Alex Scalley is such a great guitarist. Has a very refined and nuanced touch. Never overplays but smoothly blends every note and chord with the chord progressions. Truly goes to show what you can do with a subtle approach.
He's just following along with a genius. While also being a bit of a genius himself. They never could have done this without each other.
This is the best recording of this song period.

It's often overwhelming to watch these two perform together. The chemistry is so intense that it resonates a purity that no other artist can showcase as they do, and it just makes me want to drop everything in my life and play music until the lights switch off.
Beach House is so terribly underrated. Absolutely beautiful.
Even now in 2024, 120,000 views in 12 years is not much. This version of is one of the great live recordings of many recent years. It sure is refreshing to see a band just playing in a basement, as so many bands really do.
Gila is such a stark, serious, don't-mess-with-me-today song. If anyone has seen the comedy "This is Spinal Tap" where the metal-head sits and the piano and share's his new piano composition in D minor, "The Saddest of All Keys. Makes people weep instantly." This is that key. I also see the D note as a happy orange, but in the minor D becomes a ghoulish orange Halloween-pumpkin color. @@obregonespinozaariana4572 It's more just listening closely to each note and comparing one to the other until you learn to identify the colorings that are already there. Like, C sounds warm, weighty: Red. // Converslely, Ab sounds like distant, twinkly stars. Blue.
It’s actually just discreet comparisons on one note against another until you start to hear the textural differences. Then you realize that it’s spectral. To where u can even feel his the warm colors (C to F) are more energetic than the smoother “cool” colors (F# to B). // Come see channels!

I've recently stumbled upon Beach House and just have a feeling that they are going to be VERY popular when everyone else finds out about them. I wish them every success. They chill me out something rotten.
Glen Henderson they will never be THAT popular. They only had a few truly amazing songs, which are quite popular with alternative lovers and hipsters. But, these few songs are simply too slow and deep for most. People don't like being reminded of slow, deep and sad things because they realize that most lives are led on a surface level. Those are my 2 cents.
