Took forever, but I'm finally done. Here's a flawless/perfect/no-hit Sans battle, everyone. The dialogue is emphasized and Sans' monologue is edited in at the beginning for your convenience.

The fact that no hit sans is litreally just two people missing all there attacks for seven minutes never gets old

only problem is, dude cheated. skip to 3:30 and notice the heart warp out of harms way, at a distance that isnt possible without cheating, the moment it wouldve taken damage

And how many stopped because they couldn’t bring themselves to kill a particular character?
"Flawless" is definitely a better term than "No-Damage", consider that you take inevitable damage at the end.

Sans would spend all eternity taking his turn than die and let all reality be destroyed. He doesn't give himself credit, he's the most noble person in the underground
Not necesarily, he lets you get away with a lot of stuff and literally only interferes when you went on a systematic killing of absolutely everything in and out of your way and are just a few rooms away from destroying reality itself, while his promise to toriel is big part of it he also admits the reseting of timelines has left him numb to anything not called Papyrus (...who you can still kill and get away with just a scary reproach from his side), and even then, here is more a matter of pragmatism, just like when he used his strongest attack first, he is trying to stop you no matter what, trickery and outside-the-box(ironic considering he tries to trap you inside the box) stategies are fair game

@@dumpsockpuppet5619 To be fair, Sans is the weakest character in the game, The only reason why he is a difficult boss s due to his ability based on karma, Sadly he is only the strongest when the player has only killed most of the monsters in the game
But idk even after years of Undertale has no one really though of an early sans battle? One in which sans tries his hardest to fight you but he is so weak is basically like every other boss in the game?
I mean, undyne sacrificed herself twice in the span of 10 minutes so a child wouldn't die and hotland monsters could evacuate.
can we just appreciate that Sans had about 5 minutes to just rest and do nothing, then continue the battle with part of his stamina, but instead he chats with the player?
The player would of just killed sans while he was resting, as you see in the video.
@@Tymere_GT_Anims Player can do that only if sans is unconscious, try it when he is awake, you won't get anywhere. The point is, Sans gives up because he knows the player has a special ability that makes them be able to time travel, he knows killing us is pointless and he is tired mentally, so he just tries to convince us to reset the game since it is the most efficent thing he can do. But at last, he drops his guard down and takes a critical blow. He accepts his fate as a final try to convince us by making us feel bad for him instead of blasting us with blasters until he bites za dusto. (He is probably capable of that since undyne was with her sheer determination.)

Not just that but i think is even a bit more deep than that, Sans throughout the game calls Toriel "lady" or "woman" even if it would not be that weird that he calls her old since she is a more than a hundred years old, seems a bit curious that not even a single time he referes to her as that, just here on the genocide route.
I think he might be making a reference to the first joke Toriel ever told to him

I think the saddest part about this fight is that sans knows he can't win and constantly talks about it with you. Like he says, it doesn't matter if he wins because it'll get reset over and over until he doesn't. He knows this and still tries his best to stop you
I like the fact that sans is the weakest enemy but has the hardest fight of all
Technically he does deal 1 damage but he does it continuously and doesnt let the player use the invisibility

Sans is a character that never lets his emotions get ahead of him. He isn't expressive like Papyrus, and he never gives a straight answer when it comes to his feelings.

That was a moment of pure, unbridled rage. The only time in the entire game that he fully drops the facade of a laid-back goofball you see in the Pacifist route. You can feel how much he hates you, and how badly he wants you dead, even with no dialogue. Truly a powerful moment, incredible that Toby Fox came up with this.
Even I want him to say "DIE!" "YOU KILLED MY BROTHER,YOU RUINED MY LIFE,YOU RUINED EVERYTHING!",etc. Like Dust Sans for Example

It's always funny to me how in 5:23 Sans casually admits to lying about wanting to be your friend, to the point where he instantly drops the act and says "welp. it was worth a shot."

Yes. He was being geniune. But they couldn't be friends in this timeline where everyone is dead. In the death screen he even says "If we really are friends you wouldn't come back". So when he says lay down your weapon and make it easy for me, he means to send us back by killing.

I’m so glad I never did this fight myself. Seeing Sans like this truly breaks my heart.
This game is so well written, like I’m still amazed so many years later.

