I can't count the amount of times I've had to refer to this video, as I only need to determine the swing of a door about once, maybe twice a year! Thank you!
Your correct if you put your back to the hinges and the hinges are on your right side that is a right swinging door but if you're still standing in the same place in the hinges change over to the left that is considered a reverse right. This is base on the fact that you are still determining that from the inside of the room. It applies the same way on the right for a left hung door. You have a left swinging door in a reverse left.
handing for door hardware is different than carpentry so that might be where you are getting conflicting explanations. The method above does not always work for door hardware. The best way to determine door handing for door hardware is to stand outside the door (the side you enter the room from) looking at it. If it is hinged right it is a right handed door - hinged left it is left handed. The exception would be high end or commercial mortise locks, then you'd need to know if it is an inward or outward swing as well.
This video is correct. I agree Video Joe is completely wrong in his video (and yet he goes on and on digging himself a deeper hole insisting he is correct when several people are telling him he's wrong.
The best illustration and explanation !
Thanks so much. Your explanation/demonstration is easy to understand.
This video is %100 Right.
If you see "VideoJoeKnows" video Joe is not right.
Thank you!
Great tip, one that I will always remember. Thanks

You know, it seems so simple, but it confuses me every time! Great demo video! THX!
Hello sir thank you id did help,
Yep, that helps.
What about RHR and LHR doors?
This only works on a pre hung door that swings inwards though
realemonful - huh?
CORRECT, there are several videos that explain it the EXACT opposite.

Wrong!
This is not correct. It doesn't account for reverse swing doors.
