Patti Davis: I ‘Feel Complete’ In Relationship With Mother Nancy Reagan | TODAY
When my daughter was young she had to write a letter for a school project. We wrote a letter to Nancy Reagan telling her how much we admired her and her husband and we sent it to the Reagan library. We got a letter from Nancy saying how happy she was that my daughter and I had such a good relationship and could write this together. She said she wished she could have this with her own daughter. She treasured the relationship she had with her own parents. I’m glad that she and patti could finally have that
I found your story very touching. How wonderful that Mrs. Reagan took the time to respond and share the sentiments that she did. I really admire Nancy Reagan. Out of curiosity, do you still have the letter?
Love her honesty
Patti made a choice for PEACE...........and that says it all!AMEN.
yes, and maybe Nancy as well... I think, as we age, we no longer have the energy to fight. Maybe they both realized the other's vulnerability and humanity, and chose compassion.
+K Butler yes we put our energy elsewhere not in drama and we realize what a gift life is.
+larciabella well said! I write a Novel, you say it perfectly, in just a few words. ;).
I think it's to each ladies' enormous credit that they were both willing and able to come to some sort of accord and develop a relationship with mutual respect. Life is too short, especially when it's a parent-child dynamic. It's always better to resolve your differences as much as possible because you never know when you can lose someone.
More like a PIECE of the action at the expense of her parent's love for her....
Sad that her and her brother hate America
Or disappointed with the Military Industrial Complex.
Glad that Patti's 15 minutes are up.
Not as bad as Jane Fonda but she tried....
What a beautiful interview
Nancy and Ronny were the type of people who shouldn't have ever had children. They only had enough love for one another and no one else.
How do you know? were you there? you don't know what 2 people have or haven't got unless you're one of them...
@@hankaustin7091 Nearly all of the Reagan children were estranged from the parents and stepparents at some point, some for far longer periods than others. Patti is saying exactly what the poster said. The only one who managed to forge a consistent relationship was Maureen, and even her relationship with Ronald and Nancy Reagan seemed like it was one-sided and forced.
I get where you're going with that statement based solely on the perception and what Patti said in her books. However, I feel that I wasn't in either of their heads and didn't know them personally, so I couldn't make a sweeping judgment of that nature. I feel that both Nancy and Ronald loved their children, but I can see, to be fair, where perhaps the children took rather a backseat to their relationship and ambitions. Indeed, I do feel that if you're singularly focused on your partner, you probably shouldn't have children. Regardless, it's all conjecture and speculation because at the end of the day none of us really do know the truth. But I really don't judge either one of them. EVERY parent makes mistakes.
What a load of BS, you don't know what you're talking about...
Here Ranger Place in the USA just take care of yourself dear Thanks again sir
Patti Davis you are a darling. 🤗💞💌💐
I do not know if Ron Jr. and Patti will ever heal from being less important in their family. Less valued. Being with parents where no one else really matters that much must have been so lonely and actually borderline cruel. Dont have kids if you are not going to love them. You make wounded adults that way. then they cry out for help or attention...because secure loving attachment are how we form healthy relationships with ourselves and others.
I have a feeling she started to make peace in part so she wouldn't be cut out of the will.
The interviewer looks like a Kennedy?
+Ineke Mateman she is a Kennedy
Also famous for running for VP
yes, Kennedy/Shiver
I believe she divorced him, has not remarried him. Like the rest of us, she has aged.
daaaaa
Patti Davis has been my hero, for many years.
+K Butler mine too
K Butler I’m her gardener lol
My uncle does her garden
until you have lived in the shadow of powerful parents....you cannot know the battles to create your own life....bravo patti!!
Trashy that she probed to find out why Ron wasn't there. None of anybody's business. Patti answered the question totally appropriately. How noisy can you get Maria--shames on you!
@John Smith and ALL the other nut case Kennedy relatives.
Patti wrote a book about it all for fame and money, no probing was needed with her....
Really Patti, I didn't like her then, still don't, think that they can write a book like that and later apologized, please.
Nancy Reagan did not dislike her children or her step children but Ronnie went through a period when he was badly over extended. He had two families to support. Nancy made sure whatever time and attention he had she got. That didn’t leave much room for the kids. Luckily they eventually turned out OK
BS, Reagan had a troubled childhood and found being emotionally close to his children a hard thing. It didn't mean he loved them any less than any other father. Most children understand this distance but Nancy's kids with him found a way to capitalize on this to make points with their liberal friends....