I got to Undyne in genocide and couldn't beat her, but I cried at Papyrus and at the eerie mood shift. It's not for the weak 😭
I know this is old news now, but it will never cease to bring me joy how meta the Sans fight manages to be while keeping you fully invested. It really feels like Sans, and hell the game itself is fighting back, against *you* .

Papyrus doesn’t technically die, Theres evidence that he probably fakes his death but cant reincarnate out of fear of flowey wanting to kill him, after all, his head and body have seperate deaths
The fact sans takes basically infinite damage and survives for a bit is insane

This is debatably the best boss fight in gaming history and in my opinion I can’t think of a fight that even comes close to how difficult, emotional, and just how fucking cool it is. It’s a work of fine, fine art

Actual no, he would just be stronger in potency, but not faster/better attacks.
@@zhlba Well considering in this universe that training and getting stronger involves murdering the locals they would have to do a completely different take on his character to make that happen.

it'd still probably be 1 damage as the protagonist would still pick up the heart locket in a genocide route
and still probably one shot sans with the real knife
Before anyone makes a comment about the last attack, when Sans throws you around you AUTOMATICALLY take 36 UNAVOIDABLE damage, so the fight can't be done DAMAGELESS, but it can be done no hit. The only route that can be done damageless is neutral.
One question: when's the inevitable damage in pacifist route tho?
@@saniaaf2251 Asriel is pure RNG in the second phase and if that doesn't hit you than she has an attack that lasers the entire box. I mean, dodge that. Impossible.
Flowey (final boss for Neutral) *is* possible to no-hit, but the RNG you need is also insane so a No-Hit is almost impossible.

Actually you can't do any route damageless. In neutral omega flowey beams you and stabs you. In pacifist Asriel damages you until you're at basically no health, and then sans throws you around in genocide.
Oh lord watching Sans die makes me feel like I died with him T^T
no matter how many time I watch it, it's ALWAYS painful. "Papyrus, do you want anything?" hits me every time. This game has such a powerful narrative, really!
I can make some real life references from undertale. Maybe this has something to do with real life and all the characters in undertale are symbols to represent something from real life?
Sans's dialogue and his descension into pure, unbridled rage in this fight just give me chills. I don't think I'll ever have the guts to do a Genocide run of my own, but this is just so well done, and it shows us such a fascinating side of the Sans character.
The moment I beat this guy was the day I thought "what if I replaced my two legendary heros with two sea teas?"
The only thing that held me back from winning was the gaster blaster wheel at the very end of the fight, no matter what, I just wasn't fast enough, but the moment I used those sea teas before the second phase, I did it.
It wasn't a good attempt though, not at all, not even a "okay" attempt. I BARELY beat this guy. I usually end up at the final attack with full health or near full health, but for my winning attempt, I only had like, HALF health. But I made it.
Update: I beat him without the sea teas.

The fact that Sans turns to his dead brother, and asks him if he wants any food. It's very sad. I also never really noticed that he dies off screen, but you do gain some LV, so.

i was really blown away when sans' dialouge revealed that this was first try.
At this point if the game it’s not you fighting sans. It’s sans fighting you. That’s why he can dodge, and that’s why the music if your boss theme, and not his. Because he isn’t the megalomaniac. At one point in the route you become a anti-hero to a genuine villain.
The fact anyone in the universe can to a flawless Sans fight is Truly Amazing.

I did manage to beat it a few times later in the year. Nowadays I lose at the very last part of the last attack.
Then sans' plan was a complete success. To cheat in combat, to tire you out, until you eventually lose your DETERMINATION, and your grasp on the world...
He defeated you. And that is not a bad thing

