Nah, not for Adrian, he's such an agreeable, fun guy. The ability to make your guitar sound like circus animals and sing like David Byrne with an extra half octave or so of high range never hurt his career. He was great with KC, Frank Zappa, and Bowie, amongst others. You make a good point though. John Wetton was always a cool cucumber on stage, a total professional. He constructed top notch basslines and has one of the most identifiable singing voices in rock.

Do you know what is the main thing? Robert is still alive, Adrian is still alive, Tony is still alive, Bill is still alive. This means that there is some highest justice. These people are the greatest musicians. They love their work so much that it becomes a highest art. They do a great deal, they help people live.
I saw Adrian live a few months ago and he played a lot of KC songs! He was awesome, sounded and played just as well and was having a great time! So awesome and inspiring

How can a song rock so freekin hard and play so dastardly but be so soft and poetic at the same time..... I always wished this song was extended into 4 verses with some affects in there.... Those vocals are legendary 80's material. IMO
Look, I know what Fripp is playing here is amazing, god-like guitar heroism, but pls don't overlook Belew's guitar playing...in some ways, he was the more flashy guitar guy in the band, playing his "futuristic" guitar with all those amazing effects with Fripp mostly sticking to just crazy off-time arrpegios, almost more of the base to Belew's insanity. Really, who was the "lead" player of this version of KC?

I just read an article about Adrian and the formation of this King Crimson. It was based on Gamelan music - music about the enmeshment of the players in to an ensemble w/o any one player rising above the others.
Also, bear in mind that AB is singing a very complex part, all the while staying in place in an extraordinary guitar part.......... just mindbending when ou consider it
I know the idea is that they were entwined with eachother but I prefer to think they were dueling in a way, two mad gods both playing a beautiful work of destruction, a friendly competition to see which could perform more stylish acts
There was a brief period when AB was being considered as a replacement for David Byrne in Talking Heads. Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth were fed up with Byrne’s ego and Brian Eno’s overbearing studio presence. They wanted to send Byrne/Eno packing and install the much more agreeable and controllable Belew as their lead singer/guitarist. The vocal similarities of Byrne and Belew are quite remarkable. Would it have worked? Probably not. Byrne was the creative force behind Talking Heads and most of their catalog had been written by him. At the very least, it would’ve been interesting to see how that might have played out. LSS, Chris and Tina screwed AB out of some songwriting credits on the first Tom Tom Club album and he politely declined their offer to replace Byrne, opting instead for the KC frontman job. No surprise, there. Shortly thereafter, Eno became bored with African polyrhythms and moved on. Byrne kept his position as Head Head and the rest, as they say, is history.
Saw these guys on the Discipline tour, smallish club in Columbus. I took the girl I was dating. We stood on the dance floor about three people from the stage. She hadn’t heard of the band and had no idea what she was in for!

There's such an edge of tension to this not present in the recorded version. At any time there could be this snap of the string, a single wrong note throwing off the entire spectacle and pattern of the thing yet it never happens, it's exhilarating as it is tiring
Back in the day....when I was 18 going-on 45....This was just the type of track I liked on my 'Whistle Test' prog on Tuesday nights.......that I wan't sure until years later whether it was Shite...or Unbelievably FANTASTIC. - Obviously 'Unbelievably Fantastic' was my Conclusion.

My favorite 80s's era KC tune. It has everything, but those vocals are absolutely sublime....both Adrian and Tony.

The best bands sound just as good live as they do on record. One of the many reasons king crimson remain one of my favourite bands of all time.

Tony Levin has always been one of my favorite bassists, and the first time I saw him with the Chapman Stick I was absolutely gobsmacked.