My GOD what happened to her face!?!??!!?? Patti DEAR.. you need to sue whatever doctors ruined your once gorgeous face!
@Hank Austin looks surprisingly like a cadaver. Just like her Mama!
Sisters Where is my video tapes with All of u?
'a different lens' Oh please
wow just like end respesct your Mum
Nancy got to have a love most people can't even imagine having. Your kids spend their lives growing away from you and then leaving you for good after 18 yrs but your husband is there for the 30-40yrs of your life. The parents should put their relationship first. You still love your kids but not above your husband.
Most people don't have to make that choice. The Reagans were famous conservatives with the kids from his second marriage being Hollywood liberals. Stabbing their parents in the back to get points from their liberal friends was easy for them....
How about loving everyone the same way? That would be the best thing, and the kids wouldn't feel invisible because their parents love each other. And also, parents usually love their kids more than anything.
Patti is a staunch democrat. Keep that in mind.
oh so NOW shes got regrets......
This interview tells us nothing. No details about what caused the problems between Patti and her mother.
Patti and Nancy both wrote memoirs which describes their difficulties in detail, I encourage you to read them. Clearly Patti was in grief and did not care to rehash the problems she had with her parents, not publicly at least. I respect that.
Parenting is hard. 🙄🙄
I know, but that's not an excuse to be a bad parent. I'm not saying Nancy Reagan was a bad parent, but that some people are and use the excuse that "I know I'm not perfect, but I'm doing my best", which would be true and okay if they worked through their flaws, but not if they refuse too.
@@LucyQ-ew6zp I know of instances where that is true. Thx for commenting 🙂🇺🇸
This appears more than botox, I don't know. I always found her attractive, naturally. Still, she is the same person, and this was her choice, not my business, I have no criticism for her. She is her own person, an individual, a sentient being, and her business is her business. If we focus on s3lf, we are far nicer folks.
two people not aging well
These aging daughters of scions are in their sixties. No one stays young forever. If you do, you're dead.
Always felt bad for all the Reagan kids. They were lousy parents.
U getting blocked
Families are complicated. You as everyone else don't know the whole story.
That skeleton with teeth should give up being a "reporter" Patti seems classy and nice.
She hot
Maria Shriver makes me sick. Patti Davis did what she had to do and people raked her in the media. She seems like a very nice and positive woman. Maria Shriver gross!
But her armpits are pretty nice
SMH...poor thing, she's beginning to look like Eunice...and Sargent...and Rose.
At nearly 64 years of age, she isn't a spring chicken, so it's no surprise she's resembling her late relatives.
@@travelseatsyellowlab ...For better, or worse.
The older Maria gets the more she looks like rose. That’s a compliment. Jane Fonda’s son looks like Henry Fonda. Also carlene carter is starting to look like mother Mabel. Katie Cassidy the actress looks like jack. Paul McCartneys grandson Arthur looks like him. That’s not surprising because his mother Mary was the one who looked like Paul The others were blondes like linda
@@wendiwonderly1419 ...Not meant as a complement at all. God bless her, but Rose Kennedy was one more ugly child, & so was Eunice.
Two great women; queen of botox at age 60.
+V Sa .....born in 1952 she'll be 64 this year
why would you even care what they do , you might wanna look in a mirror at that ugly face of yours....
The Reagan's had some...odd looking children.
Justin Aames Probably, because the Reagan's were odd looking parents!!!
@@thomasbarrientos6234 what a dumb comment.
It's called plastic surgery.
Patti Davis has l i e d about her stepfather. .too terrible to discuss at this point in American history...
Reagan was her father. Nancy downplayed that girls LIFE bc her parents were pregnant when they got married and that was a big no-no back then. Plus there wasn't reliable birth control and that pregnancy/child threatened to ruin both of their Hollywood careers.
Think about what you're saying...
Ronald Reagan was Patti's biological father -- not her stepfather.
I remember when patti wrote that god awful mama hit me with the hairbrush book. She should have had my parents. Whatever she got she probably deserved
#NancyReaganThroatGoat
Patti and Ron were and are spoiled brats and she was an awful daughter and Ron and awful son. How i saw it through the years.
@Ann Carter Were you there? I highly doubt it
The worst.