The moment when Sans realized you are his final boss.
I really like the context of this fight. Sans is completely demoralised by the pointlessness of continuous resets that he is basically the weakest creature in the game, but is compelled to try and stop you because suddenly there will be consequences if he doesn't - the game would stop with him and everyone he loves dead. But the only way he can stand against you is by using under-handed and subversive methods. The whole config rpg battle hud isn't for your sake as player, it's literally how the momsters see things as they fight. And it's very telling that Sans cares so little for the conventions of battle he uses his strongest attack first; he moves out of the way of your swing animation; his attacks do continuous damage of 1 point; he attacks your icon on the menu screen; he insta kills you should you attempt (or pretend) to make amends; and his magnum opus is just to never let it be your turn. It's all clever ways to circumvent the fact he is the weakest opponent you will fight. His motivation is also really ingenious: he's not trying to kill you because he knows you'll just reset and pop back - just present you with a challenge so difficult that you can't move past him. That way there's a chance you'll reset the game and bring everyone back.
I didn't notice you were deliberately uploading it because it was no damage, I thought you were just a god at videogames and were just doing a normal showcase so I was like "wait does he NEVER get hit omg". Great job either way

Clever foreshadowing for how Sans will legit destroy you if you accept his "mercy" offer. It's also not very subtle, if you think about it and know what will happen.
I think the screen blinking black afterwards between each attack may also be the way the game prevents Sans from just hitting the player with unavoidable attacks. The only time he's able to do that is when the player _chooses_ to spare him. Otherwise, it's an unfair fight if he can attack unfairly with no consequences or way for the player to escape or avoid it. Although maybe not. Because Sans seems to use it later to just disorient and confuse the player instead.

Sans is such a cool character, I mean in a game full of great characters I think we can all agree he stands as one of if not the best character in the game, the mystery of him, the way he can just do things that he shouldn't be able to, know things he shouldn't, and just his whole vibe make him one of my favorite characters of all time in any medium

This fight means so much more when you know who sans is as his character. Hes a lazy jokester, yet hes also one of the hardest bosses in the game! It doesn't make sense, but thats what makes the fight so much more intriguing. You would constantly ask, "how am I getting killed by SANS"

He calls out the player for being a video game player. That even if the player did the good ending, the true pacifist route, that they ultimately may only undo everything, bring them back to being trapped, just so they could selfishly spend time with the Undertale crew. To Sans, it's his life, the life of his brother, and the lives of everyone else underground that the player is, well, playing with.
Sans just wants you to do the good ending and leave them alone afterwards. That's all he wants. Yet he has detected what you've been doing. That his life is your plaything.
This is the one time he lets out his frustration against the player for playing games.
God I love Sans. Hes the most badass, awesome character in Undertale. This ONE SCENE & FIGHT is so powerful in it’s dialogue and the way the story/lore is integrated into the fight its insane.
San’s entire heart and soul is literally fused into the fight itself.
So, he is aware that this happens, so he could have trained for it in some time-line, and be stronger than this in some time-line, and we still beat him.
Sans's monologue is the really long winded version of "nothing matters lmao" and I love it

This boss took me 2 Goddamn days to attempt before I finally said “I quit,” yet you beat this boss flawlessly. What the fuck!?
The damage where Sans throws you around is unavoidable, but you cannot die from it.
I feel like sans is easy in the sense that his boss fight is incredibly structured and feels very precise not that hes easy or anything but once you learn his patterns and how his attacks work he becomes much easier
I think the line about giving up on going back is about timelines, not the surface, because he was talking about timelines.

One of the only games where these npc’s fight you as if THEY are the player too and they know exactly how determined a person is to win, and knowing this they know a person will reset over and over until they do, but they still fight for there lives…
they even go a step over to try convincing a player that seeking all the stats, power, levels, getting the highest achievements makes you a bad person with no soul who thinks it’s just a game. Some players won’t care thinking it is just a game. (Me personally I will never try genocide route cause I’m not heartless and this kind of unique test gets to me on a level of morality)
That’s the unique part of this game it tests your morality… Will you show that your a fence rider? A good person? Or a heartless monster? How you play will judge what kind of person you are, and the game will never forget it…

If you dodge all of Sans’ attacks expect his telekinesis powers to hit you all the white box that the soul that you control is in after killing a lot of innocent monsters in the underground and also no hit from every monster if no hit from every monster that you meet, that means you are the true evil. In a way the genocide route teaches you one thing Sans was never really your friend, hes at best an ally all he really wants is for you to go away and stop toying with him. He pretends to be your friend, acts goofy to make you laugh and ties to show you a good time to protect the monsters
Honestly an interesting character all around i think he also believes the past resets flowey did were yours too.
