    I currently hold and utilize Hilton, Marriott, Hyatt & IHG Cards, and so in this video I’m going to discuss exactly why I have Hotel Cards with all 4 major hotel brands.
    Then, I’ll discuss the specific benefits of diversifying my Hotel Credit Cards across a couple different hotel brands, and how I’m able to get long-term value from each of them, and I’ll also discuss the other side of things and the downsides to Hotel Card Diversification, and if I've been doing it all wrong this whole time.
    Finally, I’m also going to discuss what my future plans are, so I’ll discuss some plans that I have with my current Hotel Card lineup, and also some new Hotel Credit Cards that I plan to get in the future.

    Hotel cards are honestly my favorite. I feel like it’s the best way to get tangible benefits from a card and it’s just so satisfying having status and other benefits for free since the free night on each of the cards pays for themselves. Loved the video!

      Thanks so much Cody! Yeah the free nights are the first part of the value and then the elevated statuses and other benefits can get that outsized value! Appreciate you watching!

    I like how you articulated how diversification makes sense for how you like to travel! I love when you show those South American places.
    Good stuff Matt, I know it was your plan over a year ago to get a bunch of FNC cards so I’m glad you are finally seeing the fruits of your plan coming to play!

    • @MattWelterOfficial
      @MattWelterOfficial  Před 4 dny

      Thanks so much Anthony! Yeah diversification in terms of Free Night Awards especially makes a lot of sense if you travel multiple times per year, but not as much sense if you don't, so whatever everyone's cup of tea is, but I know both myself and yourself love to travel haha. Thanks again!

    We’ve been collecting cards with FNCs - Hilton trifecta, WoH, IHG, with Marriott left to collect. At present, the strategy is to do quarterly vacations with redemptions with Hyatt one quarter, IHG another, and Hilton the other two (gotta use those bi-annual Hilton resort credits). The FNCs also came in handy on a cross-country train trip this month when we had a night between trains. Eventually, we’d love to take advantage of fourth or fifth night free, but my wife is a teacher, so we don’t get to take long trips often.

    We're in the same boat and I'm stacked up with FNC's from Hilton, Marriott and IHG and having Status at those Hotels make the stays even better.

      Completely agree Sledge! Those Free Night Awards are awesome to have and then the elevated statuses make them even better when you actually go on those staye!

    Hotel cards are my new favorite type of card to get for a lot of the reasons you mentioned. I just can’t get enough FNCs haha! Awesome to see you so diversified Matt! I’m wondering if you’ll ever consolidate into 1-2 brands after you get some regular travel under your belt?

    • @MattWelterOfficial
      @MattWelterOfficial  Před dnem

      Wow thank you so much Stan! And yes I definitely do think I’m becoming more of a Marriott loyalist so it remains to be seen (and maybe it’ll happen when I get a high end premium card) if I’d consolidate my strategy more. Appreciate you as always!

    Great video! My current strategy is focusing only on Hyatt as i only use hotels 3-5 times a year! with the personal WoH card and soon to get the business for the bonus and possibly keeping it for business spending to get more of the best hotel status. Hoping they launch another card soon.

    Awesome stuff Matt, you already have a powerful hotel setup that'll only expand in the future, which's really exciting. Personally I love the mid-tier cards that come with free nights the most, as they're essentially low-cost keepers for me.

    That's a nice setup you got! Like you, my approach is to be diverse since my teaveling style is likely close to yours. Since I tend to jump around to different places the hotel options change quite a bit as well. I think having those cards with FNCs are great for the long term.

  • @johnmckinstry6057
    @johnmckinstry6057 Před 4 dny +1

    So far, you have a pretty good hotel card setup, Matt! The cards that have the annual free night certificate are definitely keeper cards. I can understand the downsides to having cards from multiple chains, but they definitely have their benefits too. Your future cards are all good cards. The first hotel card I got was the IHG Premier card, which I have had for just over 2 years and I like the free night certificate that comes with it. My second hotel card is the no annual fee Hilton Honors card. I've had it for just over a year and I will sometimes use it as a catch-all card so I can build up my Hilton points. I also now have the Chase Sapphire Preferred card which I may use to transfer some of my Chase points to Hyatt. Next month, I plan to apply for the Hilton Surpass card. The only thing I wish the Surpass card had is an annual free night certificate and maybe cap it at like 50,000 points. I do like that the annual fee on it can now be offset by Hilton stays or Hilton gift card purchases. Beyond that, I'd like to get the Hilton Aspire and probably all six of the Marriott cards, (the Bold, Bevy, and Bountiful cards mainly for the welcome offers). I've even thought about getting the Choice Privileges Select card because I do sometimes stay at Choice hotels properties.

    • @MattWelterOfficial
      @MattWelterOfficial  Před 4 dny +1

      Love that John! The Hilton Surpass Card and its current elevated welcome offer is really strong with the Points + automatic FNA, so I'd definitely recommend applying before 7/17 to capitalize on that. I really like Marriott Points as well and the diversity of hotel options that you have with them. So I am definitely considering a similar approach. Thanks so much for watching as always John!

    very informative, definitely looking into business hotel cards in my future as I am trying to focus on my 5/24 status and getting the other chase cards first since i started with the CSP as my first chase card and already have the amex plat so unless i can get around amex popup jail the gold card is on hold for a long time lol

      @MattWelterOfficial  Před 4 dny +1

    Marriott Titanium and IHG Diamond with personal Marriott and IHG and Marriott business cards - expect to get the IHG business card.
    Have the no fee Hilton AMEX card - was Diamond, now back to silver - rarely use Hilton
    Don't use Hyatt.

    Wyndham Business

    move up to Ritz C.

      Hey Barry- sounds good, I understand that. I'll definitely note this. Just as a quick note, I do work a full-time 9-5 job as well where I can typically only rack up enough PTO for one big trip per year, so that's why this past year's videos have been revolving around that Panama/Colombia redemption.

    Im just always confused on how yall people are able to rack up so many points fast to get these free hotels and flights. Yes I put all my monthly expenses on credit cards including rent (luckily my apartment accepts all credit cards with no fee) and even with rent and groceries on 2X-3X multipliers, I still barely hit 20k miles/points by the end of the year. What are yall spending on???

    • @MattWelterOfficial
      @MattWelterOfficial  Před 3 dny +1

      I prioritize welcome bonuses! I'm almost always spending towards a spend requirement to hit a welcome bonus which typically gives me anywhere from 60k-100k points in one splash vs much smaller earnings from spending within my setup. Thanks for watching Kevin!
