L gear helps to regenerate energy when coasting
The L mode on the transmission dial is for the hybrid system to engage a sort of one pedal mode. It will brake on the electric motor when you let off the accelerator pedal.

My Car Dealer told me it is meant to be used when going downhill or with a caravan, its sort of low range mode for the gearbox. Its not meant for daily driving as sometimes (when the battery is too full to recuperate) it also connects the (still cold) engine to slow it down more effectively...
Although i have the Phev version maybe that makes a difference idk
@@unknownuser7026 So you are not wrong, it depends on what version of the Kuga you are talking about. I ordered a PHEV and that is the only version available in the Netherlands, where I live. But in the PHEV version the function is:
"The "L" in the PHEV increases the regeneration (and thus engine braking). If you battery is full it will also do proper engine braking as well.
If you use it when the battery is not full, you can have a bit of one-pedal operation."

At first glance, I think they've adapted the 2017 onwards model styling (for the bonnet/front grill, etc), and I much prefer it to the Kuga that came in between those two. It's looking 'mean' again.
Somehow the structures remind me to Indonesian YarisCross Hybrid 😊

too bad that they removed the noise cancellation tech that was present in the vignale trim, that was the first reason why I've picked up a Q3 phev over this new Kuga, and also the lack of matrix LEDs in my country :)
