hyundai getz no start issue. Imobilizer flashing. fix

  • Car cranks but does not start. Immobiliser key symbol flashes 5 times.
    Issue is that the low voltage to the chip ring antenna passes through a standard plug. If any corrosion in this plug the key chip cannot be read.
    Original dealer fix is to cut these two wires (black and white to red and blue) and solder them bypassing the plug

    Hi am driving 2006 getz immobilizer not responding to lock or unlock and car not starting immobiliser light starts flashing if I keep trying to start alarm then goes off and keeps quiet after 30 secs.Should I still joining the black and white wires as I don't have a soldering iron?

    Hyundai accent 2009 car cranks but doesn't start. Is it only the immobilizer antenna? Should I change all the ignition? I can buy only the antenna and try to replace it myself.
    Did you say Hyundai had a recall on these? Should I try to call the dealer? Would they fix it for free? I'm in Canada. Thanks!

      For the getz it is a common issue that the connector plug for the antenna causes too much resistance, this is fixed by bypassing the plug and soldering the wires together directly. For you, you may need to do some further diagnostics, is the imobilizer key light staying on the dash or flashing? . Check out jimthecarguy he has a video on hyundai accent crank no start that can help you check a few things. Like if you are getting spark and fuel, you may need a crankshaft position sensor (another common thing to fail)

    Hi mate, I have an i30, just got back from a two week trip (during winter in the UK, freezing), and car won't start. Neither key works. For a few days the immobiliser light was on constantly even when the car was off and locked with keys in the house. Now it's changed and when you turn it on the immobiliser light flashes 3 times. Do the amount of flashes signal different errors? Just wondering if I should attempt what you've done here with the wires
    Thanks, really stuck, and stuck at home for a week now!

    • @tortron
      @tortron  Před rokem

      The flashing is that it recognises there is a key, but it's not turning the immobiliser off. You should be able to turn the engine over, but it won't start. If your batteries are good, then I think this fix is a good next step. The i30 is a bit different, but I have heard that they also hardwire the antenna ring on them as well, I'm not sure of the exact wiring set up on them

    If the immobiliser is not flashing, but steady lights up after ignition turned on - is it a completely different issue then?

    • @tortron
      @tortron  Před 2 lety +1

      If the light is solid it should mean that the immobiliser recognises the key. Does the car crank over normally but not fire? Next time try - leave the car in gear and have a friend rock the car back and forward a bit. Then release the clutch so the tyres drag, like push starting the car(if it's automatic you can turn the crankshaft manually with a wrench) if it starts after that it's the crankshaft position sensor. It also gets a dirty connection, or fails. You can unplug it and clean the connection with electronics cleaner

      @@tortron thanks for reply! There is no sound at all when trying to start the engine. No relay clicks, no starter, completely silent. Drove 2 hrs, turned it off for 10 min and it wouldn’t start again. Had a friend help push start it and drove home with no issues.
      Should I turn the ignition whilst rocking it, or rock to change position of the crankshaft and then try?

    • @tortron
      @tortron  Před 2 lety

      @@nRantzau the idea is to get the crankshaft to move a bit and reset its position, key can be on or off, but if the starter isn't turning or even clicking, then that's a different issue. Thr imobilizer on these cuts the fuel if I'm remembering correctly, but if you could push start the imobilizer isn't the problem. With the starter not turning or clicking, I wonder are the leads to the battery tight and thr battery in good fully charged condition? Otherwise check the fuses, and the starter relay

    • @nRantzau
      @nRantzau Před 2 lety

      @@tortron I checked all fuses in the engine, hoped it was the ignition fuse- but they all seemed to be working fine when tested. I did not however, check all the fuses under the steering column. Will try that and the starter relay tomorrow.
      Battery fully charged, in good condition and the leads properly attached. Everything electrical in the car works, aside from the ignition.
      Thanks for the tips, greatly appreciated!

    After soldering the wire do you plug the rest of wire together

    • @tortron
      @tortron  Před 2 měsíci

      From what I understand, the immobiliser is in the ecu. So it's not easy to bypass. Possibly if you knew what hyundai used to code them you could write the security out (like you can do in holden), but no one has really done it from what I can tell. You may have to get a replacement key, ring and possibly the ecu from a wrecked car

    Здравствуйте. Вечером приехал утром не заводится. Бензин лампочка горит одно деление мигает изза бензина может? Приехал нормально без дергании при включении зажигания бензанососа совсем не слышно. Лампочка загорается через пару минут исчезает все равно не заводится по диагностике показало ошибку p1693

    • @tortron
      @tortron  Před rokem

      Code P1693 is relating to the key chip, ignition transponder, the ecm, or the wiring between them. First, is the battery fully charged? If possible you can try unplug the ecm from the wiring harness and reconnect the plug. Do this 3-4 times, this will help clean any corrosion on the ecm plug connection. If no improvement, try with the plug shown in the video. If no improvement, it is possible there is some damage to the wiring (maybe corrosion or something like a mouse has eaten it) or there is an internal problem with the ecm (maybe corrosion or water damage, or failing capacitors)

      No. Does the immobiliser light come up at all when the key is switched on? If not it could be an ecu main power issue

    Can you just remove the immobilizer fuse in the fuse box ?

    • @tortron
      @tortron  Před 28 dny

      Doesn't sound like much of an immobiliser ifnyou can just pull the fuse haha. In these the immobiliser is built into the ecu, I'm not aware of any easy way to bypass it (other things you can program the immobiliser out for example, but there's no available software for Hyundai)

    • @diddymonster718
      @diddymonster718 Před 28 dny

      @tortron there's literally a immobilizer fuse in the fuse box lol so figured I'd snatch it out see what p
      Happens

    • @tortron
      @tortron  Před 28 dny

      @diddymonster718 which fuse box under dash or engone bay? And it says immobiliser on it?

      @tortron yea I can't post a Pic on here wish I could but it says immobilizer

    • @tortron
      @tortron  Před 28 dny

      @diddymonster718 what fuses is that fuse next to. I have not seen that on the diagrams, il check what I think it might be. Again though, the immobilizer is part of the ecu, if there is a fuse for the immobilizer, pulling it would make it fail in the don't start position, if you could bypass it with a fuse they would be the most stolen car
