The “old” woman is my mom Jeanne Heintz from St Paul. She loved Bruce since 1978. My mom developed Alzheimer’s 4 years ago. She danced with him onstage 3 times. First time in Des Moines Iowa when she was 84; then November 11, 2012 at age 88 in her hometown of Saint Paul Minnesota, and the final time February 29, 2016 in Saint Paul when she was 91.
She was hoping for one more dance but she died February 28, 2020 at age 95. She was YOUNG AT HEART. I miss her-she saw Bruce & the band 311 times.
This video is a great (a little sad) memory for me. Bruce & mom had a special bond. She became friends with the entire band, especially Clarence and Little Steven. They all called her momma.
Did you know in advance that Bruce was going to do this, or was this a spur of the moment for Bruce? Yes a great memory for you.
@@frankpasini4304 Hi- I asked Stevie beforehand because he was also good friends with my mom, but I did not know it was actually going to happen until Bruce walked over to her. If i would have known that was her last dance, I would got up on stage with her. I miss her but she loved this band since 1978. She was momma to them!
I asked my mom what they said when he hugged her tight. She told Bruce she loved him (and all of them) and Bruce told my mom he loved her too. You could tell by the hug there was something special about it.
Thanks for sharing this memory. Dancing in the dark is one of my favorite songs since I was young.
Anyway, it's so sad to have heard that your mom passed away at her 95.

Five days before this show I was arrested listening to this song in my car. I stayed 5 years behind bars and I listened to Bruce every day. It was hard, but Bruce's songs helped me get over it. The detail is that I was arrested for what I didn't do ... I just had to endure it and wait for it to end. I am appealing the sentence. I dreamed of Bruce's concerts, happy, with my family and friends. It is now possible. I hope the opportunity.

That’s not Bruce’s mom. She was a local gal from the twin cities area who followed him on tour to various shows around the country. This just happened to capture her in her own backyard getting to dance with Bruce. Her and her daughter got to be good friends with Clarence over the years so got to know the whole band through him.
So Bruce “knew” her already when he saw her in the audience dancing and asked her to come on up and dance with him just like in the official dancing in the dark video with Courtney Cox (which just happened to be filmed 30 some years earlier in the same spot). That original building (Saint Paul Civic Center) was torn down to make room for this new arena (Xcel Energy Center) that was built for the new professional hockey team,The Minnesota Wild in time for the 2000/2001 season.
She has since passed away since this was filmed,leaving behind her touring partner daughter.

Hi, I heard your story on soul music featuring Dancing in the dark on BBC sounds yesterday and looked up the video. Totally cried my eyes out and I'm 59. So many wonderful stories on the radio program where people were and are inspired by Dancing in the dark and the Boss. All the best and heres too Hyde Park London 8th July 2023
