- Many nation states are founded on the principal of being a homeland for a particular ethnic group and to allow for the principal of self -determination, however , there are cases where the ethnic population of a nation state is larger outside of the country , this video lists some of these examples!

im Azerbaijani from Iran, we have a population of at least 25 milion on least estimations and 40m on highest estimations, there is no official cenuous based on ethnic groups but never ever less than 30% of people have said in any social media pool that they are not turks(yep, azeri is not what we call ourselves, others call us azeri to distinguish us from turkey) and sometimes it goes up to 45%
sorry to say this but our nationalistic mates in iran dont like this numbers to be told, so be okay with comments claiming that we have only 5m population or such jokes
sorry to break it to you but 25 million is the high estimate, 40m would 50% of the population which is absurd

Hardly 50% of turks in iran live in urban regions and internet access is heavily restricted here, vpn costs have soared upto 5% of monthly wage(which a nomadic person see's no reason to buy)
And meanwhile all of these, in internet based pools on telegram(most used social media in iran, which is super heavily banned by government but still easily accessed in urban regions, but poorer nomads cant afford vpn costs) usually upto 32% of people say they are turks
I my self am from a village and migrated to capital city, hardly any villagers is active on telegram, meanwhile fertility rate is sky high(3 to 4 child is norm of the nomadic turks and marriage age is as low as 13 for girls and 15 for boys)
This all means there will be more and more nomadic people out of data's that are turks and some other nomadic groups like lurs living high in the zagros mountain ranges

In case of Afghanistan, you forgot to mention Pashtuns, an Eastern Iranian ethno-linguistic group. The Pashtun forms majority in Afghanistan with around 50-65% population being Pashtuns, amounting to 18 to 20 million people. However, they form majority in neighboring Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkwa province, which was once part of Durrani Empire, where they are 14% of the population but are around 40 million.
About half of Palestinians live outside Palestine due to being expelled in the Nakba.
