- This was a show we created for free and distributed to all the stores without the permission or knowledge of corporate Showbiz Pizza Place. We were rebelling against the decision Showbiz made to start producing their own (lousy) show tapes in a power grab from Creative Engineering. We wanted to let everyone know that we intended to stay together forever regardless of the greedy decisions of corporate Showbiz execs (now long gone from the business). And, we are still together (less one voice actor), working together when we can to bring new shows to a new generation.

The Rockafire Explosion had so much more personality and energy than Munch's Make-Believe Band. A true shame that such a wonderful show was replaced.

God I love how much personality is put into these characters. Though these animatronics were a revelation for the time I would say that their almost surreal lifelike qualities come from the recordings themself. If I recall correctly Aaron has still kept in contact with the voice actors for these characters... imagine how cool it would be if we got a podcast with everyone in character!! I mean, that’s essentially what the records for this show are as of right now in their current state; ad libbed performances.
Aaron voiced 2/3rds himself: Billy Bob Brockali, Looney Bird, Rolfe DeWolfe & Earl Schmerle. He took over Fatz Geronimo too after falling out with Burt "Sal" Wilson. Shalissa Sloan-James is still Mitzi Mozzarella, Rick Bailey is still Beach Bear & Duke is still Dook LaRue.

This is genuinely amazing for animatronics from 1986. About 35 years ago. Their interactions and movements are so natrual and organic, it's so impressive!
The Band was made in 1980 so its 40 years!

@@EnzomusPrime Creative Engineering made their own custom software to control animatronic and they store it on floppy discs. And they CEO that still runs the show Aaron Fechter still uses Apple 2E computers

You can clearly tell that this was made by CEI and not corporate. The rockafire just has a kind of magic to it , that corporate could never recreate. It has such an amazing personality

@@kylesch5009 It is very expensive to produce such high quality. It takes a huge team of people. Thus, The pizza places figured out that they could still make the same money since the parents were not the real target audience and the kids still loved the show.

I did, I grew up at the showbiz. I had all the original dolls, their first vinyl album (you should look that up, it's amazing), and let me tell you, seeing all three stages open at once was magical. Usually it was one or two, and all three would open for a finale and magic magic magic.

+IceDrawer - You know, they laughed because I was doing 3 voices and trying to keep it straight, and had not planned to do a Looney part due to time constraint. Then. Rick (Beach Bear) goes and calls me out to do a Looney Bird segment. I wasn't ready, had nothing planned, and had to "wing it". So they were laughing at me for being caught off guard partly.
So it was completely improvised.

1986 was a TERRIBLE year for Showbiz. They produced these showtapes with voices that weren't even CLOSE. Listen to the Tune Time Machine one as an example (it still airs on occasion at Radio Showbiz). All I can say is Thank God Showbiz (now CEC Entertainment) never ended up owning the characters, cause God knows what would happen to these characters if they did. Even though they aren't at Showbiz anymore, Aaron still has complete control, making these wonderful new shows.
Actually it was the Time Machine show. The Tune Machine was an official CEI show with the real voice actors.
Oh you're right. I get those two confused. And I shouldn't because the Tune Machine by CEI sang a song about my favorite anime character (or am I getting her confused with the real Venus Goddess of Love.......anyways......)

personally love this tape. it has a certain authenticity no other animatronics can really replicate.
These are a lot less creepy than the ones at Chuck E Cheese...These aren't my era but I don't feel freaked out like I do with the modern ones. They remind me of Banjo Kazooie characters cx

CiEL Dusk I feel like it would've been better for them to use the rockafire explosion when the two restaurants conjoined.... instead of creating a whole new mascot and animatronics..
The problem is, corporate Showbiz wanted it for free without compensating Aaron & even tried replacing him, Shalisa, Rick, Burt & Duke with soundalikes, but real fans saw through it & Aaron wasn't just going to hand over rights to his "baby" the Rockafire Explosion without being duly paid/given royalties, so corporate management just up & decided to replace the Rockafire with the Pizza Time Players under their new group name of Munch's Make-Believe Band via Concept Unification.
The way that the actors did their job is great. Theres geniune laughter and other little things that make the characters much more emotional and realistic than MMBB
Slightly confused at Rolfe's situation.They yelled at him for being materialistic. But what about how both Dook and Mitzi were also, but for separate items.

