    Great tutorial! I am not an expert in sewing but that is how my commercial tailor does it...The original hem is kept...A slight up charge but well worth it....

    Ok so I have lost 200+ pounds and of course NOTHING fits and clothing is rediculously expensive. So I have learned to shop the "thrift" stores and have found some very expensive jeans and pants that work in the waste but most often than not they are way to long so I pass them up..now you have uped my game! I ran into 4 pairs of new with tags Rock Revival jeans at the Goodwill of all places for $4.50 a pair ! All where 34" inseam and I was so mad and threw them back on the pile and then I heard your tutorial in the back of my brain and I scooped those babies up and to the register I ran. Tomorrow I will be picking up the needles, thread and borrowing a machine and will have $600 worth of jeans for under $50! Your a life saver.

      Lol you must be dense in the head. It's also called a joke.
      It's called a "reference" joke.. In reference to the practice of losing weight to fit in a pair of jeans or dress, where as my joke is the opposite.
      Lol don't blame me because you didn't get the joke.

    What if pants need to be hemmed 5 inches, do you still divide in half? For 2-1/2 inches?

  • @makwiebe
    @makwiebe Před 4 lety +6

    Does this method not leave the pant longer than the desired length? Longer by the length of the original hem as it has not been included in the measurement.

    If you measured that you needed 2" of hem, why do you divide by half and only hem 1" instead of the 2"? This is very confusing.

    • @mysewbliss
      @mysewbliss  Před 4 lety +4

      Because I stitched the hem on top of the pants it takes it up 2” when I stitch it at 1”, there are two layers, each being 1” so it will ultimately take it up 2”. I hope that makes sense, thank you for watching! 💛

      Because some people prefer the distressed look of the original hem as it was produced in the factory.
