Great tutorial! I am not an expert in sewing but that is how my commercial tailor does it...The original hem is kept...A slight up charge but well worth it....

I was looking for a video like this, what a timesaver
What a great idea to use the zipper foot. I would’ve never thought of that. Thank you so much for your help I’m looking forward to him in my sons jeans. Now I know what my mom had to do when I was little, she always had to fix my pants lol. Thank you so much again

❤ I watched a few videos on how to hem your jeans. You did the best job on how to instructions! And got straight to the point! ❤
So glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching and commenting 💛
I think so too!
Ok so I have lost 200+ pounds and of course NOTHING fits and clothing is rediculously expensive. So I have learned to shop the "thrift" stores and have found some very expensive jeans and pants that work in the waste but most often than not they are way to long so I pass them up..now you have uped my game! I ran into 4 pairs of new with tags Rock Revival jeans at the Goodwill of all places for $4.50 a pair ! All where 34" inseam and I was so mad and threw them back on the pile and then I heard your tutorial in the back of my brain and I scooped those babies up and to the register I ran. Tomorrow I will be picking up the needles, thread and borrowing a machine and will have $600 worth of jeans for under $50! Your a life saver.
Nunya Business CONGRATULATIONS!! So proud of you!
At least now you have a reason to eat lots of food if you want to fit back into your old clothes :)

Lol you must be dense in the head. It's also called a joke.
It's called a "reference" joke.. In reference to the practice of losing weight to fit in a pair of jeans or dress, where as my joke is the opposite.
Lol don't blame me because you didn't get the joke.
Yay, congratulations on your weight-loss. love getting a deal as well.
Best video I’ve seen on this technique. Thanks
I’m so glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!

I don’t wear jeans but have used this method to shorten the sleeves on my sweater shirt and keep the cuff
Thank you - very clear instructions
Video after video I finally found one I could understand thank you
Great tutorial.
What if pants need to be hemmed 5 inches, do you still divide in half? For 2-1/2 inches?
Does this method not leave the pant longer than the desired length? Longer by the length of the original hem as it has not been included in the measurement.
makwiebe when I have done it this way it has not been a problem!
You have to add it
Well done. Very detailed explanation and demonstration.
Thank you so much 💛
Nice job. Thanks for your help and great demonstration.

You can totally do it 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Awesome !
Great!! Thank you.
You can use a hemming tape .steam a seam or something like that to keep that edge up.
Yes that stuff is amazing too! I love using it when I make skirts or dresses. Thanks for watching and for the suggestion!
Hi, how would you cut the jeans length without losing it's flare? I have a long flare jeans but if I will hem it will loss it's flare :(
If you're confident in your skill maybe cut the Jean higher up and hem together there
Your videos are very effective.
Thank you💛💛
Do you include the original hem in your subtraction or just the material below the hem
Just the material below the hem

Thanks for this tutorial. I need to hem my jeans but also take in the waist. Any suggestions for that?
This is perfect for hemming jeans. I have seen a few good ways to take in the waist and hope to do a tutorial soon on how to do that.
Great Video!
Thank you so much!!💛
If you measured that you needed 2" of hem, why do you divide by half and only hem 1" instead of the 2"? This is very confusing.
Because I stitched the hem on top of the pants it takes it up 2” when I stitch it at 1”, there are two layers, each being 1” so it will ultimately take it up 2”. I hope that makes sense, thank you for watching! 💛
How often do you see?

Thank you!! I have lots more coming, make sure you are subscribed and the notifications are turned on 💛💛
Make sewing machine for hem.
I’m not sure I understand what you are asking for?
Why?? Wouldn't it be much easier to buy some heavy thread and just top-stitch the way it was done in the first place?
Because some people prefer the distressed look of the original hem as it was produced in the factory.
I do prefer this method, I like that it keeps the original look and isn’t too hard or time consuming for me