But, see, I tried to explain to everyone what the show theme was and how we would all tem up on Rolfe for being materialistic. But, I asked everyone to keep their wishes secret so that we could react to them live and fresh, unrehearsed and unscripted. The, everyone goes and wants something materialistic. It kind of took the punch out of beating up on Rolfe..But, we had a budget, a time limit, and the show was live. Whatever happened had to be published. I guess the slight difference between Mitzi's desire for a car and Rolfe's desire for cash is just that cash is a little tackier than a car as a gift in some cases. But, Mitzi was only 16, so she got a pass..Fatz gave the kind of response I was hoping for. I should have told everyone, "NO MATERIALISTIC XMAS WISHES", so we can fault Rolfe. But, I had to release it, because it was the real Rock-afire, good or bad, smart or stupid, altruistic or selfish.

When I was a kid, I was terrified of these guys. We couldn't even sit in the showroom when we went. Now I'm fascinated by them.
This is so beautiful! I wish I could of been alive to witness this magnificent band! Sadly, I'm only 12, so I'm a little too young. The Rock-afire Explosion has really brightened my interest in animatronics, and as of right now, I can't stop thinking about them! I hope one day I can learn, and create my own animatronics! I doubt I could ever even come close to the charm of this band though. Thank you so much for putting this onto CZcams, so that everyone can see!

I'm also twelve and would like to make Animatronics for the movies I'm going to create. There isn't going to be any CGI, just good, well thought of, special effects. I'm already writing my movie script and thinking about the types of props. I'll hire you for the Special effects team if you'd like.

This was the first rockafire show I ever watched and it means the world to me. The Rockafire means the world to me. I learned about them in late December 2016, a few days before Christmas. The Rockafire makes me happy when I'm sad, and they're just amazing ughh ksksks. I wish I could see them irl, but who knows what could happen. I remember seeing a picture of Mitzi back in 2014 when I was a FNaF fan, but I didn't think anything of it. But really, these guys mean the world to me♥️

I had really good memories at Showbiz back in the day. If my crypto ever pops, would be great to reopen an authentic Showbiz with retro arcade games and just do b-day parties. Even if it only broke even, would be great to have that again. These animatronics were genius back in the day.

By "pop" I only need $4 xrp no and it's all time high was $3.50 back in Jam 2018. So don't really think it's out of the relm of possibilities. I'm more of a long term holder, waiting for real utility vs a short-term day-trader.

I'm 33 years old, and I have faint memories of these guys before Showbiz became Chuck E. Cheese.
I revisited Chuck E. Cheese a few days ago -- it's awful. The games are scaled up app games, and Chuck no longer stands onstage with a band, he's all alone. Quite fitting really, the building seemed a lot smaller too. I'm not sure if they moved locations or not, but they didn't even have a ballpit. It didn't have that grand feel to it anymore.
I can tell a lot of heart went into the Rock-A-Fire Explosion, and it shows in the performances and chemistry. I miss the old days so much, and soon Chuck E. Cheese will join Toys R' Us in liquidation.

This is amazing, I love the fact that creative done this. I wonder if any of the staff in the restaurants noticed the words and how it’s literally making fun of the dodgy corporate tapes as if the characters were conscious. But this could have been taken a step further. Imagine if creative sent tapes to all of the 3 Stage CEC stores after concept unification, and had a gags about corporate ruining everything, with the rock afire characters voices muffled here and there as if they were in a cupboard out the back. That would have been a slap in the face

This is awesome to see again! I remember as a kid seeing this and being confused, because there wasn't a musical number. I enjoyed the dialog, but I wanted music! Lol!
