    T8 sherpa and T8 comandos are very good, thin, anti chafing and very durable.I used it for 2 years

    I've had mine for a while and love them. You didn't notice the hook in the belt section for you too lock you keys in. That's why I think there's no zipper. Humidity and rain I've been through both and dry really quick that and super nice not having to lube up before a run. Great review and I also just throw them in the washing machine with the rest of my cloth and hang dry them.

      @RyanClaytonFilms  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah I didn’t mention the hook because I never used it. Should have mentioned it, but all runs were super hot and I had to keep the car key in a waterproof bag. Anyway they have a lot of good things going for them!

    Very helpful, Ryan, thanks. I'm in the market, as all my shorts are in the "high mileage" phase. FWIW, I've found two pairs of shorts have had the liner wear long before the shell. So, I cut out the liner and have been using similar compression shorts under them and like that system better than the liner. So true on elimination of chafing there. Thanks!!!

    These are really popular among the trail running community here in Vietnam too.

    Bought same setup plus softflasks. Need to size up. Customer service was great and said I could return them but decided to gift them to my buddy. He likes them a lot as well.

    I bought a pair of these after you mentioned them on your last video. I got both the under shorts and outer shorts and I’ve got to say, I love them! I normally have a running bag with me but only really because I want to carry my phone (phones nowadays are too big for armbands in my opinion) so these shorts were great although I have now ordered another couple of pairs because the outer shorts were a bit tight.
    With regards to carrying keys, there is a clip on the inside of the front right pocket that you could attach your keys to with no worries about them falling out. I have an iPhone pro max and the pocket/pouch on the front was perfect for it. It never felt like the phone would bounce out and I honestly forgot it was there.
    Great video with real honest views is what we appreciate so keep up the excellent work! 👍🏻👍🏻

    Great review! I'll definitely check out the brand. I'm on a budget, but willing to pay for great gear that lasts. It'll be interesting to hear how these hold up over a few months of use!

    Been waiting for this. Thanks for review. Completely agree with the zipper pocket as I always run with a key and like to know its 100% secure. Hopefully they will bring out a new version with it.

    A healthy slather of Squirrels Nut Butter has been my go-to for almost 2 years. Used to have horrible chafing before that. It’s the worst “minor” trail injury.

  • @PaulioNZ
    @PaulioNZ Před 2 lety

    I just got myself a pair of these shorts and the only thing I would add to any next re-design is a couple of rear loops which go from top-bottom to allow easy stowage of foldable poles. other than that, they are great. I use mine with 450ml Salomon body bottles and they fit as well, but do cause a little more bounce due to their size. So I just tie the waistband to stop any downward movement of the shorts.

    Interesting input although you could have tried and reviewed the items separately for example wearing the shorts alone and the boxers under another pair of shorts, to see how it works.

    Good honest review! You don't seem blown away by the shorts. For me, the price tag for both parts and the lack of a zipper pocket is a dealbreaker. That early fraying also a bit worrying! My Patagonia 5" Strider Pro's do me just fine and definitely cheaper if you shop around online. As you said, could be good for chafing sufferers though!

    I'am running in my baggy basketball shorts. Still waiting for a company to convert them to running. Shorts need to at least come near the knee :-) But I like the "inner" layer. I always use some tights to prevent chafing. Durability never was a problem with shorts. Some of my shorts are from the 90s... .

  • @chrisphelps7473
    @chrisphelps7473 Před 3 lety

    Well, I guess I’m ahead of the curve because I’ve always worn athletic boxer briefs under all my regular running shorts, similar to the T8 concept. Never had any chafing issues below the waist. I probably should cut the liners out of my shorts since they don’t really do anything for me. Endorse the concept for sure, but feel you can replicate it less expensively with “regular” shorts

    Is there any reason other than looks why you would wear shorts over your halftights?
    I'm at the point where I'm just wearing half-tights for any sort of distance and stopped caring whether people (especially non runners) think I look stupid. Always feels super comfortable (and fast) over any length of event.
    Please tell me if I'm missing out on something here.

    • @RyanClaytonFilms
      @RyanClaytonFilms  Před 3 lety +1

      I think it’s mostly for looks, but there is one big benefit for trail runners, if you fall and tear them it won’t be as bad coverage-wise. Other than that I think it’s mostly a confidence/looks thing

      Having had a few crashes in MTB XC I can add that most bibtights rarely tear when you crash offroad. Some of the super thin running tights are probably more likely to than trail specific ones.

      @@lukaserlt5824 Many men aren't ready to expose their crotches to the public, crying modesty as tights can be a bit revealing, Personally.. when I wear tights (not very often), especially in winter months, there is not much to be modest about!!! Wearing tights when it’s really cold and windy can lead to some discomfort too.

      @@pauljermy7072 And I don't blame anyone who doesn't want to wear just tights, I was mainly talking from a practical point of view as the shorts in the video were recommended mostly for racing. As to your point about cold weather I absolutely agree with you, I wear shorts over my long tights for slower runs. Although for me it's mainly my glutes that get cold otherwise.

    Does the Ultra community use "Going Commando" the way the military does? In the Army, it is slang for no underwear. Similar challenges. Generally, going commando is NOT the system that works.
