    I want to try to answer some of the questions asked in the video and explain some key concepts in as simple terms as possible so that even non-fgo fans can understand.
    17:50 It's mercury! That character's the first emperor of China in a version of history where he successfully attained immortality. (FGO has several arcs exploring alternate timelines) and has the power to freely control mercury. The reason they went so crazy on the fluid effects is most likely to sell the POLISH of a metal surface with the fluidity of a liquid.
    19:55 That's (genderbent) King Arthur, reflecting on the events of her kingship leading up to the Battle of Camlann that ended with the collapse of near everything she held dear. You're absolutely right in your inference of her reflections on her life and decisions. In the original Fate/Stay Night series, she is presented as initially being wrecked with guilt and regret as she died watching everything she built crumble around her. Her original arc was about her coming to terms with her history and being content with how things turned out.(Massively simplified)
    FGO offers a slightly different stance. *FGO argues that while humanity can oftentimes be terrible and cruel, it is still worth saving and trying your best to do good in this world is inherently valuable in itself.* It validates her motivations, acknowledges the tragedies, and then offers her a second chance to serve and save humanity.
    This is why 20:59 is so important. It shows a genuine acknowledgement of humanity's cycle of trife, misfortune and war, and understands that the cycle continues to turn till this day.
    This leads us to 21:46 where the "second chance" manifests in her being summoned into the present day to join FGO's quest to save humanity, and it's really beautifully depicted not as the destruction of mankind's enemies but instead places its focus on the PEOPLE that are being saved, showing cultures and time periods from all over the world(and I suspect even theoretical future cultures, which fgo has explored in past events) And in being offered a chance to once again defend humanity, she herself is saved too as she gets to protect the humanity that she continues to treasure dearly despite all of the tragedies she has experienced.
    3:52 is there to show that this motivation ISN'T unique to King Arthur. Nearly all of the characters summoned in the game chose to let themselves be summoned, because they share the common wish of defending humanity despite their lives being filled with tragedy. They share a hope in the future of humanity despite not being blind to the rampant cruelty of our reality. I think it's a wonderfully optimistic yet not naive message for this silly mobile gacha game from 2015 to carry.
    “We Heroic Spirits are merely shadows of times long past, people like you who live in this time are treasures to us, everything we fought for was for the sake of the future.” -Karna, Fate Grand/Order
    25:52 Yes please! If that's such a stream I WILL be there even though your streams usually start at 2am or so.
    11:36 Me! It's me! And like thousands upon thousands of other whales. Our collective spending on last year's summer banner alone probably bought all the man hours required and then some to produce this video. I like to think all my spending has contributed to funding a single frame of this video ayyyy lmao

    A lot of FGO fans were probably disappointed by the anniversary servant (playable character) gacha pick up, but to me, this memorial movie is a clear sign that the Type-Moon company, FGO studio at Lasengle and Aniplex are fully intent on continuing this wonderful series as long as possible. To me, that's enough because I basically grown so much while playing this game for the past 8 years. Playing this game made me excited and lively every four season, every holidays, every anniversaries and new year's eve and day. fate/grand order is like my baby, seeing i've spent five years playing it on the north american side of things; so it made me happy to know that you got to this.
    humanity, that's what this game shows us. both the good and the bad. we're set in the time where our future is threatened, that the world will not live past a specific year unless we go back and fix mistakes made by our enemy. and to do that, we gain the aid of hundreds of heroes, anti-heroes, hell even some terrible people from history -- people who have given their lives, their stories, in order to set a bright future for those in the present.
    this mv is like a love letter to every single character we're able to summon, and raise, and pour incredibly amounts of love into. and i utterly adore it for that fact.

    I highly recommend you watch Fate/, yes I am biased it is one of my favorite franchises... even if you don't understand a single thing because the timeline of the entire universe is so complicated, the animation, music and overall vibe is here and it's here to piledrive you into a table. As an animator you'll probably enjoy it a lot. Zero, Unlimited Blade Works, the Heaven's Feel movies, Babylonia, the second Camelot and the Solomon movie and lately the Strange Fake OVA all have some of the craziest/coolest animation, sound design and music. The vibe is immaculate. Fate/ is such a colossal franchise it's bound to have insane production quality.

    a lot of reference in this video has real historical reference rather than just fate franchise reference
    1:19 its about iskandar's death, a long and painful death due to illness (hence the people visiting his bed looked distressed) and also a reference to a painting of the imagined visual of the army bringing his corpse in that massive house-like carriage (he died in a different country than the one he wished be buried on)
    1:22 its frankenstein monster (in fate franchise there is only the female one) and this is a reference to the climax of its story where dr victor frankenstein died in the arctic after being chased by the monster
    1:52 its about how the hassansins cult met their end at a war against mongolian, in which case 2:10 could be the stairs of masyaf castle
    2:08 im not sure but i think its about shi huang ti's grave that has thousands of soldier statues (and some rumors that the grave has some mechanism that utilize mercury to make stuff moves or something)
    2:20 jeanne d arc's public execution by burning, i wonder if they really let her carry that small cross as she is being burned (they probably didn't due to her execution is based in the accusation that she is a witch... maybe it is symbolism of her faith never waver until her end)
    3:33 a bunch of soldiers offering excalibur to arthur... but i think these soldier's armor are that of anglo saxons? which makes it weird because the saxons were supposed to be arthur's enemy in his story... so im not sure what is happening as well
    extra:
    11:55 jeanne is short, she doesn't even get to the shoulders of the other soldiers, perhaps it is about the part where she was a 16 year old girl from peasant family when she joined the war... or maybe they just like their animated girls short
    3:59 ancient soldiers killing each other (but in reverse) and the next frame world war soldier trying to protect a child (but in forward) and then world war weapons explodes (but in reverse)... don't know if it means anything, but looks great

    • @killervonkase
      @killervonkase Před rokem +1

      If the anglo saxons were offering the blade to Arthur wouldn't they give it to her hilt first and not blade? I'm thinking it's maybe symbolism of how her kingdom collapsed and the anglo saxons took her treasures.

    • @krisantusliang9595
      @krisantusliang9595 Před rokem +2

      @@killervonkase i dont see how that fits the hopeful portion of the song, but it does make sense since in the next scene she is not using exalibur at all... and, this might be a stretch, but it fits the part where the saxons ends up with peaceful resolution where they were allowed to become farmers in britain (this happened in actual history, in arthurian legend they were just enemies)... so it could be saying that arthur and britain's legacy is not just that of sword and blood

      Jeanne D'Arc *was* actually allowed to carry a cross at her execution! There are dozens of documents and eyewitness reports that you can read online about her trial that paint of vivid and accurate depiction of that whole ordeal.
      Side note: She was tried, sentenced, and executed by an ecclesiastic (church) court for public heresy (wearing men's clothes for protection and saying she heard the voices of Saints), not for being a witch. It was a kangaroo court however and the lead inquisitor was grasping for any straw to convict her and not turn her over to a secular court (as a prisoner of war and a hostage, that's where she *should've* been tried, and they likely would've been much more lenient).
      There were tons of people, both French and English, that were outraged and supported Jeanne's innocence. It was enough for the secular and ecclesiastic English courts to reopen the trial some 20 years after her execution to deem her original trial a shameful disgrace.
