Funny story - 20 years ago when we bought our house, I had found some nice sturdy wood counter height stools for our kitchen island and my spouse offered to put in the order for them. I really stressed, âMake sure you get âcounter heightâ not âbar heightââ. So, of course he accidentally got the bar height stools. Shipping them back was just so expensive I didnât want to even contemplate doing that. Luckily, these stools had solid wood, very sturdy square and vertical legs. So motivated was I to not have to deal with returning these stools, that I borrowed a power saw from a colleague, took a day off from work, and spent the day measuring twice and cutting once to shorten the legs to counter height and put felt on the bottoms. We and our two kids happily and comfortably used those counter stools every day for many years before needing to replace them.
Regarding moving items around: for most of the years Iâve been in my current home I stored dishes in my pantry along with pot lids and all my fry pans. Because I live alone I usually dished food onto the plate rather than a serving platter or bowl and the pantry was closest to the stove. I stored food staples over my prep counter because I donât usually buy a lot of canned or prepackaged foods. That had to change when I needed to prep the kitchen for my knee surgery and an indefinite length of time when I couldnât drive and needed to stock up on non-perishable foods.
Catching replayâŠwhen I heard separate kitchen I was in heavenâŠ.yes I loveâŠ.â€ïž â€â€âŠ.good show great guestâŠ.keep them taters coming Mr MarkâŠ.thumbs up all day everyday đđ»đđ»đđ»đđ»đđ»be so very blessed my friendđđ»đđ»đđ»đđ»đđ»give Gammy big hugđ«¶đ»đâŠâŠ.and âŠâŠ.yes I think my kitchen is functional đđđđ
I love white kitchens but they are easy to accessorize with pops of color.
Catching replay! Love the discussion as always!
I think my kitchen is functional, that was goal - I declutterred, still in process of that / I maxed out counter space by adding a stovetop cover if I needed extra counter space. Also utilizing my stainless steel table instead of adding an island makes for huge counter use as well as storage below it. Makes more sense to do that since I bake as a side gig. Only problem is you can see everything I store below so thatâs a little scattered looking. But I love my newly renovated space đâ€
Canât wait to see Saturdayâs video. Sounds interesting! Great live again and Iâm signed up for the design expo next week.
Doing a total renovation now on my weird, little 103-yr-old kitchen. I didn't have room for the galley I wanted so I made one row of base cabinets only 15 inches wide but 42 inches tall. That allowed me to use budget-friendly doors because I could easily reach everything. It's not perfect for prep but OK. However, it's super for counter storage such as toaster oven and microwave. Also for using the Instapot. Unfortunately, it's right by the back door where stuff will accumulate. I hope some baskets mounted on the back side will help contain that mess.
Yes, falling cabinets from ceiling peninsula was very scary. It felt like a huge tree had fallen down on our house. No more peninsulas!
For prerecorded interviews, you might want to have the other person record the video/audio on her computer (and you record your audio/video on your end), have her send you the video after the interview, then splice the feeds together. I'm not a content producer, but there has to be some easy and free software to do this and avoid all the bandwidth issues.

My fridge is so old the sides match the front!
đđđđđ
Ours, too. Still plugging along, and we will leave it here when we move. It might not be Stainless, but it's cold and makes lots of ice cubes. Also, magnets hold onto the sides, too.
Was Vonda asking about paneling a fridge as you were just talking about or about an integrated fridge?
integrated I think
No, I don't have a functional kitchen. Not enough landing and work area's, the flow is all wrong. I hate my kitchen, but can't yet afford a new one.
Wow, I'm really struggling to understand her. She needs a better microphone or something. Or maybe she sounds too much like my wife and I automatically tune her out. No, that's not it.
