Wheat School: Timing PGRs in winter wheat for head count and yield

There's big yield potential in winter wheat fields across Ontario as the crop advances quickly with help from favourable spring growing conditions.
Growers have been busy getting that first shot of nitrogen on the crop and focus now shifts to whether the crop can benefit from a plant growth regulator (PGR) as the wheat advances to growth stage 30 and beyond.

we went from warm dry conditions in March here in WNY where it was too early to put N on, to cool and very wet conditions in April when we'd like to be putting N on and can't bc walking across our lawns sounds like we're walking on a sponge. Wheat is turning yellow. Any advice?

Same problem for me. Have a few days with no chance of rain. Sunday is the only day where the wind won’t be blowing. Gonna load half loads and hope I don’t rut it up too bad.

Dad had this problem a couple of decades ago here in Missouri, the wheat was so yellow I thought it would die. He just waited until the first day the soil was dry enough to spread the N, and raised his best crop ever up to that time 80+ bu. No guarantees but some hope! Good luck.
