/thick" a snow foam is. Not all snow foams have the same characteristics. Also, do you work outdoors or indoors? I have a much longer dwell time indoors, compared to outdoors that's for sure. Wind and the sun greatly reduce dwell time. You don't want to let the snow foam dry on the surface.
@@PanTheOrganizer Thanks for the info. I’ve been using ValetPro PH Neutral snow foam which is not the ‘foamiest’ but works for me as my car is never that dirty. The coating is CSL and two coats of EXO V5. I always follow a wash with Wet Coat and final wipe with Cure. That probably explains the lack of foam! Washed outside in a shady protected area. Interestingly, I ‘lightly’ hand polished with CarPro Reflect last time and it has completely brought back the lustre and shine while still remaining very hydrophobic. I think these spray on / top up coatings are great but they do gradually seem to mask some of the depth and shine of the paint.
Thank you so much for Gteqniq ceramic- I would like to know what’s more care need to take with very dusty environment with 38 to 42 degree…… my car gets washed every day with heavy water (contact wash).

Hi Pan, looking for a new wash mit. Which is better the Gtechniq mit in this video or microfiber madness incredimit?
They are both very good, but I personally prefer the Microfiber Madness Incredimitt. Link: bit.ly/3wFzkIc
Pan ,can you blow dry after you apply the ceramic spray? Or is it recommended to actually wipe it down? And then can I use bead maker or other drying aide’s for exterior wash’s after I do the maintenance wash on a ceramic coated vehicle. As we know these products are costly and not meant for every wash as a business.
What are your thoughts on using Carpro Reset as the pre-wash foam and then using Gtechniq ceramic wash in my bucket to go over the car with my contact wash with my mitt? Would this be a good combo?
Yes absolutely. Or you could use CarPro Lift as your pre-wash snow foam.
