If I had a time machine...... I'd go back, for sure, Tunstall was a great thriving place, I could cry when I walk around now and see what it's become. Tunstall resident 1966 to present.(2023)
Fantastic. Thank you for the memories. Born and raised in Tunstall, Nash Peake Street and then Furlong Road. My family delivered milk and coal all round the area. It's lovely to see places as they were. I don't get back as often as I should....I miss it.
I used to play in Tunstall park when o was little…had to change there for a bus to the hospital in Newcastle … we lived in Kidsgrove and there wasn’t a direct bus. Poor old Tunstall…such beautiful buildings just ruined now.
Memories are made of this. Wonderful, happy memories ! Thanks for uploading. I grew up in Tunstall during the 1960s, 70s and early half of the 80s, then moved overseas, sadly never been back since. Unforgettable Northern Soul nights and my first "proper" girlfriend !! I guess it`s changed an awful lot since then. For the better ?
Not for the better unfortunately. I was born in '88 and grew up in Tunstall. And just like many other small towns, the rise of 'out of town' shopping has killed off the High Street. Once they built an Asda just off the High Street, followed by a small retail park, there was no hope for the smaller shops. What used to be a busy, lively town is now mostly empty derelict shops and kebab houses. The Town Hall is currently being restored, but at the cost of the old Victoria Institute and Public Baths which have been put up for sale. I'd say have a look on Street View, but it's not happy viewing. It's not just Tunstall though. Burslem and the other towns are really struggling. Unfortunately the council pour all of their attention into Hanley and forget about the other towns that make up this city. I now live across the D-Road in Newcastle.
8:02 i have searched for that online for years! I knew there was a greenhouse in Tunstall park, i remember from my childhood but i couldn't find any information on it and wondered if i'd imagined it lol. I swear there used to be a reptile house there too, i remember them running around in amongst the plants and up the walls. Does anyone else remember that or have i imagined it?
fantastic! so many memories of a lovely town, now sadly gone

@@MagicKillerClub Thanks for your answer Andy, really appreciate it.
@@MagicKillerClub Fully agree. Unfortunately the best that can be said for Tunstall now is "At least it's not Burslem".

Nice to see the old Tunstall perhaps you could upload without the stupid effects of old film, they were only stills.
Well you don't have to view them...or any others for that matter.
Brilliant
I'll be doing another video soon
