    Very well done review - I often shake my head at car reviewers who think all we are about is screaming around corners and beating people at stop lights. I don't ever drive like that and only a very few do.

    KIA has really become a contender in the car market this year. I just bought my 2014 KIA Forte yesterday and its one of the best cars i've ever had. I've had BMW's and GM's since i've started driving and have to say i'm very pleased with my choice to try out KIA

    It's been two days since I got my 2014 Forte EX and...... I LOVE IT!!!! What a great little car. Well... it's not that little. I'm 6'2" tall and I feel very comfortable driving my Forte. I got the Aurora Black color with black leather seats. Love those leather seats. And if you are planning on getting this car.... you have to see it in that black color. with the chrome accents it really looks amazing. One friend of mine even told me that when he first saw it he thought it was a Lexus. Must be because of that Audi designer. It really looks way better up close. I did test drove the Mazda 3 (too expensive), the Focus (again.... too expensive if you load it up with features) and the Elantra (very different car than it's cousin the forte) and didn't liked any of those as much as I loved the Kia. The Forte really feels and looks like a way more expensive car..... for the price I paid for it. Took advantage of lots of bonuses since the dealer was liquidating the 2014 fleet to make way for the new 2015 models. So I saved a lot of money and still got a brand new car that I totally love.

  • @etblm5823
    @etblm5823 Před 10 lety +17

    My driving experience with this car is great. I enjoy driving it, not just for the features. I've got 22,000 miles on my blue 2014 Kia Forte EX with the premium and technology packages. I rented a Jeta with the 1.8 L turbo from an airport and it was an okay car but IMO not any sportier than my forte. It had more torque off the line but passing power and everyday driving was better in my Forte. I drive it in the mountains and it handles great and I get plenty of feedback from the wheel. Automotove journalists sometimes forget that average people like a good handling car but don't have the priviledge of test driving everything from a Mercedes to a Chevrolet. Bottom line, if you sit in it and drive and enjoy it and it doesn't break and you can afford it, buy it and don't worry about what the "professionals" say. The only person's opinion that matters when it comes to the car you buy and drive is yours.

    I am about to get a Forte EX in a few months. The only gripe I have is the stereo in the Forte I understand sounds terrible! Kia should offer some kind of add-on upgrade to a basic Infinity system like on the Optima or Soul models. If the Soul can have that why can't the Forte! That drives me insane as I love to listen to music. The Jetta, Civic and some others have some nicer options for the stereo without needing to buy the top of the line car.

    Ford fiesta audio is weak, focus too expensive, Dodge and Chevy compacts are poor build quality, elantra value edition has no premium audio, Toyotas corolla entune is weak, and low trim Bose audio all around is shit so no Mazda or the like.
    Civic sedan radio is weak, but the coupe is 3 times as powerful (350 watts) on the ex and comes standard with a sunroof which is 2-4 k less than the competition for those options.

    • @mrubuntuking5257
      @mrubuntuking5257 Před 5 lety +1

      It's not really worth trying to fix them, that much is true. They are "disposable" in the sense that they are designed to be replaced as one unit when they need fixing. When you throw a rod or blow a head gasket or crack a camshaft in a Kia, a rebuild is pointless because every part is built to about the same tolerance and lifespan. It's just that one part breaking, for now, but the engine has reached the end of its useful lifespan and will need to be completely replaced within a year, so a rebuild is a waste of money. This has always been the case with Hyundais and Kias. The difference now, though, is that the useful lifespan is actually very good.
      No, you can't limp along on the original engine for long after it starts breaking, but it lasts for, depending on which engine you get, 200k, 230k, or 260k miles. A new engine is around $1k, a price only undercut by Mazda and GM/Ford/Chrysler, so if your engine does have an early failure outside of the 100k mile warranty, it's no big deal. Replacing it costs as much as replacing a pair of headlights on a Honda Accord. Price a Toyota Yaris or Honda Fit of equivalent mileage on the used market that doesn't have nearly as much trunk space or even half of the Kia's features, and even considering that the Yaris or Fit will last 250k-300k miles, you're still saving thousands.

      I have seen many interiors of different cars as I have to rent quite frequently and I was given a 2016 Forte LX plus in Aurora black one time last year and I will say I loved more than any other car I have driven. Ironically I just bought a 2016 Kia Forte plus in Aurora Black , thinking about it now I may have bought that rental!

      +Country Girl You do realize that you're thinking about their previous reputation as opposed to what it is now right? While Toyota is ranked #2 (behind their lux brand Lexus) Kia places 6th overall on consumer reports rankings. www.consumerreports.org/cars/how-car-brands-compare-for-reliability/
      And again, that's overall. They are still redesigning some of their older models to meet the high standards of their new Auto designer Peter Schreyer, previously at Audi.
      Lastly, as someone who owned a Corolla, paid 17,000 for a car with modest features, and who's fuel pump went out at 4 years, 1 year after the 3 year warranty expired paying out $1,000 in repair, I will take KIA and their 10 year warranty. I paid less then a RAV4 with similar features by $6,000 and won't have to worry about any shortcomings coming out of my pocket for 7 years over a Toyota.
      You're entitled to your decision, but its costly to pick one brand over another for an outdated reputation.

      I owned Camry 2001 for 5 yrs, then bought Forte, new car is better! The only thing I miss from Camry is 3L engine as appose to 2L, how ever it consumed 35% more fuel even in smoothest ridding more (old engine). Acceleration-wise they make 0-60 9,0 apposed to 9,3 secs, very little difference!

      Hyundai and KIA both have gotten better over time. I had a '97 Sephia and I took it to 110,000 miles before I traded it in. I had a few problems, but they were corrected. I had one cosmetic problem: the dashboard padding cooked under intense heat and came loose. Kias are much better built now than the ones made 15 to 20 years ago. Remember, KIA started slowly, selling cars in the West Coast before going nationwide in 1997. The old jokes ("KIA = Killed In Action) still persist, but we have gotten used to it.
